  1. What an odd image. He's working for the European Union, but he looks vaguely Asian. He's wearing a combat helmet when it's obviously performing a desk job. Most interestingly, he's wearing a monocle. Why is that? That actually strikes me as more British than anything.
  2. I don?t believe that a work of art can be objectively good. I do believe that a book can be evaluated in regards to cultural, genre, and period expectations. You can also ask yourself if a book is consistent in regards to itself or the larger series it exists in.
  3. I'm around page 750 of my 900 page book. Christ GRRM, how can you write so much and yet write so little? Why are your minor POV character chapters more interesting than your major ones? That said, I think GRRM's has strong characterization and his prose is very good on a textual level. The problem is that his plotting is non-existent. When he started book 1, he didn't know what the ending would be. When he ended book 1, he didn't know what he would do in book 2 or 3. This is why he's done from the series being 4 books to 7 books and now 'maybe 8' books. He'd probably benefit from more editorial oversight and direction, but given that he's now big-time, his publisher will happily let him do whatever he desires.
  4. I recall a number of humorous bits in Fallout 2. For example, having a man break down the door while I was in bed with his daughter and forcing us to have a shotgun wedding. I can't imagine any one treating that a serious drama.
  5. According to the numbers released previous, 82% play as DudeShep and 18% as FemShep. I'm guessing Silvermen misspoke or the interviewer made a typo. Edit: That doesn't address what you said at all. Sorry.
  6. I've only read the first 200 pages, but GRRM doesn't seem to have much if anything going on. Lots of lengthy descriptions, people reflecting on their past, and conversations about the history of their current location. I pointed that out on one of the fan sites and was told I don't get the brilliance of his writing. GRRM is 'weaving a rich tapestry.' I remember in book one when he was weaving a rich story.
  7. The number of players who pick FemShep sounds about right to me. What 4% are you referring to? People object to Miranda's buttshots because 1) they weren't interested in seeing Miranda's ass, 2) it happened during conversations about her troubled childhood and kidnapped sister. It would be like having a chat with Jacob about his relationship with his father and the camera suddenly zooming in on his package.
  8. Conservative America doesn't like sexual content that might be arousing or voyeuristic, but dirty jokes tend to be fine. Man-gets-hit-in-balls has been family friendly entertainment for at least 20 years now.
  9. Heavy Rain was long? Really? I mean, I had food poisoning when a played LA Noire, so I was up for two days straight and spent a lot of time throwing up, so I don't really have a time stamp for that, but... Heavy Rain? Well, whoever these guys are, their studio tagline should be "by idiots, for idiots". "Alexis Kennedy, chief narrative officer at Fail Better games..."
  10. Does any of the DLC address the 'You can go home, Courier 6' sign? Or why when the other Courier saw your name, he decided to quit the job?
  11. That's reasonable and probably an excellent suggestion.
  12. Play old games you once liked a lot. Works for me! This isn't books. Everything older than a year sucks. The past is dead to me. I guess I'm going to have to read A Dance with Dragon.
  13. Isn't that sort of the genre's whole point? The (negative) effects of scientific advancement? I am going to disagree with you here. (And apparently with TV Tropes) Cyberpunk features dystopian futures and technological advancement, but that advancement is not the cause of the problems. Cyberpunk typically shows technology as a means of liberation. Things like megacorperations, poverty, overpopulation, and oppressive governments are usually the cause of the negativity.
  14. Bah, I hate you all. I've played all my games and nothing appeals to me right now.
  15. Maria's gone too. Maybe they felt that this place was beyond saving? I've known this place was beyond saving for years. It's never stopped me before.
  16. Fallout: NV. Last time I somehow skipped Veronica my first game, so I picked her up this time and am loving her falcon punch abilities. I stumbled upon the Paladin Toaster prior to even meeting her, so even from the start, she was kicking butt. I'm at level 30 and finally got the Securitron army for Mr. House. I wish I hadn't done the Gomorrah quest already as it auto-completes, which makes Ceaser hate me even though he'd already acknowledged that I'd thwarted him at Gomorrah but he'd forgiven me for it. My plan had been to wait until House demanded I kill the Brotherhood before offing him. I might to it early now though. The Khans idolize me, but I haven't received whatever quest I need to tell Yes Man that they've been dealt with.
  17. Nothing gets me hotter than vague marketing speak. Button -> Awesome.
  18. It never occurred to me that they picked that specific sum so it wouldn't go to small claims court.
  19. Probably: "Square Enix stated that it had suffered damages in excess of $5,000 thanks to lost sales, and was seeking an unspecified sum in restitution."
  20. Amnesia: The Dark Decent.
  21. If there's same-sex and/or furry/scaly marriage, BioWare just got owned. I doubt we'll be able to have a threesome with a bisexual pirate and a Spanish elf. BioWare has nothing to worry about.
  22. How many slots does a specific body area have? I noticed 'cranium' has the social implant, the hacking implant, the stealth implant, and a small radar.
  23. I didn't know you could adjust visual settings on the XBox 360.
