  1. I seriously doubt he had any input into the internal operations of the air force academy. However, I know there is no way the spying happened without his knowledge. He is briefed everyday and told of the sources of information. There is just, no way he was unaware. Just like the health care debacle. Millions of people are losing their insurance and not only did he know all the way back in 2010, it was by design. But he keeps having Jay Carney plead ignorance. Same thing with the website. They were briefed well ahead what was going to happen.
  2. Thanks guys. I'm not terribly worried about it. I've made some inquiries at the company I worked for before this. i think they would be favorable to having me back if there is an opening. One important rule about the workplace. No matter how miserable a place is to work, don't complain to management (exception in the case of discrimination & illegality) and don't air out your grievances when you leave. Shake everyone's hand, tell them how much you'll miss them and how great it was to work with them. Even if it's a lie. Hell, especially if it's a lie. Clearing the air will rectify nothing and just leave a bad memory of you. But Crown Castle wasn't like that. I only left to work for myself.
  3. Yes, it's a thing. And it looks like I'm going to be hosting my lesbian friend and her gf for sunday at least. Simply because they don't want to be around my friends ex I just can't help but see endless possibilities for how that situation might turn out Calax. If you could make something happen there you will have officially knocked Ros off his throne as the party king of this forum!
  4. All my partners voted to accept the buyout. I did too but I don't know how I feel about it. This is my third attempt to start a business and the first time I didn't go it alone. Its the only one i'd call successful in that I'm walking away with more than I started with and made a living off of it while I had it. But I wanted more than this. I wanted to build it into something. But the cold realities are he had no assets other than customers and therefore no means to expand. And the bulk of our customers were municipalities and they only came to us because we were the cheapest because we underpriced our labor. It was not a sustainable model I guess. So I've got a year of so of consulting work in front of me, then I'll be looking for work. But I can't complain. Being out of work with money in the bank is better than being broke. So I guess I'll pour a drink and toast what might have been... and then watch Hell on Wheels or something.
  5. With two games to go, both in Boston, I wouldn't call it a lock but it's the next best thing to it.
  6. Today I am drinking a fine 9 year old Kentucky bourbon. Three fingers in a highball with ice. I just poured my third glass
  7. The Patriot Act is what has damaged this country. I blame him for not appealing it, but it existed before he got in office. The guy couldn't even get an assault weapons ban to go through after Sandy Hook, he's no mastermind of political power. The only other thing he even has going on is the health care system, and that is totally overblown as an issue. I also am not going after Bush about the Patriot Act. It was a response to a terrible incident. It just shouldn't be a permanent measure. Do you know why we (speaking for all gun owners here) will not tolerate a "reasonable" gun control bill to pass? Because there ultimate goal is to take every gun away from us. That is why we will fight every single one tooth and nail no matter how "reasonable" it sounds. As for the Patriot Act, every member of Congress who voted for that should have been dragged out of the Capitol and the end of a rope. The day that passed is one of the darker days in our history. More so for the way it is being used against us today.
  8. No Wals, he is not motivated to achieve public good He is motivated to advance an ideological agenda. If we have ever had a president who actually gave a damn about the public good I sure couldn't name him. What Obama wants is to create a permanent underclass that can be made dependent on government handouts and can then be exploited for political purposes and ensure electoral victories for the left. Case in point, his next "big thing" will be immigration reform. Or in other words amnesty and citizenship for illegals. If I were congress, and I offered him a bill for signature that gave him amnesty and instant citizenship for every illegal immigrant in the country with the only caveat that they would not be permitted to vote, do you think he'd sign it? No, he would not because he doesn't give a f--k about them except how they can be used for electora; proposes. Not only has he not cancelled the surveillance programs he's using them to spy on his own people n now. He's spying on reporters, raiding their homes, seizing their notes. He has the IRS persecuting his political enemies, especially the Tea Party. He has practically turned them into his own secret police and to date, despite being caught red handed at it, there has not been a single firing or resignation. He's been caught spying on the leaders of Brazil & Germany and his administrations response has been the height of arrogance. And that is not even getting into the domestic "data mining" that is going on right here at home. Instead of Big Brother we have Barack Obama watching us. His DHS puts out a memo stating them me and people like me, veterans and patriots, were likely terrorists deserving of special scrutiny by the police. Meanwhile he refuses to call actual terrorists what they are. He sat on his ass and watched an embassy get sacked and ambassador and his security staff get murdered by people he won't call terrorists and then blames, arrests and imprisons an American citizen who had nothing at all to do with it. Then he stonewalls the investigations and threatens everyone who knew anything about testifying. He wants to negotiate with Iran and refuses to negotiate with his own countrymen when it came to the budget. He has certainly made enemies, and most of them are right here. And I can happily count myself among them. I would not piss on that despicable man if he were on fire. Everything I've listed is true and while he may not be the one responsible for doing it all, it was all done in his name and 95% of it with his personal approval.
