  1. Precisely! However on the note of comical value (which I agree is important), Im starting to think KOTOR1 was funnier I played KOTOR2 first and im about 15 hours into KOTOR1, but so far I am finding it very amusing Im pretty sure its a combination of HK-47 and the whole Bastila love interest thing... its unashamedly predictable and somtimes I can't help but just laugh out loud I don't know what it is, but if your just in it to get away from life for a while and get some entertainment, there is nothing quite like a totally transperant love story for ****s and giggles - Dan
  2. I don't think I can pinpoint too many specific things that i liked about TSL... I guess overall I enjoyed the story, or to some extent, the idea of the story. Its not fair to say I didnt enjoy it because on the whole I still liked the game, it was just the lack of completion and half-assed ending left me feeling extremely empty. That said though, I guess to even get to a stage that would leave me prone to feeling empty must say something for the quality of the game up until the end... At any rate, I can definitely say I enjoyed the characters, and the way they approached them, both individually as "people" and on the whole via the whole influence system. I loved the the way certain characters were very thought provoking... for me I thought Visas was an example of that - I loved her character and I think it was one of the strong points of the game... a much more mysterious female interest (not that I have anything against Bastila... "shut up and kiss me, you big hairy man!") Thats it! I really don't think I want to say any more, because to be honest I have trouble putting it into words... I honestly have trouble thinking of why I liked KOTOR2 despite its shortcomings.... I just did! - Dan
  3. lol... classic Like the time some fool was telling me how all people who can't spell should be wiped off the face of the planet to strengthen the jean pool hahaha
  4. Well if this thread is going to go sticky I should make mention of the new (and final) thread I made for my modified wallpaper. Based a few requests I took it a step further and ended up with a Exile, Visas, Bao-Dur, Handmaiden, Atton version. The new thread has both versions in it. http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=32942 Enjoy! - Dan
  5. Damnit! I guess it doesn't bother me that much.... its cool that someone else liked what i'd done enough to use it. It's just that when I would scroll through threads I related it to me, and now there is another... stealing my virtual face!
  6. Thats all good mate, I wasn't trying to put words in your mouth, I was more just talking in general, as I had heard the argument (that visas saw nihilus in the exile) being made before, and your post sort of served as a reminder of that For the record, I agree with what you said
  7. By the way, you're right. It just depended on whichever dialogue option the player selected. If the Exile had said, "Tell me what you saw," Visas Marr spoke of seeing "a graveyard of ships" and the remains of a great battle and atrocity (obviously Malachor V), which she claimed to have seen through the Exile as well. If the Exile had said, "What did you see when you looked at him?" Visas Marr simply replied, "A man, nothing more." <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Good point actually, and on that note, if you do it like I did the first time and don't push her to tell you what she saw (eg: "did you see what you needed to see?"), she says yes, and then basically says her demons have been vanquished and she wishes to learn the light side of the force from you and use it to do good in the galaxy, which I guess is basically her 'officially' turning her back on the dark side and the sith. The whole "Malachor V" response that she says if you choose the right options is interesting, and I did not know about it... but I still dont subscribe to the beleif that she sees Nihilus in the exile. Perhaps if you were a DS exile then maybe it would make more sense... but outside of that then it doesnt gel with me. - Dan
  8. Chirs: Heeyy birthday dude, you want some ice cream? Stewie: Yes... BUT NO SPRINKLES! ...for every sprinkle I find... I shall KILL you! hahah
  9. Perhaps it was 'just a man' like she said? I don't know, but I think I like to read into things as much as anyone, but I didn't have any reason to read too much into Visas' response when asked what she saw. I just took it almost as a bit of irony that basically that the source of everything that had taken her life from her and forced her into a life of slavery and hatred was "just a man" in the end... no-one special. - Dan
  10. lol The people rest your honor
  11. Thanks for all the comments... it's good to hear other people like this as well! Hit the nail on the head... I really have very little to work with on this, which is why it is hard - what you see is what you get. Haha! I would love to, but im afraid that is outside the realm of my skill leaving out the other two characters would just leave too much 'nothing' space, and any attempt to fill it in would likely look really obvious and bad And on top of that... they seem to have posed Visas and Brianna in exactly the same way... so putting them next to eachother would look a bit wierd. If we ever come across more proper stock art for the game (unlikely.. but who knows... maybe the characters they used in these wallpapers were premade models that had been posed and rendered?) then I could do more for you guys, but at the moment this is as good as I can do lol - one thing i will say is that after staring at this stuff while working on it (re: Visas and Brianna), whoever made the characters originally certainly had a case of the Laro Croft syndrome Not that im complaining... Cheers, - Dan
