Say hi to: Mr. James Zhang
1. This is not a fact. There is no evidence these were made for Lucasarts. Until Lucasarts copyright notices appear on the work. 2. OH NOES! This means nothing except they weren't intended to be seen at the time. This is very open to interpretation. You're just rumor mongering by reading too much into something and then trying to pass it off as fact. The art is from 2004, for crying out loud. This is no different than the people who take every little release by Lucasarts and Bioware as CONFIRMATION THAT KOTOR III MMO IS IN PRODUCTION FOR 2009 RELEASE. I'm not being "negative." I'm being realistic. This is proof of nothing. Except that a guy, who occasionally has worked with Lucasarts, made some Star Wars art back in 2004. And maybe he made it for KOTOR 3. Back in 2004. only those artists are allowed to use LucasArts on their own site as part of the main page who are either linking to Lucasarts.com or have a fulltime job there and these pictures are not visible on the guys real concepts site, they would be if the project would had been scrapped you aren't just 'realistic' its like you oppose the idea that Kotor3 might be in developement, did you hate kotor 1-2? EDIT: forget my last comment, i decided to ignore your try to create a flame war, anyone can decide for themselves how much accuracy and truth they think my thoughts about the pictures give, and what their own thoughts about the pictures are. I wish to hear the thoughts of the others, you Tale already said yours so please stop now

Say hi to: Mr. James Zhang
1) You're assuming these were created for a game that was WIP.2) You're assuming these belong to Lucas. The fact that they don't have copyright notices for Lucasarts implies these were done freely by this artist. IE, not sold to Lucasarts. Not done for an actual WIP game. No. That you found these means only that this individual made them. There is no importance here. No. Not showing does not mean "in use." could you please stop being so negative and actually SEE the facts? 1. the guy who made this works for LucasArts 2. the linkname of the place where the pictures is is quite clear on what they are: jzconcepts.com/images/website/hidden_links/KOTOR_3 3. concept arts only get 'copyrighted' if they are actually meant to be shown, i was visiting 5 devteams till now while they worked and if they shown me some real concept arts (be it on paper or in early stadium on the pc) none of them had any logo or somesuch attached to them yet whatever happened, why ever we didn't got a notification about the developement could still mean problems, as far i know LA this might very well be about licenses, but you can now stop being so defensive/negating about the pictures...or are you a secret LA employee, hmm?
-
Say hi to: Mr. James Zhang
we could think if there were finished concept arts but no game announcement that the game might had been trashed, but then again, these pictures wouldn't be there but in the desk of Lucas that i found these pictures only means the project is not dead, ergo 95% possible that its under developent even now maybe i did say a little too 'big' with the word confirmation, but the importance of the found doesn't get negated by it EDIT: also the fact that they only appeared now on the net and not before means the pictures were 'On the move', alas they were used

Say hi to: Mr. James Zhang
as i really don't know how long you can find the pics, i quickly combined some of them to upload it seperately: we already listened to rumors about KOTOR 3 till now, but this is equal with a confirmation, and if its in work since 2004 then we might get it in 2009-2010
-
The rumor
...will it be made by Obsidian? what i talk about: http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?sh...mp;#entry833081 i just found the pics then searched for the name of the artist so did i find his site and got to know he is really hired by LA
-
Say hi to: Mr. James Zhang
here is his site: http://www.conceptart.org/artist/james-zhang/ and here is a little extra http://www.jzconcepts.com/images/website/h..._links/KOTOR_3/ have fun, and do save the pics, i dunno how long you can access them there EDIT: apperantly the concept art was made already in 2004

Did Obsidian make any sort of appearance in GDC?
actually its the other way around, now more than ever since Bioware was bought by EA Umm........ok. Today Obsidian has more in common with Black ISle than Bioware, while Bioware managed to get a better profile on their new name, Obsidian is better in a lot of things by now, however this will only manifest in the minds of the people in the coming 5 years let me rephrase myself: "The isle was made of black obsidian" OK, but right now Bioware is a giant and Obsidian are yet to really make their mark, and by that I mean having a really big hit. still, Obsidian's little brother is rich, but still just a little brother

