That can gets a coolness rating of 9.9!

Wow, The Tigers finally found their bats. But with Lester facing Sanchez tonight the pitching edge goes to the Sox. I think the series will decided tonight. If the Sox win and go back to Boston only needing one win in two games they will get it. If Detroit wins I think they will find a way to win in Boston. The Sox have not had their backs to a wall all year. I don't think they will know how to handle it. And that is an organization that has not handled pressure well in the past.

Is anyone else really looking forward to the Broncos - Colts game on Sunday night? The return of Manning to Indy, Manning vs Luck (old lion vs young lion), shutting up Jim Irsay after his rather thoughtless comments this week. Rarely does a game have so much back story.

Well not to cast a shadow on your optimism Bruce but there still is a bear in the woods called deficit spending. Nothing in the last 24 hours has changed the problems in our governments economic behavior.

Hasn't this generally been how you've spend the last week or so? ... I approve.. You 2 are very similar in that regard, " two peas in a pod" I'm sure you would get on very well if you ever met in RL You're right. There are a lot of similarities between KP & Ros! The biggest difference is Ros has many girlfriends, KP has one!

It was just the joys (and side effects) of a misspent youth!

Stephanie think i shouldn't worry about things I can't control. Tommy thinks we should go swimming in the creek and cook hot dogs over a fire (I always make a few for him)

I like the ideas Wals. Unfortunately i will have little say in the final reckoning. With the exception of myself and my partners who actually own the business we have only three employees who really work for us. Those guys, well two men and one woman, none of whom I've ever met in person, will receive a severance. We've already decided on that one bit of business. They already know whats going on since they are our "office staff" such as we even have one. We also employ 14 contractors through Tek Systems. Since they are not really ours they will just be terminated. The real issue here is our company does not have any real assets beyond our build contracts and ourselves. The contracts are already signed and their projects started. Our biggest expense is hardware. Since we are a small operation we buy by the project and cannot keep enough stock to buy in bulk. This is also because we custom design each project to the individual site using equipment that can be purchased for the best value in each region. So we end up paying top dollar for the hardware and have to under price our labor costs to make competitive bids. Professional network designers usually make a lot more money than i do. But I'm accepting less because every job we complete increases the value of the business and I have a stake in that. We also keep our costs low by going to companies like Tek Systems for help. The company that has offered to buy us out can provide the hardware at a fraction of the price we bid on those contracts and since they will provide their own labor and retain the designers at the same price they will get far more juice from each job than we could have squeezed. It always comes down to economics. We were doing good with the means we have. but they can do better and like I said, many of my partners are wanting to move on to other things now that this is off the ground.

Like I said before guys, this whole thing was just political theater. There was never any serious threat of a collapse or default here. Just a giant monkey feces throwing fight.

Jeez Enoch. It's gotten to the point a guy can't even engage in a little internet hyperbole without some one coming in ans screwing it all up with facts.

GD wouldn't another solution be to arrest every politician for sedition that is associated with the Tea Party? Then there would be less political conflict? Problem solved... Yeah what the hell. If there is going to be an armed insurrection let's go ahead and get on with it!

You are partially correct Gorgon. However spending and it's effect on currency valuation and interest rates is the one thing the government CAN control.
-
Well, those were just the pros Hurlie. There are cons too. Not the least of which is they don't want our employees, they want our customers. The design guys (including me) would be retained as contractors until all current work is completed but for everyone else that is pretty much it. I guess I'll have to update the old resume and start looking at Linkedin & Monster again.

Edit: I expect the Dodgers and Angels to make a major place for Price. Especially the Angels because their pitching sucks big time. Followed a couple of links and found this artcile about the situation with Schiano. http://tbo.com/sports/bucs/fennelly-bucs-mess-just-cant-end-well-20131013/ should have posted this in the NFL thread Best quote ever: I’d call this a circus, but I’ve stopped doing that out of fear of litigation that actual circuses might consider it libelous to be compared with the Bucs. Hey, don’t think guys with seltzer bottles don’t have lawyers.

Just to point out, almost the entire 8 years of Clinton's Presidency he had to deal with a congress where both houses were controlled by the other party. I keep telling you guys, we are the best off when the white house and congress are controlled by different parties. When democrats held all the cards they went hog wild, spent a ton of money and gave us Obamacare. When the republicans held all the cards they went hog wild, spent a ton of money and gave us the Patriot Act. when one party is running the show it's a BAD thing!

Not to distract for the post season with off season stuff ( some of us have no choice) but there may be a "Ray" of hope on keeping David Price in town: http://www.raysindex.com/2013/10/the-hangover-the-rays-may-be-trying-to-sign-david-price-to-a-long-term-contract.html

It could be both good and bad. The company we completed the Simon Mall project has made an offer to buy our company. We're still discussing it. I'm inclined to turn it down because we are really moving now. we have 17 active projects and bids on more. Were profitable now. To do that within two years of a start up is both exciting and more than a little lucky. But some of our partners are what you'd call venture capitalists and are ready to move on to other things. I'd like to keep this going and I love the work. I have to say I'd sell. I'd rather not. I'd come out of this pretty ok. I'd get a 39% return on my seed capital after just two years. Nothing wrong with that. Plus a two year contract to complete all projects currently in design. And we are all only too aware that we are offering a service that is becoming less and less valuable with 4G LTE cellular service offering equivalent BW without the hang ups and security risks of public access wi-fi. Plus there is market saturation to consider. We came late to the game and have been selling in smaller cities and less developed areas but at some point there will just be no more business to be had. And we are hardly the only company that offers this service. Although there are few "one-stop-shops". But I think if we wait a year or two, continue to grow, and the see what our options are we'd be better off. But it may not be up to me. We'll just have to see how it works out. In the mean time there is still a lot of work to do.

Either of them would get my vote. The GOP picked the wrong cause for the right fight. If this was over the reckless spending levels of the last thirteen years I'm all for it. The US cannot outspend it's revenue in perpetuity. Sooner or later the total collapse will come. Why do you guys think real assets are so overpriced right now? But they staked out this fight over defunding Obamacare. And while I wish that could happen this was not the way to go about it. Obamacare is and will be an unmitigated disaster that everyone will hate before it is all done. But it was legally passed and lawfully upheld. Just get out of it's way and let if be the disaster it can't help but be. The only thing I think they should have insisted on is a provision that forces Congress and it's staff to participate in it without subsidy. After all if it's so ****ing great why did they exempt themselves from it. Where's my exemption? The way the government has been operating for the five years Obama has been in office is nothing short of disgraceful. There has not been a budget in his entire presidency. Instead they have funded the government through continuing resolutions that hold no one to account for where money is spent or how much. and when they run out they just raise the debt ceiling and pass another CR. This will only end one way. I'd prefer to get on with it so it will be over quicker. But that won't happen. The GOP will cave in, give the left everything it wants in return for a few unenforceable promises of future cuts, or more accurately reductions in the rate of growth. none of that will happen either and we will speed on along towards the inevitable.

Oh I'd love to. It would be the biggest one yet. But we may be out of this business before I get the chance

You gotta love the tension in a game like that 1

There is more than enough revenue to service the debt. This whole thing is just political theatre. Just look at it like a big monkey feces fight. The only way anything will actually happen if if the president chooses to let it happen
