If Obsidian + Kickstarter = ?
Director commented on Chris Avellone's blog entry in Chris Avellone's Blog
TAKE MY MONEY. Also - anything cool, and maybe a little different and strange. Planescape Torment IN SPACE or something? -
Possible User Content (Dev Question)
Director replied to Kimono's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
If a developer has already stated that it's not going to happen, what more do you want? Other than them restating the above, I think your expecting too much. -
I completely agree that taking weapons off the enemy makes sense, (although may not be possible), and in that instance common / dated weapons should be the norm. I doubt that you can though, so that's probably moot. Also - since it's probably a limitless ammunition situation, there is less reason to be concerned with that.

Lets talk about guns
Director replied to Fearless_Jedi's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
No idea, but taking weapons off the bad guys is pretty common in the Bond / Bourne movies, so it would be nice. -
Viability of not killing opponents?
Director replied to Mirren's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
I imagine it's similar to Mass Effect in that regard, where a "Disabled" opponent would disappear just like a dead one. I have zero proof to back that up though. -
As a Spy game, I think all the weapons should be as cutting edge as possible. So as "Exotic" weapons, maybe things like the H&K MP2000 or other "future" weapons that are currently in prototype or just designs. I don't think that vintage weapons really fit the setting. Please, no arguments over which firearm is best, I'm just saying that a High Tech Spy Thriller should stick with High Tech Weapons.

Never played IWD, but I did enjoy IWD2, at least as far as I got with it. Really like the starting town, the ghost in the inn, the woman with all the cats, the guards you can inspire and cast bless on - that kind of thing. The battles did have something of an 'epic' feel which made is feel a bit more like a PnP game - (In fact I think, I liked it because it had a real PnP feel). I always thought JE Sawyer was being a bit harsh on himself when he just said it was a bad game. It was 10x better than ToEE, in terms of content at least, I think that they managed to achieve a goodish game in a shortish time frame.

So what sucks about the US Xbox version?
Director replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
But they *can* make changes before the international version is released in Feb, and they can make changes before the PC version is released. So listing any glitches is fully productive. -
I don't have a DVD-Rom, because - No games get released on DVD. As soon as they are - of course I'd buy one. (Still had to vote "Don't have a DVD drive, though) If TSL was released on DVD, I'd certainly think about upgrading. A few more games, and it would become a must have. It's strange that games that 'require' a certain standard of graphics card, get released all the time, but no one has yet said; "OK - we're releasing this game on DVD only, time to upgrade, suckers". The switch from Floppies to CDs was much quicker than the switch from CDs to DVD.

What are your expectations of TSL?
Director replied to jaguars4ever's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
While KoTOR was good, there were things that could have been better. More conversation between party NPCs, and the ability to turn them to the Dark Side, (or the side of goodness and fluffy bunnies), would have made it better. I'm hoping, (really, really hoping), that the storyline for TSL will be as good, and if the NPCs are as good, and the interactions even better, I hope it will get me over the fact that it looks and plays exactly the same. I have low hopes for the minigames, I was bored with each in under 30 seconds, and I know that they won't have changed very much. (Actually taking the Turret game out completely might be a good idea). -
Separate "draw weapon" and "flourish weapon"
Director replied to will_990's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It would be kewl if weapons were 'holstered' in 'safe' areas, and carried in 'danger' ones. Also - always bugged me that I couldn't twirl my blaster pistols or something... if the Jedi can spin their sabres, people should be able to pull off gun tricks too. -
As someone else already said - more relationships / conversation between the Party NPCs. I guess it's a bit tricky because the devs can't predict which characters your'll spent most of your time with, but in KoTOR I kept changing the group I took out, just to see them interact - and for the most part, nothing happened. (Whereas in BG2 - this was quite entertaining) Oh - also as mentioned already it would be nice to form more of a relationship with non Party NPCs. Whether they be the enemy or whatever... in KoTOR you tended to ditch any NPC that couldn't travel with you fairly quickly. I have faith that MCA is probably already pretty onto this kind of thing though. B)

Questions the the Devs - Take 2
Director replied to EnderAndrew's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
While I think of it - I'll add the fact that I didn't like the 'Dark Side look' of my character. Although I knew I was going to change appearance, I was sorta hoping for facial tattoos and stuff. The really pale face just didn't do it for me. (Although the evil underwear was pretty kewl) -
I suspect Microsoft will ensure that KoTOR 2 gets a healthy head start on the Xbox.

I just wanted to thank Akari for the replies that he did make before the thread fell apart. (And I think it's about to descend into a NVIDIA vs ATI debate)

I don't think there is much doubt that Delaware = KoTOR 2 'Electric Boogaloo'. The only question is will they announce it at E3?, and if so, what's the release date? I'm betting about 18 months after E3, (the original date will be sooner, but it'll get delayed).
-
Well, what LucasArts wants, LucasArts will get... I assume you can back that statement up?

Correct Answer = Who Cares?

It seems to be very hard to acquire accurate results on sales, although I assume that the publishers do have them. Also - I must buy a copy of Silent Storm.

I agree, what they say the rules are is irrelvant. The threads that they lock and the posts they delete will tell us what they really mean. After all - it's their forum, the rules could just read; "We'll delete anything we don't like, and ban anyone who makes trouble" I think that this will probably be the main topic on this forum, until Obsidian announce other games for us to discuss. But I don't think anyone can expect people to talk about stuff they used to do for too long. I think that goes without saying... I wouldn't want to do unpaid work either.

The problem there is that the people that dissolve the company would want to sell all of IPLYs IP at once, and not a little bit at a time.

The United States of New Zealand So... I guess I vote Austraila?

The Little Things That Got "lost In Translation"
Director replied to kumquatq3's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think they were just things that got dropped from the game, like the security spikes that Mission can make... Stuff that got removed later on, but there were still references to it that got left behind. If Project X is in fact "KotOR: 2 - Electric Boogaloo", then I think it'll be a good test for Obsidian to prove themselves. Certainly, if they get on well with Microsoft, there could be future games on the horizon. I wouldn't expect much to change on the engine side, while we can wish for a decent inventory, or being able to switch through NPCs items whenever we like, these are just console issues, that we'll have to get used to. -
