Just Me Or Are the Scripts Horrible
DarthSchlong replied to BudaKhan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Unfortunately the combat system doesn't really affect the gameplay that much: as has been noted elsewhere on the forum, the bonuses gained due to the PC's level far outweigh the inherent bonuses from class, attribute and items. This means that as soon as your character reaches level twelve or so, you won't take more than two rounds to kill everything in the hostile party. You have more to be concerned about with the rushed, linear ending to the game ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The game had an ending???? I thought it just stopped and had a simple conversation that reminded me of thoose old "Choose you own adventure" books. -

Yeah, this was not even close to being finished. -
A "finished" verson of KoTOR2 from Obsidian?
DarthSchlong replied to romeo_longsword's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Why? Is it a lot better? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> IMO the story isn't better. However, the overall feel of the game is better, since it's complete and very polished. Plus, it gives you a better insight into the events of Kotor2. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, it is a lot better. I played through the first one about a dozen times end-to-end, and many more times just starting saves and playing parts. Don't think it's perfect, though -- it isn't -- part of the hype for the sequel was the anticipation of circumventing the shortcomings of the first. Ironically, the shortcomings of the second far outweigh the shortcomings of the first, however. All debate about which KotOR game is best notwithstanding; there is not a lot of choice when it comes to sci-fi RPGs in the games market, so it certainly is worth a play. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> True, not alot of Sci-Fi RPGs but, doesn't Jade Empire look sweet? -
A "finished" verson of KoTOR2 from Obsidian?
DarthSchlong replied to romeo_longsword's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Why? Is it a lot better? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, KotOR 1 has an ending so it is better. Bioware spent a year just writing the story. That is the same amount of time OE had for whole job of making KotOR 2. Given the short time frame OE was given ( why did they agree to it? ), they should have cut out all the engine enhancements and made a complete story and if time allowed add robes and crap like that after you have a story that includes and ending in it. -
Tip: Rush the Patch, NOT the game!!

Judging from the e-mail address of the tech support, it is apparent that LA outsources their support through Absolute Quality (www.aqinc.com). Not saying that that is necessarily a bad thing. Apparently quite a few companies go through them to provide multi-lingual support, so they must be fairly reputable. Most likely the only support questions they can answer are the ones that LA has provided them with. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> They either good or cheap. I am betting on cheap. -
I'm done. My recommendation.

Hey if you want to play a NEW game, try Freedom Force vs. The Third Reich it actually WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! While you're at it, cruse the bargain bin and get Freedom Force too! Those are great games by a developer that CARES about making QUALITY games for PC.... Lotsa mods too! Find GOOD PC games here! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Freedom Force vs The Third Reich is indeed a good game. I have not encountered a single bug in the game either. Oh, and while I have not finished it, I am sure they put an ending in the game. -
I would help you but I do not know what Action Replay is.
-
I will just get Dragon Age instead. I realize some people don't like Bioware's storytelling but they would never do this to their customers, publisher be damned.

What happened to the transit system?
DarthSchlong replied to Hive's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Did a great job removing it out of a Manual who had to be released 3+ months later then... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, I had the same questions and one of the devs said it was only available in 11 areas and they had not tested it much so they cut it. I think LA does the manual so they might not even know it was cut. It is not like LA did any QA. -

The transit system was only going to be available in 11 areas so it was cut. -
Freezing, Glitches, & Broken Quests
DarthSchlong replied to Sophrosune's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I have never had a single problem with KotOR 1 on either of my Xboxes. -
They did publish Mercenaries.
-
Jade Empire got me to buy an Xbox. I swore I was never going to get one but after I saw the first preview of Jade Empire, I knew I was going to buy one. Fast Forward three months.. I now have two Xboxes and mumerous games. I even prefer KotOR on it. No worrying about system specs or drivers, just pop in a disc and play. My wife and I love playing multiplayer and co-op games on them. Console games seem to be more "social" . No patching stinks but, I have been burned on numerous PC games before too.
-
And Malachor V was not predictable? Nobody would shut up about it. Buy hey, glad we all have different tastes. What games do you like though?
-
Yeah, Dragon Age is still a must buy though. If NWN2 has same type of dark and depressing storyline then I will pass on it. I would really like to see OE do something with a more traditional storyline once. I mean, not all OE games can be second act stories, can they?
-
I can't imagine that OE would want to work with LucasArts again after the way this game turned out. If that is true then some other developer will be making KotOR III and I will not be purchasing it. The only reason I purchased KotOR II was because OE was "blessed" by Bioware. Because of this blessing by Bioware, I am willing give OE the benifit of the doubt on KotOR II and place the lions share of the blame on LucasArts. I will be waiting for NWN2 to make my final judgement on OE but I think Atari is the publisher on that one and my opinion of them is not much better than LucasArts so I hope OE has gained something from KotOR and not put themselves in this position with a publisher again.

I have always heard that all the money was in selling games. That the actual hardware was break-even at best. That would make me think that Microsoft would love for you to buy Xbox without owning an Xbox.
-
hahah, tthose damn clones are working on something sinister It would be crazy if you took Bao Dur with you and you got all of them at once. Midnight Hawk that is odd. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That would have been great for KotOR1's Star Forge. Almost as funny as an army of T3s

It's the understated intensity "chicks" dig it. My wife said that , the understated intensity bit, not the chick bit. I just typed that because she is watching. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I guess understated intensity would be sexier that sleep deprived. Thanks for explaining that.
-
Glad to hear you liked the voice. I thought it was ok. He always sounded "sleepy" to me though.

ding! ding! ding! we have a winner. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey, people can see my posts. I was begining to wonder.
-
then why does every single one of your posts include a comparison between the two? seems to me youre the one thats making the issue a "bioware vs. obsidian" one. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are you really this ignorent? Please seek and read my original post in this thread. This game is a *sequal. You compare any and all things after-- to the *original product (KOTOR1 created by BIOWARE). Not only is it a sequal but the same engine was used from Bioware's KOTOR1. Any comparison between the two is more than legitmate, fanboy. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think the problem is your confusion between "facts" and "opinions".

Ten things I liked about TSL: 1. Atton made me laugh a couple of times. 2. Mira seemed to be a well thought out character. 3. A couple of the in games movies were really great. 4. Darth Nihlus looked really cool. 5. Kriea's voice acting was pretty good. 6. Loading times seemed faster than KotOR1. 7. I liked the joke with GOTO's name. 8. I was happy to see T3 back. 9. Some of the bugs were down right funny. On Nar Shadaar the cutscene of the bounty hunters and them not despawning. Well it was just too funny passing the "statues" as I ran around Nar Shadaar. 10. It almost felt like Star Wars. Well, thats ten things I liked about TSL. I admit I have posted some pretty negative stuff about the game and OE but as Tony Soprano says "You can't put crap back in a donkey" so I might as well consentrate on the things I do like about the game because I have already bought it.
-
Thanks. I will go read over them now.
-
Yeah it is sad. Posting something that is argumentitive seems about the only way to get anyone to reply to your posts on these boards lately. I have had my issues with the game but I tried to "show Obsidian the love" by writing ten things I liked about the game.
