Finished up Far Cry 3 tonight. It fell into the same trap that most games seem to, and one that bugs me, where you just know the final stages of the game are coming up because they send wave after wave after wave of enemies at you. I also hated the QTE during one of the final battles. There was a sequence of, I believe, 4 different chains of QTE. But if you screwed any of them up, you had to go through all 4 again, including some pretty long dialogue leading up to it. Despite those two complaints, I enjoyed myself. Definitely worth the price of purchase, and definitely the type of game (for the most part) I'd have no issue dishing out money on future installments.

You're better off not bringing her along. Her voice acting is the most annoying in the game. And really, she adds very little other than some EMS points. But by the end of the game, it won't matter.

The enemy types change/get more difficult the further along you go. More snipers/heavy weapons guys, that kind of thing. Plus, when you start doing bounties later on, it's two "yellow" targets you have to kill with a knife, instead of just one.

Far Cry 3 still. I've been doing the various side missions, including liberating those different camps. Finally liberated my 34th and final camp tonight. I've also found all the letters of the lost, and found all the memory chips. Only thing left for me to do is finish off the main quest now.

Far Cry 3's story seems to have jumped the shark. I've gone from "this is a cool survival story" to "what the ..." within the last couple of missions.
-
Glowing compass? Yeah. Obviously not the same game mechanics in terms of having to make leaps and jumps and such. Just the trekking through caves/caverns and underground maps.

This current Far Cry 3 mission I'm playing through is very Tomb Raider-esque.

Been hunting for relics the past couple of days. It's so tedious, yet the completionist in me can't stop myself!

It's quite the experience clicking on a thread with Volourn's random statement about sex being the only post on the current page, and wondering based on that post whether I even want to know what the rest of the conversation leading up to it was about.

Doesn't Alan just bring the developers their morning coffee? I don't think they'd mind if he spilled the beans. (get it? ah, shut up)

Far Cry 3 is pretty addictive. The only problem is, like with a lot of these sandbox-style games, I get distracted doing all the other little things that I go days between playing the main story missions, then inevitably forget details about the main story. For instance, my latest game saw me burning marijuana fields and I had to sit back and try to remember why I was doing it.

We did no such thing. Yes you did, right around the time that portly fellow from a couple of pages back was confirmed as a party companion.

I'm talking specifically about the folks who were upset that DA2's story had very little to do with following up on DA:O's. Of course the game itself could have done with more development time, but giving it an extra year, two, or three of development wouldn't change the fact it wasn't really a follow up to DA:O, at least not in terms in finishing up any lingering storylines left over from DA:O or Awakenings, that some folks who saw the "2" in the title assumed would be the case.
-
Did BioWare learn their lesson with the title? Is the newest DA called DA3: Inquisition, or just DA: Inquisition? I do agree that some of the backlash (about story continuity) would have been less if DA2 was simply DA: Kirkwall or DA: Champion of Kirkwall.

It's kind of cool when you're crouching in the bushes and you hear a growl not too far away from you. Next thing you know a tiger's attacking you.
-
I've only ever seen one snake so far. It was actually on the very first tower mission. You'd think an entire jungle island would have more than one snake.

A lot of the DLC is multiplayer maps, but those are free. The DLC you have to pay for is mostly SP stuff. So far there's been two DLC (three, if you count the Prothean Day-One DLC), with at least one more on the way. I'm surprised they stopped with the Ultimate editions. I can understand DA2; there were, what, 2 total DLC for it? But ME2 had quite a bundle of DLC, and ME3 seems to be following in its footsteps.

Still playing Far Cry 3. I love it when animals do the work for me. I was going to clear out another of those camps held by enemy soldiers, but as I was sneaking toward them, I hear gun fire. I look up and see a giant tiger attacking the guards. It manages to take out 5 of the 6 troops, before the last one finally killed it. So all I had to do was snipe the last troop to finish the mission.
-
If you've waited this long, why not wait until the "ultimate" edition or whatever it's called is released, which will likely include all the DLC? That's what I usually do if I end up not buying the game within the first couple of months of its release.
-
I don't know if it's a coincidence, or just an influx of new posters with the release of ME3, or what. But it's kind of odd how a lot of those on the BSN who defend every item of ME3 tend to have join dates after the ME3 release. I guess BioWare/EA got what they wanted and brought in a new fanbase.

The Chobot thing boggles my mind more so because she didn't even seem to want to be in the game, at least based on that performance. BioWare seems to cater to Felicia Day, but at least Day seems to genuinely want to take part in the DA universe. Debates about her actual acting ability aside, Day at least seemed like she actually was invested in the role. Chobot literally sounded like someone who was thrust a script and forced to read the lines, in a monotone, against her will. What a useless character that was, especially since the actual premise (war reporter tagging along) could have actually been somewhat interesting if it was Emily Wong or the chick with the really long name instead.

Gah! A couple of timed missions in Far Cry 3. Granted, you have more than enough time to achieve the goal. But still, I'm not a fan of timed missions in general. I feel like I'm rushing through a level, instead of enjoying it.

I should get back to the main story missions in Far Cry 3. I'm kind of just wandering around the island doing everything except what I'm supposed to be doing -- rescuing my friends!

The guys who pay for this forum might be a bit offended their game has slipped your mind.

Killed my first two sharks tonight in Far Cry 3. Wasn't difficult, considering I was riding on a gunboat.