  9. I started up a new game of Skyrim today. Then something unusual happened. As I was running to the keep in Helgen, Alduin landed right in front of me and killed me. Usually I have to spend 100 or so hours before that happens.
  10. Just as bad. As for him being a symbol, screw that. He's a lousy president who has damaged his country in ways that few of his predecessors can match. The fact that he's black or that he's the first should not in any way taint what his real legacy would be. When people at the VFW, men who have taken up arms in defense of this nation are openly talking about state secession you know things are going poorly. I do not know how history will remember Obama, but if the country does fracture at some point I think it will be said he presided over a big step in that direction.
  11. Hurlie, I think it is far, far worse than you are willing to admit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJFC1qFCgyA
  12. I caught the biggest speck I've ever seen yesterday. It was 22 inches and weighed a little over six pounds. For those who use a real measurement system (metric) you can do the conversions yourself if you're really curious. He went in the pan last night with scallions & mushrooms and some homemade corn bread. Good stuff!
  13. Poor Bill Buckner, he's in the news again now that a second WS game ended in an error. In other news there are rumors of the Rays moving to Montreal is they will build them a stadium. Seems unlikely to me. The ran off the Expos with extreme prejudice. Last but not least the Rays sent two middle of the road prospects and a bag of cash to the White Sox for Jesse Crain. What a bust that was. That guy never pitched an inning. Talk about buying a lemon.
  14. The only reason I've never been awarded a Nobel Prize is because they don't have one for fishing, or whiskey drinking, or any of the other things I'm good at, Which I think is a shame!
  15. Sorry. wrong topic!
  16. See, Obama isn't incompetent, he's just can't be arsed to worry about the trivial problems of mere mortals. http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/362203/obamas-valerie-jarrett-often-whispered-about-never-challenged-john-fund Is it just me or is her gushing praise of him just a little too much like something the North Koeans say about the three Kims?
  17. It is a beautiful, slightly cold day. The dog & I are going fishing!
  18. What... this again?
  19. Ah he's way too young to worry about that. Besides, who wants to die of nothing! I'm more worried he'll wake up next to an ugly girl. Or worse one will come to visit with a baby that looks all to familiar!
  20. Good thing you're challenging Wals and not one of the Americans. We kill people with lawnmowers here. My weapon of choice is a John Deere 42"
  21. Why must those two activities be mutually exclusive?
  22. Today I started a new thread about something funny. Other than that I'm not doing much.
  23. This is just great! Lawnmowers! USA, USA, USA They actually researched this: http://thedoghousediaries.com/maplesyrup
  24. Last night did not go as planned. Not to say it went badly though. Lady Guard dog is moving in for real and we were up until 3 am unpacking boxes and rearranging stuff. I have a four bedroom house and she had a one bedroom apartment, yet somehow she has twice as much stuff as I do. Rather than go out to dinner we just made microwave pizza and watched Saturday Night Live. I found out something about her I didn't know though. She reads her horoscope regularly and actually believes it offers some insight in day to day life. I found that funny. She told me the one thing in life she has always wanted was a horse. She doesn't even want to learn to ride one, she just wanted to have one as a pet. I think I can make that happen.
  25. bad advice imo, tracking your partner sends the wrong message: "I don't trust you enough when you're not around me."Maybe she needed a night out with the girls. Yeah I have to agree with you on this. I can certainly understand you being concerned with her safety Hurlie. As long as that is all it is. But tracking via GPS/Cell phones.... bad idea. Sooner or later that comes out and it would not be a pleasant conversation.
