Hardly. This is the coldest August/September Iowa has ever had. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I live in South Georgia, and we've been having 50 degree nights here for the last week or two. Unusual in the extreme. -
Eberron does a good job of making gnomes scary (for example, the gnomes of Zilargo have a secret agency that "removes" problematic individuals). You should read City of Tower by Keith Baker (creator of Eberron); the gnome in that book is downright frightening.

Hmm, is someone worried about poisoning of his precious bodily fluids? Bizarre.

Has there ever been a "non-traditional" RPG released for Nintendo systems? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Eye of the Beholder was on the SNES. Played it quite a bit. And let's not forget Shadowrun, again for the SNES. Ultima I and IV were released for the NES, as were a couple other first-person RPGs for the NES. -

Seriously, is there a link to a reputable article which states that it won't be a feature in the Wii, or has one been posted and I just missed it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well there is this. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks. Has anymore been said? -

Not to be difficult, but where is the news that the Wii won't support DVD playback coming from? From this article, we're told Seriously, is there a link to a reputable article which states that it won't be a feature in the Wii, or has one been posted and I just missed it? -

How is it anymore expensive than with a PS3 or 360? Don't both of those come with only one controller, with extra controllers priced at $50? -

<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have to agree, whose house doesn't have a dvd player? they are as common as televisions. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Seriously. Six years ago, when the PS2 was released, it was a big deal to have a DVD player in the PS2. Now? Heck, my grandparents have a DVD player. -

Really? They suck for launching 2 days after the PS3, which will only have on average 8 consoles per US store (at latest count)? So, all those people planning on spending $600 to get a PS3 and who go down to the store only to learn that, first, the PS3 won't realistically be available for purchase until right before Christmans, and, second, there's an alternative that costs only $250, comes with a game, and has 20 games available for purchase won't decide to go with the better deal? -
...but here's some neat extras for those of you who've preordered NWN2.

I guess you've forgotten the START agreements, eh?

Definitely. Had a cool costume, too.

The John Byrne version is a lot more limited than the Golden/Silver Age version. Byrne's Superman (which has been the standard since '86, though DC may be taking him back to his Silver Age power levels now) can't fly in space without air, can't move planets, doesn't have a Super Brain (though they brought back Super Memory this month, grrr), and actually died back in '92 or '93. I much prefer Byrne's version (and, I'll admit it, I liked Superman Blue, too; Superman Blue was when Superman's powers were altered and he became an energy-based being). Unfortunately, as the Brando/Reeve/Hackman Superman was before the Byrne rewrite, and Superman Returns continues the story after Superman II, we'll likely see that god-like Kal-El (or, more properly, Kal-L, the Earth-Two and Golden/Silver Age Superman) in SMR.

I don't know who will win the console war, but I do know who has won me: Nintendo. I haven't purchased a Nintendo console in sixteen years, but the design principles and revolutionary gameplay of the Wii (coupled, of course, with the state of the next-gen consoles) have won me over. My wife and I are both ecstatic about the Wii, and plan on playing it with our daughters (only one of which is capable of playing at this time). Kudos to Nintendo.

Sony to make reselling of PS3 games illegal
deganawida replied to Arkan's topic in Computer and Console
Then the EULA is not enforceable to the customer. Did I sign anything? Did I click "Yes" to an EULA popup? No? Then it is not enforceable according to US law. -
Sony to make reselling of PS3 games illegal
deganawida replied to Arkan's topic in Computer and Console
You dont buy a game, you purchase a LICENSE from the rights holder to use that game in the manner and conditions stated by the license agreement. The used games market is making tons of money from products someone else made and owns the rights to, without compensating them in any way. Is it strange that the publishers are displeased? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No. At this point in time, if I buy a console title, I purchase a copy of the game itself. There is no EULA, no enforceable license; I own that copy of the game. Try to keep up, won't you? This discussion began with Sony's rumored PS3 license BS. -

So, do we now count all those people out there who don't even own a game in the same category as pirates? The developers and the publishers got their money from the initial purchase; the initial purchaser is then free to resell the product as he sees fit, and that does not affect the publisher or developer in any way. After all, there is a finite number of any preowned games in existence, and demand for those games often outstrips the number of preowned copies. How is that any different than buying a used car? Answer: It's not. Some of you may be content to give away the rights to property you own and purchased with your precious time, but I will never quietly allow corporations to manipulate the legal system in order to deprive me of items purchased by me. -
Hey, whatever happened to Cross-Gen? I heard they went under.

Well, I'm at a bit of an impasse. For the last 8 years, I've only been a sporadic comic book reader (not really by choice, but it's been a busy 8 years). My wife has convinced me to start collecting again, but I have to confess that I have no idea where to start. Marvel: I like Ultimate X-Men and The Ultimates. I don't like any regular continuity stuff, and haven't since Onslaught. I also really hate how Marvel destroyed the Ultraverse, as that was a great superhero 'verse. DC: Well, you can make a safe bet as to my favorite comic book character from my avatar. I used to get Bats, Supes, GL, JLA, Flash, Impulse, JSA, Sandman, Captain Marvel, Nightwing, Aztec, etc. However, what I've read about Infinite Crisis and the state of the DCU currently is disappointing to me. It looks as though the DCU has become significantly darker, and I don't want that. The late nineties were already dark (remember Montevideo?), and while dark stories are fine for Batman, the whole world doesn't need to be dark. Independent: Well, I liked Thieves and Kings, Astro City, and Strangers in Paradise, as well as the Cross-Gen comics, but I really don't know if they're still being published, or if I can hop into them having missed 8 years of stories (SIP especially). Anyway, anyone have any recommendations, or advice? My main fear is that DC, in its attempt to bring back the Silver Age, has irretrievably made the DCU darker than it needs to be, and has mangled the continuity beyond repair.

I think on certain occasions, like rituals and such, it is true. Please note that my comment was in no way deragatory(sp), I heard this was true for certain forms of Judaism and I am merely asking a question because I am curious. :"> <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If I recall the Levitical code correctly (and I may be off; it's been a few years since I last went through Leviticus), it's only when a woman is menstruating that a woman is deemed unclean.
