Tonight's episode was pretty good. I'm very curious about why the Asian guy

Really? From what I understand the characters were hated but doesn't

Oh no! Mkreku is a dead man! Dead man walking!

Well, one of the things that has shocked me about Lost is that I can't think of one 'bad' episode in the shows run. Each has been entertaining in it's own way with some new revelation or shock. Lost has jumped around a bit in episodes per season, but the first season was the highest amount of episodes. The show is loaded with likable characters, many of whom are initially the kind you want to hate, but grow to like after more and more backstory is released. I'm interested to see where Flash Forward will go, and I like the idea of shorter seasons. MANY shows really do struggle with the 24+ episodes a season.

Best excuse ever!

Maybe I was napping during history class but I don't remember the Iroquois being the culture that new immigrants were melting into. Like I said the first time, this is a 'Americans took the land from Native Americans, sit back and let it be taken by illegals' jab. Yeah, had a brain fart after Hurl used trod. Thought it sounded odd, but rushed on. Difference is I'm not rushing across a border harming another country's economy, getting drunk and crashing into pedestrians and so on and so forth. If I did I would have the decency to learn the local language so I could communicate at a base level. Which I seemed to do with you as I got a lame comeback about native Americans and my poor grammar.

Unfortunately I wasn't joking. I just couldn't get past that eye scene and didn't bother skipping the file ahead. I'm neutral about the show, but all the claims about how damn slow it is and how the story is made up as they go don't make me terribly excited to bite the bullet. I think I'll give Flash Forward ago instead. ... you realize Lost has one of the most intense openings of any show on television... right after the eye scene...

Of the three I have to say Lost is my favorite. Its just fun to follow the story lines and spot little clues. It doesn't hurt that Lost also has the best setting.

Game is now officially delayed
GreasyDogMeat replied to kreese12's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Then we've got a 'what the heck is goin' on man?' situation. I just hope its not a stupid reason. I don't really know why, for instance, they would delay AP for fear of competition from other games. The only real RPG competition I see for AP is Dragon Age and I'm far more interested in AP. Until they come out and say something its nothing but a guessing game. 10 bucks they want to add 100 new women to bed! -
No, its not a solid argument. Like I said, should we just ignore the current laws because they used to be different? As for changing laws, you do that by, as your example, protests, voting etc. not by breaking the law until it becomes meaningless. In this case, breaking the law is breaking the bank and lives of Americans.

"Speak an Iroquoi language, do you? Did your ancestors? Did they ask permission to settle? Thought not. Ah, the old 'everyone stole the land from the Native Americans so you should let everyone ignore the laws of the land now no matter how much it hurts the country' argument. Who cares, we all just stole the land! Real solid argument. "What it does is make your immigration policies a case of absolutely astonishing hypocrisy." Riiiight, so changing the immigration policies as time changes and the population # change = hypocrisy. Yeah, wanting a higher standard as time goes on is a terrible thing. "Well, no. But then that doesn't make any sense at all. You were saying about not learning the language...?" One of the requirements to becoming a US citizien is "The ability to read, write and speak ordinary English unless they are physically unable to do so due to a disability such as being blind or deaf, or suffer from a developmental disability or mental impairment". Again, how is that trodding on another's culture? Part of what makes a country work and run is the ability to communicate. I don't remember saying they need to give up their heathen traditions, culture or language.

The market continues on with or without the presence of illegal aliens. This is why it very much seems like the illegal aliens are used as an excuse. Their presence has existed pretty much forever, but at this moment things are bad, so lets blame them, not things like government mismanagement and poor laws that restrict businesses and cause them to move to other states. I agree, especially about business restrictions, but I still think illegal aliens are a major problem. Just one of many problems with California right now.

You are right Enoch... I'm just being lazy. I stumbled on this just a moment ago and I wasn't even looking for illegal alien info. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/33192344/ns/us...news/?gt1=43001 10.5 billion costs per year for California. http://usgovinfo.about.com/od/immigrationn.../caillegals.htm # of American citizins killed each day by drunk illegals (actually got the info from another site which said 13 a day, but forgot which site.) http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=53103 (Sarcasm, humor, and disgust all wrapped up in one) Oh and if I haven't convinced you that illegal aliens are evil filthy scum... I give you... http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=50744

The problem is far bigger than California alone. While I wouldn't put California's current crisis to illegal's alone, they certainly didn't help. I've heard of a case in Florida where an illegal was given a 1.5 million dollar surgery and people were more upset he was deported after the surgery.

This is exactly why Sega/Obsidian should have made the delay clear. I also hope those with preorders were called up and told about the delay. Just bad form to wait till the day of release to make the delay official, even if everyone 'knows' it will be delayed.
-
No, we ARE talking about illegal immigrants. Some of them may be trying to build better lives but it is at the expense of actual citizens who have to pay their medical bills, lose jobs because of them, even get killed by them (probably an exageration, but have read 13 people die a day from a drunk illegal driver). Simpathy for their plight does not mean we should run our country into the ground for them.
-
Standards have changed, but I don't see how that is a free pass for illegal aliens. A big problem is a large majority of illegal aliens have no intent of bettering themselves and one day meeting the requirements for citizenship. From what I've read, around 10 billion from tax payers goes into illegal aliens every year (in california alone). That is... ridiculous. Also, I have to make this crystal clear: NO ONE IS TRODING ON ANY CULTURE. That's nothing more than a straw man. Like saying anyone against Obama plans are against them because he's black.

Game is now officially delayed
GreasyDogMeat replied to kreese12's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Obsidian sure doesn't have much luck with publishers. Then again, the delay could be a good thing. I'd rather have a delayed highly polished game than an early release with problems (KotOR 2). If the delay is due to developing a new DRM system (NwN 2: MoW) though, I'll burst a capillary. -
I guess that Polanski thread got to me...

I really wish they had added some more diverse environments. I was pretty excited to finally go to the colony in Dead Space only to end up going into a transfer tunnel that looked just like the rest of the ship I had spent nine hours exploring. Its a problem with a lot of sci fi horror games. Try something that, while it might be a bit cliche, will be more interesting to explore. A huanted forest, a speeding train... something. The spooky metal ship is great... but it just gets a bit old. Despite this, I had a great time with Dead Space. The game is extremely tense and intense and points.

While I think Killian is a bit overzealous with the "I AM THE LAW" bit, this is a very poor counter argument if you are somehow defending illegal aliens. What happens if too many people pirate from a certain company? No more company. What happens if too many illegal aliens choke the system... I'm not defending illegal aliens in this comment(even though I have written one that did, but decided not to post it), I was really commenting "The Law is the Law and no one is above the Law." nonsense. Ah... well, no argument from me.

Pretty sure my ancestors didn't sneak across the border illegally, refuse to learn the language and become burdens to the country. That is an insult to any family, hispanic or otherwise that came here legally to make something of themseves. That is kind of like saying don't blame a rapist for breaking into a girls bedroom when her parents weren't home. The opportunity presented itself. Also, since when did illegal immigrants become a race to be bigoted against? That's also like saying don't speak ill of murderers... its bigotry.

So, Is this game delayed or not?
GreasyDogMeat replied to TheWatcher's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Don't like having money sitting around for a game more than two months in advance personally. I'll be transfering my preorder to Brutal Legend. Once a more concrete date is set I'll preorder again. No big deal. For others, though, it probably is something along the lines of 'rage quiting'. -

Agreed. American McGee's Alice wasn't exactly true to the source material but it was still a fun game and Dante's Inferno has plenty of potential.