Are DnD clerics overpowered?
if i want to solo then i use my 'ultimate dragon' class combo: 4 lvl paladin/1 lvl sorcerer/ 1+ lvl dragon disciple/ 1+ lvl Weapon Master it can cast both arcane and divine spells but is majorly a warrior, and you can always get some healing scrolls or wands just like fireballs or lightning bolts i never use a spellcaster only char, maybe exceptions are elven wizards but i usualy put on them full plate's and let them make their own armament anyway clerics are a nice 'in between' option but that doesn't make it overpowered, one or two levels of it doesnt give any real bonus except the ability to memorize some spells and use items, but replace cleric levels with either paladin or druid levels and you already have some nice new persistent auras or abilities what don't lose of their importance as your multiclass char levels up of course in NWN or any other game a HEALER might seem to be overpowered, but that is the case in any non pnp game as far i know, people just envy their ability to heal, thats all

Are DnD clerics overpowered?
whatever advantages you give the cleric, still not many want to play them in a current campaign i am GM-ing i have a paladin and 3 druids but noone ever wants to play as a cleric, i think all of them have too much the idea about a classic european monk before them if they talk about a cleric, and old habits are hard to change

What are you playing now?
Just finished Culpa Innata, got it suggested by a friend, and i was suprised that i never heared about it before. It is an adventure ('investigator style') game in a possible futuristic, cold and profit oriented nation (or better said 'world union'), in 2047 it was released around late 2006-2007 (depending on where you live) The game is not the best in graphs, but that kind of thing never really mattered to me, however, i was captivated by the game's story as it started rolling (not the first 15 mins i have to admit, it seems i had a hard time to get it moving atleast for me) The music sometimes feeled strange but overall was a great enchantment to the atmosphere and many of the music scores i really LOVE. I only had such reactions to music like from the original Gabriel Knight 1, Baldur's Gate, Spellforce 1 and 2, or a movie example could be the 'Imperial March' of SW I myself always felt like that the real 'pnp spirit of RPG-s' became splitted into what now are the RPG and adventure PC genre-s. This game represents the very best in the adventure genre with its multiple options and outcome variables with a slight randomness what only gives to the feeling of a real story. The game as i got to know gained an adult (!?) rating because misinterpretation and...sillyness of the rating comittee (to put it nicely), i assure all that while it does have sex mentioned, and the player can twice even decide if the character should do it, it is not more adult themed than KOTOR or Mass Effect or Gabriel Knight. Bad marketing, especially from an unknown new game/franchise is always a killing blow to a new 'try' on the markets, so if you like good stories, real pnp and PC adventure games then give a day to try this game out here is the game's site to see a little trailer about the game, so you see that the graphs i mentioned while not being super aren't terrible neither, if you aren't picky about that and would play even 2D/isometric games if they have great stories (or even prefer that above 3D) then you will give the game a rating of 85% or above (my own rate for it would be 95% with totally ignoring graphs) http://www.culpainnata.com/ also here is a second opinion about Culpa Innata that you might aswell be interested in to read from their own forum http://www.culpainnata.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=256 My own special notes about the game: good: story music interesting world replay ability (better said the players willingness to replay it) that in unusal by adventure games hidden background info pieces funny things like the 'Joshua' computer or the Shoe Shop with 'Al' investigation goodies* (i love detective stories with interesting events) bad: for some people, graphs might be it for some reason not every sentence is subtitled, i always use subtitles on in games and especially adventure and detective ones (mainly because i am sometimes unsure about the meaning of some english words or that if i had understood them correctly at all, always good to double-check) minor issue with the cameras, but you can get used to it quite quickly so no worries some voice acting issues (but don't forget this was a low budget first try game and looking at it this way they still made a great job, even if they are unable to pronounce the hungarian names in the game - not to misunderstand, the game is not hungarian made and no i don't suggest it because that ) I was suprised myself about how good this game turned out after i started it sceptically, and i felt i should share my thoughts about it with some other people because of that EDIT: do not forget to patch it! i would have given it a lower ranking if i would had played it without the latest patch as i can see from the old forum complains there

Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition is on the way...
No, it wouldn't. Looking only at levels, it would make him a 12th-level character, since you cannot convert xp values directly between 2e and 3e, as they are too different. However, in your example that still leaves us with the problem of the character magically losing the ability to cast 4th, 5th, and 6th level spells in the transition. For a new "edition" of the "same game", that does not seem particularly elegant to me. I had a on-going campaign of several years at the time 2e went to 3e, and since the rules would not allow smooth conversion, there was no choice, even if I had liked 3e. So it was an easy choice. If the rules force the choice, then the rules lose. Period. Besides, none of the players asked for the change. Those of them who like and play 3e today still don't. i can only say 'gestalt' as an option for moving such chars to 3e and over

Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition is on the way...
fighting better monsters? using 1st and 2nd level spells? the orc is right: dual classing meant the former fighter is crouching behind his buddies for 7 levels worth of fights, tossing off cantrips. a slow and dull way to play through any module or campaign. and also d*mn unrealistic as he already knew how to fight, but forgot it for another 8 lvl-s?

