What you did today
Recovering flu-wise, I'm at about 90% I think. Mostly the cough left. Oddly, this means I'm more sleepy. Guess one doesn't get a lot of quality sleep when sick, perhaps. So it was a quiet day, listening to the rain, snoozing off and on. Nice to see some rain this week. Clears the allergens, soothing sound, gives moderate temps. This weekend...no plans. Might buy myself a 40" TV (not pc monitor) for this room and set it up with a cablebox. I'm getting a little tired of competing for the living room TV w/hubby and his couch-gaming. He doesn't like sports and half the stuff I watch, anyway. Plus that way I can have sports on while still doing something else on the PC's.

Your favourite game list after RPGCodex revealed theirs
Most of my fave games "evah" aren't RPG's.

The Funny Things Thread.
First thought: "Ohhh, that's what people mean by "life hack." Must have been in the right mood, because for some reason I found a lot of it hilarious. Or when they worked, kinda neat.

What's on the idiot box... Part 2
Homeland - end of 3rd season. :verymad: Well...that's it for me re: that show. No reason to watch anymore. Not that what happened maybe wasn't needed/necessary, but nothing about the show has shown me that my interest would survive beyond that they did at end of Ssn. 3.

What are you playing now?
After "everyone" kept telling me I should try it, I bought Total War:Rome Gold disc set at some point. I think I got to the first tutorial and thought it was more RTS than I wanted (at the time), but I should give it another shot since I barely did anything.

What are you playing now?
Here's 10min. from someone's Let's Play of LotR 2. Gives you the idea of the non-combat part (combat/siege was done on a separate map/format). I loved that flute tune, too. LofM (4 minute mark for gameplay)

What are you playing now?
I bought Lords of Magic, realized it wasn't at all like I thought it was going to be (slightly more akin to HoMM, where you explore a map with an avatar?), and shelved it. So I can't comment on it. It wasn't all that well received initially, partly because of the single-map structure, although I think it might have been looked at more favorably as time passed.

What are you playing now?
Never played LotR3. But after taking years in development processes (wasn't released until 2004, according to wiki), it was turned into a RTS (not turn-based) and was very different from #2 gameplay wise. It did get decent reviews at the time, I think. LotR2 was admittedly simplistic but I really liked it. It had a faint touch of city-build feel to it, even tho you weren't actually building per se. The time/turns to build castles/move around the map, population happiness, waiting for population to tick up again after sucking peasants out for armies, hiring mercenaries, etc.

AMD R9 290X
I had a fevered dream that I was taking my PC apart to stick a bunch of cool new stuff in it. I woke up a sad panda. So yeah, I'm starting to feel all jealous-like at threads like these, again. At least a year, maybe two before I can justify new rig/s. Wonder what gpu's will be like then.

What are you playing now?
Remember Lords of the Realm 2? I kinda wish someone would make a game kinda like that, again. That is, turn-based, plus if I didn't want to, I didn't have to do the on-field combat part (there was an EZ button, just lose more armies to the RNG). Yes, sometimes I'm lazy. Mostly tho, I used to love the farming/building up my armies in that game...the little cow and plowing the field animations per turn and all that...in fact, think I'll go play it.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
I think I've played (or partially played) only about 8-10 on that list. "Serious" story cRPG's were never my biggest obsession, especially in the early days. I did find it interesting that they put Kotor2 over Kotor1. I always had the impression the latter was more popular.

Movies you've seen recently
30 Days of Night (2007) - vampire movie. Not Twilight vampires. Was it good? Had a decent concept but no, not really. But, but ... not Twilight vampires! So I still liked it. Plus it has a few people in that was sorta funny to see in a horror movie. Josh Hartnett, Ben Foster ... Danny Huston as the lead vampire was a hoot.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
Not that I'm very knowledgeable, but that's how it feels to me too. Indie games and their development are getting a lot more attention overall. Which overall is a good thing, even if it means I have to wade through tons of titles I'm not personally interested in. I'll be curious what direction the bigger-budget/AAAAAAA (can never remember how many A's) may go in the next few years. How influenced they may be...if at all, of course. alan's point has validity too, tho.

What you did today
"I come from a land down under! *mumbledontknowwords* and men chunder! Can't you hear can't you hear the thunder! better run, better - " ... wait a minute. What the devil is "chunder"? Music is funny....you can happily sing along to a song on the radio for 30 years and have no idea what you're singing. I know what Vegemite is already, but...thankfully, we now have the internet! Which means I can discover that "chunder" means anything from puke/vomit to a Drovian curse word from some Star Wars novel. I am enlightened! *turns song back on* "better run, better take cover! ...."

What you did today
I don't believe in UFO/alien sightings, but if one landed in my backyard, I might change my mind. So far it hasn't happened. Finally feeling halfway normal - I think the fever finally broke/is mostly gone. My pathetic remaining muscles are clamoring for movement, so I'm going for a leisurely neighborhood stroll, armed with a lot of tissues and cough-drops in every pocket. Maybe I'll buy some soup from the market on the way home.

The Funny Things Thread.
That is rather interesting to watch a few times. Plus, if you turned the video on its side, it'd be one of those sand picture thingies!

What you did today
So now you have the rest of the day to gambol about in? Snow angels? Snowball fight? Build cute little snow-rats next to a round of snow-cheese, on the patio? Ouch.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
True enough. We can still hope, but without holding our breaths. @Keyrock I didn't like Evil Genius enough to finish it, let alone replay it. It didn't feel like DK to me at all, outside of the "dig/build rooms!" aspect. But it was interesting for a while. I think I spent a fair bit of time just fooling around in the first few or more missions or something. Can't remember how far I got, really. Heh.

Armour & weapon designs - a plea (part IV).
Never mind the armor, I'm digging that lion mane hair. Or whatever it is. ...ok, the armor's not bad either.

RANDOM VIDEO GAME NEWS
 ...but really, I'm not surprised at all. Not at all. It's sad, tho. If only because if the idea of a "real" DK sequel was micro-slim before, it's probably completely non-existent now. Oh well...I tend to find lately that I'd rather play the old original versions vs. a modern reboot/sequel 98% of the time, anyway.
