  1. There is only one flaw to your plan, what possible need do the French have for soap?
  2. Yep, in the midst of a shooting war precipitated by an unprovoked attack that was followed by invasions of US soil, invasions and subjegation of allies, and attacks on US interests all over the world. Just in case you happened to forget that little nugget. And you had better beleive I believe it. I pray I am wrong, but I don't think I will be. It dosen't matter anyway. If it's going to happen it's going to happen. No one will stop it. The current regime in Iran has an apoclyptic bent and they probably believe giving a weapon to terrorists will insulate them from reprisals. I have real doubts that if they did do it the the world would get on board for military action anyway. I don't mean to take this thread OT so respond if you like but I'm dropping it here.
  3. I'm going to blow your mind: Everything that Obama's doing, he isn't doing out of cowardice or a desire to be liked. He is doing it because he wants to. Every choice he has made has been his choice, made not on bland squeamishness but instead on lack of character. This is the first thing you have ever posted that actually makes sense. And I understand I missed out on a pretty insulting post from you. Too bad. Personal attacks are always fun and usually come from someone who has nothing intelligent to say. And you were correct having not served in the military does not mean you cannot form an opinion on the military. However, it does mean your opinion is a little uninformed.
  4. On what MC said, I read an article yesterday that made the case the award should have beedn conferred on a nuclear weapon because they have done more to keep peace than any one man. But Russias promise not to veto or their at best tepid support for sanctions carried little worth. China will still veto and there is nothing to buy them off with. Besides, if the Middle East explodes in war, Russia becomes the richest and most influential country in the world becaue it will have the most oil and the means to deliver it. Once Iran has a nuclear weapon is there any doubt in anyones mind they will give one to Hamas, Al Qaida, some one of that ilk? The day they have one more weapon than India, Pakistan or Israel, is the day a weapon detonates in Tel Aviv or Washington DC, or New York, or London, or somewhere. It's a good as done because no one is willing to stop it.
  5. At a quick glance if Miami wins tonight I win for the week with 4 wrong and everyone else ties at six. If the Jets win we all tie at five.
  6. This is the right answer.
  7. Cleveland at Buffalo: Browns will not lose them all, but they will lose this one. Bills Dallas at Kansas City: Dallas = Paper tiger. Chiefs. Minnesota at St. Louis: Rams have no shot. Vikings Oakland at NY Giants: Giants win easy. Giants Tampa Bay at Philadelphia: Go Bucs!!! Eagles. Pittsburgh at Detroit: Possible bear trap but Pitsburgh wins a close one. Steelers Washington at Carolina: Just going with the home team. Panthers Cincinnati at Baltimore: Game of the week! Ravens Atlanta at SF 49ers: Falcons win a close one. Falcons Jacksonville at Seattle: Neither team is any good. Seahawks. Houston at Arizona: Not sure what to make of either of these teams. Cardinals New England at Denver: Broncos win at home. Broncos. Indianapolis at Tennessee: Looking at a big upset here. Titans. NY Jets at Miami: Dolphins found a spark, but can they keep it? Dolphins.
  8. I set up a video camera on my back porch. Tonight I'm grilling, tomorow I'm posting coyote videos on youtube.
  9. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206...id=ahpLpu9sKLyY A little nod to Di, Alanschu, Numbers, and of course to me and a few others for nailing the problem. I would not buy California bonds right now even if they accepted payment in dried dog poop.
  10. I hear he's also in line for the Nobel Prize in economics for solving our unemployment and deficit spending problems and solving the housing crisis. Oh wait, he has only made those worse too. What the hell, give it to him anyway. By the way, when can I expect my Pulitzer for the book I haven't finished writing yet?
  11. No. He won't. A US President is a United States President. Same as it ever was. We've come too far to have a president be a dove now. Fun Fact #2: Gandhi wasn't good enough.Ghandi believed blacks were inferior to Indians and believed in an India where Indians and whites would walk all over them. Oh God, here it comes....