Jagged Alliance 3 ???
You know, i just started to play 'just cause', and it suprised me how much it feels like a combination of JA and GTA, and those in the nearly best possible way to imbue in eachother. It has 'militia', it has sectors, it has city capturing. the part of GTa means you can drive dozens of vehicles, you only have your main, one 'mercenary' (special agent here) and it has FPS fighting instead tactical one what really makes sad (other than the no tactical fight) is that you have no RPG-like character creation/costumization and levels
-
Mass Effect is coming to PC
i don't because i am sure with minimum config i will be able to play it just like nearly anything else (exceptions are sumtin like Beowulf)

Jagged Alliance 3 ???
jeez, i liked those also very much..now im afraid if they make any SC2 at all how it would turn out (same company owns both rights of SC and JA) soccermom?

Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition is on the way...
I really don't think so. Most other races bring something that makes them stand out compared to the others. Halflings and gnomes just seem to be small versions of other races (humans and dwarves respectively). They just don't accomplish anything, other than being small. while elves are nature preservers and magicians, the dwarfs smiths and warriors, the gnomes are gemcutters and loregatherers, and the halflings are the agrivcultural race (note this is different from the elves 'role' because they cut woods to create new fields) and the race that is mostly always optimistic, and that helps to have a community stay on a normal lever of entertainment with having hope and to assure that that world's everydays don't get so grey and dull as ours (for the majority anyway) halflings are the quick and agile ones, sadly dnd doesn't represent this that great, from books and stories its clear that halflings are more nimble than even elves, but since both elves and halflings gain the same agility bonus in dnd, and since elves get the secret door detection and are considered to be the 'good looking' race they usually outclass the halflings. I say the race is great, but that the races in dnd are unbalanced and some subjugate others gnomes are the curious ones, they are also mastercraftsman as their cousins the dwarfs, but they have better abilities with the arcane, what you can't tell about the dwarfs. gnomes produce a great part of the magical items you can buy in shops, because they always refine their abilities and try new things out, if you find in a shop some strange item or something that has a new, unknown or unexpected ability then there is a huge chance the creator was a gnome, they are the best jewelers, this is important mostly because the magic style and the wizards that use gems, they are also great alchemists because they smell the minor differences in alchemical liquids better than any other player reace. again i have to tell the problem lies with the way dnd handles its races and the subjugation of some of them, also i have to agree with JB that the races now are very much predisposed, but not just by the book creators, sadly many people even as they are rpg-ers do not have enough imagination to create NPC/PC-s above the standard CASTES of the races and thus people suddenly don't expect more from that race anymore. spider, you mentioned Mazzy, she is a good example of a well created character, if you think about it you will realize not many GM-s (or sadly even some bookwriters these days) take the time to fully evolve a character and make it a true personality that people could hate or like. I suggest you to look at Claudio Pozas's art of some characters, you will see some well known 'types' of characters while many are more unique and interesting, its just some drawings, but if visual can be so different you can think about how good it could be to create a real background and characteristic for some of them.

tell that to their gods btw: you could say the same about humans, elves, orcs, or any other race then aswell

Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition is on the way...
I'm not sure exactly why gnomes get me. I'm not a fan of halfings much either, might just be the annoyance of small weapons. Could also be the lighter tone of all of their cultural stuff, or they way that most players always play goofy, "whimsical" gnome characters, and most of my games lean towards the darker side of things. JB, then you really never knew the little ones as I did, only once i had a player who played a gnome bard as one you described, I myself had a halfling barbarian who massecred the people who made stupid jokes on him...was quite a bloodbath, and a lot of times that happened. (well, atleast he gained leves quicker than the others) 1) Tieflings rul, gnomes drool. 2) Star Wars SAGA rules. ?

Interplay to make Fallout Online
Obsidian should buy Interplay....but then at once kick out Herve EDIT: this would also mean Obsidian could use for itself the old Black Isle logo after they bought Interplay....because guess what: the isle is made from OBSIDIAN!
