  1. your portrait is perfect, and I totally agree with you, you're such a big guy!
  2. I'm glad we live in a world were the real Rance doesn't need to worry for sjw BS. ;^)
  3. People being upset with the limericks removal just imagine this: The new limerick makes fun of the people complaining about the joke in the first place, from this day to their last day, whenever they play through this game, there will be a piece of text mocking them in the game. Now shill out. my reaction to all of this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rXozZ7JhTRs
  4. I find it kinda hilarious that the new limerick is making fun of the people crying about the original one. Good job guys gahahaha!
  5. I joined this thread late but I have not seen any anger directed at trans people since I joined. and also, you speak of transpeople like they are one "hivemind" or "entity", I have seen several transexuals in favor of keeping the joke in the game.
  6. You mean, criticizing speech you disagree with? Yes, that is the liberal freedom of speech. It's not criticizing if you want to enforce people to remove what they wrote. It's more then that. Anyways I don't care If not for this thread I wouldn't even see the limerick in game. I can't phantom why would this be so much of a deal. The people complaining about the joke don't have the power to force Obsidian to remove it(thank god). They are entirely within their rights to complain about something they don't like. And you are entirely in your right to disagree with them.
  7. Hey! I remember back in the day of Baldur's Gate that you could create your own voice packs for your characters. I have very fond memories of my Conan the Barbarian voice pack that I used for my main character Crom the Barbarian(original, right?) Now with Pillars of Eternity I feel that it's time for Crom to relive those glory days. Is it possible to create custom voice packs for Pillars of Eternity? Thanks.
  8. Was it, though? Because from what I've seen, people were politely pointing out their concerns, Obsidian said they were looking into it, aaand... that's pretty much it. I literally can't find anything more harsh than "this joke is vaguely tasteless, you might want to look into it". But for some reason, this prompted others to start wailing on and on about censorship and evil SJWs making mountains of molehills. Also, harrassment. Bandwagoning indeed. I don't know where you have been looking but a few days ago when this whole "controversy" was fresh I saw some pretty vile harrassment and accusations being thrown around from both camps. But it seems like this entire "outrage" have mostly died down now. I would prefer if someone created a mod that removed the backer content instead of Obsidian doing anything about it(they are probably busy with the bugfixing right now) that way people like the OP or people having a problem with the joke can download that mod and be happy.
  9. I'm not sure what your point is. Also, you should be legally forbidden from ever using the word "fallacy" until you learn what they are and why is it useful to have a working knowledge of them My poiny being that your argument didn't have on. What I replied to had no bearing on the discussion what so ever and was simply an appeal to emotion. I fully understand the wording and so far what I've seen the most is simple bandwagoning. As to trading insults, well you can surely keep doing it if you so wish. Just don't drag me into it. No, I mean, what was your point with the statement "a lot of people find a lot of content offensive; media doesn't have to conform to them"? Case seems pretty clear-cut: somebody politely pointed out that the limerick is kinda problematic, Obsidian almost immediately responded by contacting the backer who submitted it and asking him whether he's cool with its removal, he said yes, so it's probably going to be removed. At least this is what I've heard. So what exactly is the point of pointing out that media doesn't have to conform to people who find content offensive? Is conforming to the wishes of opressed groups inherently bad and they should stop doing it? Also, I don't think it's insulting to point out that a working knowledge of fallacies is generally best used to check one's own logical processes, not to use it as a bludgeon in internet arguments. "Obsidian almost immediately responded by contacting the backer who submitted it and asking him whether he's cool with its removal, he said yes, so it's probably going to be removed." source on this?
  10. The joke is about trans people? When I read it I thought it was about some guy mistaking an elf guy for a woman. I guess I'm elfphobic...
  11. ...And you don't think that trans people may be better suited to judging whether a transphobic joke is indeed transphobic or not? I would agree with this. But I would also think that a priest is well qualified to determine what is offensive to religious people, a 45 year old soccer mom is well qualified to determine what's offensive to mothers, yet I wouldn't want them removing offensive content everywhere. Except, y'know, when priests or soccer moms voice their concerns over content being offensive to their peer group, the internet hate mob doesn't descend on them and dig through their facebook photos to mock them for not being feminine enough, which is a thing that happened to the person who complained about the limerick. Or so I've heard. But, y'know, transphobia totally isn't real. Which hate mob are we talking about? The one that sends death threats to people and attempt character assassinations? Or the hate mob that sends death threats to people and attempt character assassinations?
  12. Please delete this thread, it seems like this whole "outrage" have died down and will soon be forgotten(hopefully), don't give these people more attention by creating threads about it. As for the soundcloud, I think he makes some excellent points in it, and the people that are upset should listen to him.
  13. Except that people like Totalbiscuit have to go to therapy because of the threats and harrassment taking such a psychologial toll- There are other examples of the "anti-gamergaters" trying to have people fired becuase they don't agree with them. I don't want to say that most of the people complaining about the "transphobic" joke are extremists, but some of them are, I don't want to mention names but some of the people spearheading the mob have several times in the past said both questionable and outright disgusting things.
  14. they are a all a bunch of hypocrites. Bingo. They are no better than the "gamergaters", both sides are equaly disgusting. Oh, I know how disgusting the "gamergaters" are. They get accused of doing things that third party trolls do, and for having ideas they don't have. How horrible of them to being blamed for things they don't do, and for holding the beliefs they don't hold. "it's about ethics in gamez jurnaliz" right? Please, these rotten eggs in gamergate are still part of gamergate. That's not to say there's not good people in both camps, but their voices can't be heard because of all the screaming trolls. Anyways, this is hardly the thread to discuss things like gamergate, and I'm sorry for bringing them up in the first place.
  15. You're talking about Gamergaters, right? 'Cuz that's standard procedure for them. I'm talking about both sides, since both sides are equally disgusting.
  16. I don't think the term "Social Justice Warrior" should be used for these people, because they don't really care abut social justice, and if they do they are a all a bunch of hypocrites. No, the term that should be used for them is bullies, because that's what they are. If people don't agree with them they form twitter mobs to harrass the person, they attempt character assassinations, and worst of all, death threats. How can a person that do things like that say with a straight face that they fight for "social justice"? They are no better than the "gamergaters", both sides are equaly disgusting.
  17. And if you are a paladin or priest you should get the debuff "not a virgin", which will, if you don't seek forgivness for your sins, turn you into a Blackguard. Also, is this serious? First the rage over a "transphobic" joke, which seems to have died down the last couple of days, or have just been limited to twitter, and now people are upset about prostitutes in a medieval fantasy world?
  18. Can't someone just create a mod that removes the backer characters and the "transphobic joke"? That way the people that don't want it in their game can be happy and the people that still want it in the game can also be happy? I don't think Obsidian should take the time to fix these "problems" themselves, They should focus on the actual problems, you know, bugs that ruin everyone's game.
  19. I have enough attractive female friends that I don't need to imagine. Allegedly. I'm an economics major. We have some really sexy women majoring in this field if study. That's true, the secondmost attractive woman I allegedly know is an economist. Law isn't actually bad on that front, if you don't mind a little ice. And now, could everbody just wake up and ****ing realize that before EA, it was MICROSOFT who was publishing Bioware's games? ****ING MICROSOFT!! It's not like they walked out on Interplay and went straight to EA, there were much darker times there in between. I have enough attractive female friends that I don't need to imagine. Allegedly. I'm an economics major. We have some really sexy women majoring in this field if study. People studying economy and law unironically instead of engineering or medicine, step it up senpai.