  12. It's not about freedom, it's about decorum. A school is an institution designed to achieve a purpose. If a boy dressed as a girl is a distraction to people that is a flaw in ourselves as human beings. But for a school to function it must mitigate distractions and if they deem that to do that they must inconvience this one kid, then that is how it is. He does have other options and he can dress how he pleases after school of during after school functions like dances, football games, whatever. The same could be said of any business enviorment. It's their sandbox. You want to play in it you live by their rules. If thats unacceptable. go to school/work elsewhere. I have made the same argument against gays in the military. It is not as if gays made inferior soldiers, there is no evidence they do. There are certainly gays serving right now. It's that open homosexuality is damaging to morale. The fact that it is true again shows that we are flawed creatures because it should not be something anyone thinks about. But because it is a problem it must be avoided because the whole of the military must not be damaged to accomedate a few individuals. Not to change the subject, I was just trying to make a point.
  13. This is just plain wrong: http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/10/09/florida.b...suit/index.html Another PR black eye for baseball.
  14. California is am excellent example of irresponsible government run amok. Too bad this thread got sidetracked because it would have made for interesting discussion. Illegal immigration is a problem, no one can dispute that. But it is not the root cause of California's issues. The root cause is out of control spending coupled with abuse of the tax payers. And that cannot be blamed on the bad US eceonomy as a whole because even this article points out that the exodus of people began back in 2004 when the economy was fine. The US is still a free country (for a little while longer at least). If your home state has punitive taxation and regulation you can move to a different state and escape it. If state malfeasence is damaging you business, you are free to fire all of your employees, move the business to a different state and start over there. And that new state would probably love to have you. In the US state government policy does not happen in a vaccum. This is why Marx said for socialism to work in must be inescapable.
  15. Thats true, not like this "award" has any credibility to begin with. Still, if he had even a shred of integrity he would decline it. But his rampant narcissisim will not allow him to do that.
  16. Well, we all know now I'm better at handicapping football games than baseball games!
  17. I think you posted this in the wrong thread Fio.
  18. Unbelievable. How ironic is it that he wins this "award" (hard to call it that because he hasn't done a thing to promote peace anywhere) on the eve or ordering more troops to Afghanistan. Whatever credibility this "award" has is gone.
  19. I lost interest in this thread when it became the illegal immigration thread. But this is too funny not to post. It came to me via email some time ago. I make no claims as to the accuracy of the numbers or anything else and I am posting it for humor and discussion purposes only!
  20. http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/...team-is?cnn=yes Looks like the Cowboys are still "Americas" team. I can't believe the Eagles finished #3. Ugh. I'd put them at next to last, just above the Raiders.
  21. besed on your posts I'd bet you are a really mild tempered nice guy who never gets too mad or too happy. But you gotta be careful, those are the kind of people who snap one day and walk into a crowded train station with a loaded assault rifle and go nuts.
  22. There is no bigger advocate on this board for individual liberty than me, but the school is right here. A certain level of decorum is required in the workplace/school and it is certainly incumbent on the party responsible to ensure that it exists. If that means uniforms or dess codes then thats what it means. Once you get out of that enviorment you can dress however you please. If you find that unreasonable there are usually alternatives up to and including dropping out.
  23. This thread had great potential but it kinda fell down into one of the old thread sinkholes that pops up around here and everyone takes the usual, predictable, and God knows tired old positions. Ho hum. In fact reading some of the posts here I get the strangest feelings of deja vu. I could swear we've all said the exact same things before.... and after a quick forum search...we all have! I think I'll go pour a drink and wait for the Coyotes to show up.
  24. I saw flashes of goodness (not greatness) in Josh Johnson in the Bucs game this week. I'd rather have seen Josh Freeman though. As for Farve, I don't know what he's on but he can still play. I am curious to see the reaction he'll get in Green Bay but to tell the truth I'd be very surprised if it was not positive.
