  1. I've seen some people asking the question whether or not Obsidian will be present at Gamescom this year. But I was wondering if it has been answered anywhere, (didn't find the answer though). It's scheduled to be from August 22nd to August 26th so, pretty soon ! Obsidian's Panels have always been very interesting in the past, (when Streaming problems doesn't occur...). Having them talk about Deadfire for an hour or so, is something I'm really looking for... & the 20-30min of Q&A with the audience. Hopes & Dreams
  2. Sure, Because of the setting being more tropical this time around : It's been said that there will be some Reggae tunes, a PNJ named "MC Selectah" will diffuse neat Riddims, where Edèr can actually drop some Impro Lyrics onto. All of this will happen dynamicaly while venturing around Neketaka, depending on what Riddim is played. Update 40 will feature this new cool system, I personaly can't wait for Aloth's "Rap God Contest" in The Gullet.
  3. I would assume the 4 on top of the star is the number of Empowers the characters have left, and the blue/purple numbers are the number of casts per encounter. Yep, the "4" definitely is the number of Empowered left (seen in action in Update 36). Not a bad guess on Blue & Purple numbers though, still wonder. ^^ EDIT : So yeah, watched Update 36 again, and it's definitely the number of Spells you can cast. You can see it in action around 3:54 & 6:15. Even if Aloth has 4 Spells stored, once that number reaches "0", he can't cast other Spells in that category. Here it is if you wanna check it :
  4. Arkemyr's named spells in Pillars 1 (Dazzling Lights, Wondrous Torment, Capricious Hex) were debuffs, largely affecting the target's mental state. (You may be thinking of Kalakoth's Minor Blights.) I could see Arkemyr being the trickster archmage, with his (her?) manor filled with the kind of traps intended more to confuse, bewilder, and frustrate potential thieves than to kill them. Yeah, I figured it out yesterday ! Sadly it wasn't the Archmage I was talking about But eh, if Kalakoth isn't in Deadfire, there is still hope that maybe he'll be featured in "Deadfire - The Black Isle" Expansion ! Ahah EDIT : On a minor side note, I love the small details you gave to Spells Hotbar. Xoti / Priest : Aloth / Wizard : Druids will probably be Green, & Ciphers... I don't know, Black ? Something is bogging me by the way, it seems that the Purple / Blue Numbers aren't related to the Number of Spells available under each Lvl. Maybe it touches on the number of Spells affected by the "Empowered Mechanic"... or something completely different. It's weird that Priests & Wizards would have the same number of Spells. Grimoire's Slots, if not changed, could store 4 Spells, but Priests have no Grimoire and learn all their Spells at once. And are "Memory Stored"... We know they've rework Priests Spells but, well... Inquiring minds wanna know.
  5. Yeah ! BTW, by "Early Access" I meant the Backer Beta. Adding more hype with today's insane Neketaka Update, makes me boil up even more now. Pfff, just thinking of the fun you guys must have play-testing the Game internaly ... You lucky (Black Isle) Bastards !
  6. Arkemyr's Manor looks awesome, I hope the associated quest will be great like Raedric's hold was. I mentioned it in some Spells related Thread, but I hope we'll find some Unique Arkemyr's Spells, in the Library or his Grimoire (pretty sure we wiil get his Grimoire tho). If I remember correctly, Arkemyr's Spells are kind of "Missiles" related (similar to Minoletta), I think it's the Spell that turns Wizards hands into Dual Magic Missile thrower. I LOVE that kind of Spells ! Also, I wish there will be some awesome X's Spells (Lvl 20) from Minoletta, Arkemyr, Concelhaut & Llengrath. Can't wait to see these
  7. WOAW ! Man, seriously the game looks even more awesome than what we've ever seen or expected so far... The wind effect on palmiers is breathtaking, it's beautiful. Really stoked by the Graphics in General, damn. And you took seriously into account the feedback I gave back in the day, and I'm sure many others did, to make more quests like Raedric's. I think we've all agree back in Pillars I, that this quest was THE Masterpiece Quest in the game. & BAM, an Archmage related Quest, inspired & similar to Raedric's Hold !! Couldn't be happier. Awesome Update, it looks f**king gorgeous ! Godsidian is back again.
  8. Lol, this thread goes full non-sense. It's 5 for now, will probably end up being 5. That's it, until Bêta Feedbacks. Y'all should deal with it...
  9. Well, here is my take on this subject, At the beginning , because one of the main complain on Pillars Of Eternity was : "Combat Readability". They chose to reduce that "party members cap" from 6 to 5, to solve that problem. But, after a while, and I think "very recently", Devs came up with that "VFX Opacity" Feature... which, pretty much solves Combat Readability issue on its own, I think they kinda "didn't see that coming". Moreover, now that the Game is fully scheduled down : (Scale wise, Character wise, Monster wise, XP/Level wise, etc...) I don't wanna say it's to late to change things back but you know what I mean. It probably is... I'd rather want 6 aswell, I enjoyed Tyranny's 4 a lot, & I'm ok with 5 ! Let's just see how it feels when the Backer Bêta comes out.
  10. Josh said that he hopes (no promises as he says), he hope they can implement a sort of Battle Royal System for the Beta : Where people can pick, whatever Combo/Classes/Party they want, and as you say, go crazy with it & break the game. So, there's a chance we'll be able to do this, so the devs can make great usage of that kind of feedback.
