  1. Another possibility is that they cut this on purpose, to leave more loose ends ! To make it more mysterious and leave more room for speculation. There are precedents. "2001 Space Odyssey" initially had a more specific ending. It was also more specific about HAL 9000, and what went wrong with it. That was changed later for no other reason than to make the movie more open-ended.
  2. I think he misread, like me. When you save in 1.05, you can't load that game in 1.04. That's what the line says.
  3. Paladins don't have as many offensive skills and talents as Fighters. They have some very good ones, like Sworn Enemy which grants +15 Accuracy and +20% (I think) damage against that one enemy. Zealous Focus gives +6 Accuracy to everyone in a small area. On the other hand, none of Paladin skills reduce damage dealt. Fighters deal less damage with Knockdowns, Defender slows down attack rate, Guardian reduces Accuracy. Many Paladin orders have a talent which boosts allies while performing special attack Flames of Devotion. Even that doesn't slow them down.
  4. You should customize your chants. When you select the chanter, the rightmost icon can be right clicked on to configure up to 4 "phrase sets". You can switch those sets in combat, but must have them ready before. Level 1 phrases are the weakest, and last 4 seconds. They have the advantage of charging the chant counter the fastest. Phrases continue to linger for a short time, and the last phrase still provides benefits when the next phrase has started. For example level 1 phrases have 4 second chant time plus 2 second linger time. They keep your chanter busy for 4 seconds, but provide benefits for 6 seconds. So if you configure a chant to use two different level1 phrases, it may work like this: XXXXxx..XXXXxx..XXXXxx..XXXXxx.... ....YYYYyy..YYYYyy..YYYYyy..YYYYyy There are moments where you're benefiting from 2 phrases at the same time despite the fact your chanter can only sing one at a time. Level 1 invocation (activated spell) costs 3 points. Level2 is 4 points, level3 - 5 points. When you have enough points for a level1 invocation, you will hear a subtle sound and the chant counter will flash. Invocations tend to be more powerful than spells of other classes. Summoning invocations can be especially good.
  5. They're not different races, they are separate species with distinct evolutionary lineages. Less like white people and black people, more like gorillas and chimpanzees. If it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, it's a duck. I don't care about lore justification. The point is, they only superficially differ in appearance, size and shape. There is no reason sex would be impossible. Most fantasy settings draw lizardmen - who hatch from eggs - with boobs ! And I hate to shatter your childhood, but male otters are known to brutally rape baby seals. Dolphins are huge jerks, too. Gang rape, killing the young of other species for fun, and they try to hump humans too at aquapark, just like dogs(who do that anywhere, not just at aquaparks, but they don't have prehensile penises, so it evens out). I would post a safe for work youtube link, but I'm not eager to probe where the banning starts. The reason you haven't heard about inter-species sex attempts (more like rape) among animals that for many years it was a taboo subject. Early explorers were too shocked and too prude, it was considered unwholesome to talk about this. Dr. Levick is a good example (safe for work, no graphic imagery) http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2157129/Sexual-depravity-penguins-Polar-explorer-discovered-century-ago-revealed-time--shocking-print.html P.S. I'm not a furry.
  6. We have a saying in my country: "Opposites attract each other." Foreign-looking people get a lot of attention from opposite sex. You are very, very naive if you think slightly different appearance would discourage masses from having a one night stand. Black-skinned guys are rumored to be well endowed, and women are eager to check if it's true. Many consider Asian women hot, the same goes for "latinos". Blondes are in high demand in southern countries, and black-haired dudes/gals with darker complexion in northern ones. "Interracial" is a big thing in porn, too. I'll be the first to admit female orlans look hot, I'm 203cm tall (6ft 8in) and very short women are a big turn on for me. It frequently works the other way too. If you look around, you are likely to see couples of very tall guys with short girls. Basically your defense of the plot hole is argument for racism in its purest form. "I don't want to touch that lady/dude because he looks different.". You attribute strong racism to people of Eora, and back it up by saying you wouldn't touch them either.
  7. Disciplined Barrage is a thing. There are weapons that stun or knock down on crit. You can emulate Knockdown by opening a fight with Disciplined Barrage and a single 1-handed weapon, too. Also, Disciplined Barrage has good synergy with Lore. What he loses by not taking Knockdown early he makes up by more accurate scrolls.
  8. marked prey is the same in 1.05 .. Only with 0 recovery delay (you can instantly wack the target after applying it) .. 1.05 auto converts 1.04 saves . No need to start a fresh game.. This: * Marked Prey and Sworn Enemy have been set to 0 recovery actions, so they can be used and the Ranger/Paladin can immediately act again. (...) Items, Spells, and Abilities (...) * Marked Prey is now working at intended. I misread about saves. NEW saves are incompatible with OLD versions, which isn't a big deal. I guess it's Nuclear Throne then until 1.05 :D.
  9. "Marked Prey" is now working as intended... what does it mean ? The tooltip says +20 damage in 1.04. It actually adds a +40% damage lash in 1.04. The only thing I really don't like in this patch is savegame incompatibility. Instead of waiting for 1.05, I'll finish my story playthrough with the remaining companions (Pallegrina, Aloth, Grieving Mother).