  12. Yeah, but I for one find it hard to beleive they could actually honestly beleive -that- was a good enough conclusion I mean cmon! You don't even get to SEE Atton or Visas or Handmaiden after you land on Malachor V... and Mira? Well her situation is equally strange, seeing as she should have been following in your wake through the Trayus Academy (in the LS game). I'm sorry, but having a lame, fairly predictable future read to me after that sort of game is not what i'd refer to as completion. Especially since its entirely possible now that we won't see some of those characters again. This makes it even more annoying, because I can live with them not finishing up the story properly, provided I had at least a fairly good idea that we would see the characters again in the next game (especially Visas seeing as she was my fav. character), but at this rate it's totally up in the air, which is annoying because I find it hard to stop pondering things until I have at least a fairly good idea about them I admit I have seen worse, but that has been in games where I wasn't exactly expecting a great story. - Dan
  13. Hi, Sorry for making another new post, but if I merely edited my old post, I was pretty sure it would just stay on the 2nd or 3rd page and probably get no attention. A few people commented that I should remove the Disciple from my modified Light Side wallpaper, so I obliged, and slotted Handmaiden in as well. This was NOT easy, but I feel its a great change... and i'm glad people suggested it and that I bothered to give it a shot. So here they are... Party of Male Exile, Visas, Bao-Dur, Handmaiden and Atton: 1600x1200 (Get it here) 1280x1024 Framed (Get it here) Party of Male Exile, Visas, Bao-Dur, Atton and Disciple: 1600x1200 (Get it here) 1280x1024 Framed (Get it here) Enjoy! - Dan Note: Once again I should stress the original artwork is property of Lucasarts and Obsidian, I merely edited it for my own purposes, however I thought others may wish to get them for personal use, hence my post here.
  14. Hey, you stole my avatar... no fair! i made that
  15. I'm actually a web/graphic designer by profession, so I should hope so I'll see how I go adding in the handmaiden in place of the disciple, but no promises... there is only so much I can do without making it look weird (without the model renders and such the original creators would have had access to). As it was it took a fair bit of time to adjust the finer points of Visas so she still looked like she does in the game, but didn't have the "evil" red presence that the models had in the dark side wallpaper, and in the end it was more of a passive thing... like you would notice it if you compared it directly the old one, but as it stands you cant necessarily see the changes. - Dan
  16. It's not a sketch, but I thought I would make mention here that I made a modified version of the official Light Side KOTOR2 wallpaper to inclued Visas instead of the Handmaiden. It still has some issues, but it was no halfassed job, and I think it turned out quite well Feel free to grab it from this thread: http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=32917 Now back to the sketches! - Dan
  17. Well then you'll be happy to know in a some ways he is wrong But I wont spoil the details for you So there, now your back at square one :D
  18. Thanks! and yes, I did do the modifications myself, but as I said the original wallpaper was made by some talented people other than myself and is copyright to them. You could find the original over at www.kotor2.com
  19. Two great posts! I enjoyed reading that... though I my brain hurts now... those misbehaviing quotes are a real killer
  20. Great post, I see your point, and its very valid... I hadn't considered that angle up until now. - Dan
  21. This might be treading on some slightly unsteady ground legally, but I took it upon myself to modify the Light Side KOTOR2 wallaper from the official Lucasarts website to include Visas (in the place of the Handmaiden) It was more effort than you would think, and its certainly not perfect (there are some obvious issues), but its good enough for what I wanted it for, and since it was infact a fair slog, I thought I would share it in case there were others that would use it. Get the large (1600x1200) version here Get the large (1280x1024) version here - Dan PS: The original wallpaper is copyright to Lucasarts I imagine, and I certainly did not create that, I merely modified a bit. Not my fault that they decided to only tell half the story of Visas Edit: Added a new version which I made for myself to use as it looks best to me on my LCD at 1280x1024.
  22. lol From what I heard in KOTOR2, I thought the Mandalorian voices sounded much more like a Kiwi accent than Aussie... and that SORT OF made sense too, in a round about non-sensical sort of way (heh) because in Episode II Jango Fett (who if im not mistaken is the 'last' of the Mandalorians) was played by a bloke from New Zealand, Temuera Morrison.
  23. haha wtf! no thank you Progress does look great though, and it would go a long way to tide everyone over until kotor3. Does anyone know off hand if this would work in with existing saved games? Seems unlikely but i'm just curious... - Dan