  11. Yep, Justin talks about pretty much all of your concerns. Nonetheless, there was already 5 Combat Themes in the 1st Pillars, I don't know if he's going to do much more. You can find them here (Combat A/B/C/D/E) : https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL0w2QA7IXPn7g2Bu3IQ2vt2MTLfJbGEpg One thing I wanna touch on, is that they didn't use an extended version of this Theme, even against big bosses or epic battles : You know, that part between 0:27 & 1:20 First, the whole instrumental part is awesome, but moreover, the addition of a Choir makes it sound so F**cking Epic ! Another exemple we all remember since the 90s (for some of us ), is "One Winged Angel" from FFVII. That theme was musically genius, but the Choir made it so epic & so memorable. (Aside to Battle Themes : Mention to "Liberi Fatali" from FFVIII Intro) Anyway, the OST of Pillars Of Eternity was great, no doubt about that, and I have to say it but.... Main Theme is the BEST : When Pillars Of Eternity came out, I remember staring at the Login Screen for 20min before playing & listen to this Beautiful Piece Of Music repeat itself. Good Times, Hope for the Best in Deadfire.
  12. Some of you maybe didn't saw this, I personaly just found out about this video a few days ago. It's a great, almost 2hrs video, of Justin touching on his approach on Music & Sound Design. There are quite a lot of informations regarding his work for Pillars Of Eternity II : Deadfire. In case you're a Music Lover, in general & loved the Music from the 1st Game, this is for you. Hope you enjoy :
  13. IIRC, Josh confirmed (at that time) in the Q&A Session that : Fighter/Wizard = Battlemage Rogue/Wizard = Spellblade Remember that everything regarding Character Titles are subject to change until release. Plus, they were investigating the possibility to allow the Players to "rename" their Title if they don't like it, because all of this is subjective, it's a matter of personal tastes.
  14. Today's update, Tomorrow's Stream. Sounds like a cool week to me ! Can't wait for this Stream though, (4am but I'll be there ! As always), another sh*t tons of infos to catch, watch & re-watch.
  15. Thank you everyone for your research ! Best community for sure. In your tweeter links, someone posted a comment with the full sized picture, so here it is : Thank you again.
  16. Hmm, if that's a Fan Art piece, I'd totally understand if they can't share it... will make me sad though . Thank you for the info, if that's the case, I'll investigate the internet infiniteness and look out for it. I tried to search Kaz Aruga's Twitter to ask him the question, but it seems that he doesn't have an account (or couldn't find it yet). Aarik was my best bet, for a community request, it was simpler to ask him .
  17. Hi ! I was wondering if I may ask for a favor... So I'll just throw it and see how it goes. Is it possible for you to get in touch with Kaz, to ask him if it's possible for him, to have this White/Blue Art above your head, implemented as a portrait ? Haven't got the chance to see it entirely yet ( )... but it seems to look absolutely gorgeous ! Or even quicker : Maybe posting an average High-Res picture of it ? So we can make a portrait of it by ourselves ? In fact, I'd like Kaz to implement it, because it would require a "water-colored" version of it aswell, to fit Scripted Interactions & Dialogues stuff though... Anyway, if you have the time & the possibility, a simple Image would make me really glad & eternally grateful ! Maybe others would like it aswell !
  18. @Josh : How did I not think about this before ! THE WATCHER : It was kinda like a Class in itself, but His/Her Spells were not really spectacular or didn't felt really unique (they were unique, but visually, not so much). I Can't remember using these Spells really often, as I couldn't think of them as particularily relevent/cool/usefull in my many playthroughs. Have you think about it ? Will the Watcher be as awesome as the PC from Baldur's Gate who could transform in a "Giant Berserk Demon Beast" form ? THAT, was Spectacular ! EDIT : Just to clarify, I don't want my watcher to transform in a Giant **** that stuns everyone in a 4m radius, but the question is : Have you iterated about unique spells the watcher could have ? How to make them feel great & unique ? Thank you.
  19. Volcanic Biomes have been mentioned many times in the past, so that's one more I can inform you about, at least. (Look for Fulvano's Voyage, lots of Volcanos) Other than that there's "The Beyond", this "out there" place, up in the sky, techy-ruins like. Also, just speculating but... An Aquatic Biome could be a thing. An underwater city of Nagas (a Race actually present in the game) is another possibility of a new fresh biome.
  20. Personally, I'd back an additionnal FIG Side-Campaign for Deadfire, if the Stretch Goals are only based on adding levels to a New Mega-Dungeon like the previous game lol. fifteen Levels are not enough, I want MOAR !
  21. I keep watching & re-watching these Q&A sessions, they're full of informations. Can't remember answers sometimes, even to my own questions lol (51:15 in that case ) Can't wait for July 12th, and I'm gonna make a big bet about this 6th Q&A Session but : Release Date is set to be Q1 2018, they'll go full Post-Production in August, [Andy's podcast with Kotaku (49:15) : https://megaphone.link/PPY7839856568 (36:55 if you want the full talk)]. So, my guess is that I wouldn't be surprised if they'd announce the Backer Beta this time around, maybe not in this Session but it seems to be pretty close ! We'll see