  10. Could we please get Animal Companion damage statistics on ranger's Character screen ?
  11. It sounds like you don't like balance, just relying on a few ridiculously powerful mechanics. I like: - cipher, priest, wizard getting more health and endurance. Will be easier to make hybrids. Caster classes less pidgeon holed. - cipher starting with half of current focus (1/4 absolute), hardly a buff. They will have to rely more on generation. - interdiction is a powerful, powerful talent, it can use a nerf. - Lightning Strikes buff - 25% Fan of Flames reduction, GOOD - watcher abilities have more range, they were quite bad outside early game. - WOW, Arcane Veil +50 deflection ??? - Scroll of Paralysis nerf. Hard to argue paralysis is too weak in 1.04 ! - Blizzard WAS very strong. A level2 spell I kept using on Adra Dragon. - Noxious Burst trap WAS the most powerful player trap by far. Lackluster traps improved. - Marked Prey, Sworn enemy 0 recovery actions
  12. Animal Companions got nerfed in 1.03, when their Intelligence has been lowered from 10 to 5. This affects Takedown skill, the Stag, and the Lion.
  13. In general, companion quests are rather predictable. The common theme is disappointment. It's up to you how your companions will deal with the disappointment. I'm on my second playthrough with the remaining companions (Pallegrina, Grieving Mother, Aloth) and I already know what will happen. They won't find what they're looking for. Speaking of atheism, it's practically impossible to prove something doesn't exist. There's no evidence for the Loch Ness monster, so for me it's rational to assume it doesn't exist. Do you know about the Invisible Pink Unicorn, the goddess of atheists ? Her existence can be proved in two ways: 1) By logic: We can't see her - therefore, she's invisible 2) By heart: Deep in our hearts, we all know Invisible Pink Unicorn exists. Pictured below:
  14. I haven't tried Defensive Bond yet, but it sounds really nice for melee ranger. It increases defense against area attacks by 15, 25 upgraded. I doubt it works against attacks that are not instant, though. For example if a Rolling Flame or Iconic Projection hits both the ranger and companion, there's a delay between them. I doubt the ability waits to see if both are affected.
  15. The quest is not about "many people", it's about Salty Mast. It's an obvious oversight. If it was really about same race prostitution, the harassing thugs from the Dozens would say something about filthy orlans or smelly elves, and how they deserve a proper human or whatever.
  16. You know as well a I do the excess Ranger accuracy turns into crits. Rangers can also be wood elves, that's even more crits. Animal Companion deals damage over time. 1. Make "Master's Call" automatically learned at level1 2. Make "Master's Call" 1/encounter instead of 2/rest 3. Make "Master's Call" not attack or knock down enemies 4. Add a late game talent which adds attack and knockdown to "Master's Call" Result: more survivable Animal Companion.
  17. Speaking of more exotic companions, I would like a... ... ranged companion, like a small wurm. I think Josh said a while ago in one of development updates "all animal companions are melee". ... a llama. With a face spitting attack that inflicts Blind. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QeLgXiunKYM ...a Honey Badger. Tremendous fortitude and intelligence. Can be upgraded with a talent to cast level1 druid spells. You can see a badger casting a spell at 3:20+. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c36UNSoJenI
  18. I had a similar situation, my PC was a druid firing a blunderbuss. I fought in the Easterwood graveyard against the rogue Eothas priest party. One of their spells knocked my PC druid prone, I think he was reloading at the time.
  19. Vicious Aim: +10 Accuracy Stalker's Link, or whatever it's called: +10 Accuracy Ranger's base accuracy is 30, +5 from average. So very soon you can have a Ranger who has base +25 Accuracy relative to others. And there are plenty of ranged weapons in the game that stun or knock down on crit. What else do you want ? There's a hunting bow, war bow, all arbalests do that, scepter of prone, rod of stun, there might be an arquebus from a warden reward. The hazel wand triggers Jolting Touch. Marked Prey is +40% damage on a single target. Bad ? Stunning Arrows - bad ? Driving Flight with a powerful ranged weapon makes you deal 150% damage essentially. Also, PotD is the least tested and least balanced difficulty level. Quick and dirty.
  20. I heard Animal Companions shared Endurance with their owners in beta. I can imagine it could be frustrating at times, but if that's the price for having a beefy companion, wouldn't you pay it ? Can someone from beta team tell us how it worked ? I imagine it demanded a lot of micromanagement. But even that could be improved. "Master's Call" is great for saving your animal companion. It could be learned automatically by ranger on level 1, but without the "knock down enemies prone" effect. The knockdown effect would be available as a late game talent.
  21. Races of Eora look so similar to each other it wouldn't make a big difference, they could still look attractive enough. And in any case it would be trivial to build a business around it compared to fretting over bitter squash seeds. At the very least it requires some further justification. The Dozens certainly look desperate to get laid. I think they simply forgot about that. "No interracial offspring" is convenient for preventing the can of worms that is half-elves. But it comes with its own issues.
  22. Sagani sounds much too bland for someone from an isolated tundra village ! She describes Massuk as a tight-knit community, almost a family! As a general rule, the more isolated a community is, the weirder and more conservative it is. Also, for 5 years her only company was Itumaak, which may have 5 Intelligence, but wouldn't be able to teach her a flawless American accent. Pallegrina sounds like a foreigner, no question about it. Kana has no accent, UNTIL he mentions some foreign names, like Gabrannos, Tanvii ora Toha - then his accent is thick. You get an impression he simply speaks many languages well, like a scholar with a knack for distant travels would.
  23. The quest makes a fuss about bitter squash seeds, which are used for abortion. Doemenels control the trade in the seeds, resulting in high prices and high profits from prostitution (Salty Mast brothel). Except that it's utterly pointless. Races in Eora can't have offspring with each other. They can only have offspring within that race. http://new.spring.me/#!/JESawyer/q/476434993220970680 So as long as you don't mind some interracial sex, Eora is a swinger's wet dream. Hairy orlans, big breasted aumaua. Literally, the only thing Maea in Salty Mast had to do is to prohibit same race sex. Sexually transmitted diseases are probably still a thing, but that's not what the quest is about.
