Right, we might as well just vote for parties instead of individuals since it seems like that's what most people do anyway The problem would not be as bad if the political parties did not ruthlessly punish politicians who break with the party line. If you go against party leadership too often, no matter how right you might be or how much you constituency wants you to you will find yourself facing a well financed and leadership endorsed primary challenger.

One of the biggest problems with communisim is that it discourages achivement. I paid my own way through college, started four businesses one of which became successful. I've made a nice living for myself and worked very hard to do it. Why shouldn't I have a better standard of living as a reward for that? Would I have done all that if at the end of the day I have the same quality of life as the guy flipping burgers?

I've never really seen how the diminishing or increasing numbers of any enthnic group diminishes the power of any other. At least withing the context of the US. No ethnic group is completely monolithic in it's voting habits. Black voters do ten to be more democrat than republican but this is less so now than a few years ago. And some time back they were largely republican. It is folly to try to pigeon hole hispanic voters into any category because that group is really hundreds of groups that have little in common with each other becase their family histories come from so many different places. People of Cuban, Mexican, an Puerto Rican descent for example might have a common language in their family history but the cultures and values they came from are so different it makes no sense to lump them together

Happy Birthday Skyrim. You are 3 years old today and still awsome.

The US Democrat Party today is a long way from the one you grew up knowing Keyrock. If JFK were around today they wouldn't even have him, let alone nominate him for President. They are very much advocates of aggressive and heavy handed government. They have no respect for individual rights and often regard people who actually have a different political view as enemies to be suppressed. Does that fact that during Obama's admin, and even during Clinton's to a lesser extent the IRS has become "weaponized" to act as the lefts private thought police even surprise you? Does the fact that they have ruthlessly harassed PAC groups that even sounded like they might oppose the President surprise you. Does the idea that the administration considered using military force against American citizens in a local land dispute over grazing fees surprise you? Does the idea that they believe it is perfectly ok for the federal government to compel everyone to enter into a contract with a third party of their choosing surprise you? They are in favor of warrantless spying on our own citizens, invading our homes and seizing private property, secretive courts, secretive legislature sessions, using the courts to subpoena the sermons of pastors in church because they don't like what the pastors said. Does it surprise you that we even had to have a debate over whether it is ok for the US President to order the summary execution of a US Citizen using a drone? All of this was done by democrats in power. Much but not all of it was from the current administration. Don't get me wrong, I hate the US Republican Party. They are hypocritical, not at all ashamed to use the government stick when it suits them while talking about reducing government. They are a fractious and contentious alliance of three political factions that cannot co-exist but somehow do. But the truth is they are such a lesser evil that the alternative. The more the left takes over the US Democrat party the more they become a threat to life, limb and liberty. They are not all bad. Far from it. But I'd never cast a vote for even one of them because even the good and contentious Democrats empower a political philosophy that is so opposed to everything that I and people like me value it would not be a stretch to call it evil.

Yeah I hear you about the legal dichotomy between the Fed and state laws that exists in some cases I was watching a documentary on CNN about the states that have legalised Marijuana and how this has created huge amounts of revenue and is very profitable but because the Federal government still considers Marijuana an illegal drug they wont allow the various weed shops to deposit any money directly, generated from weed sales, into banks and people have to pay for the stock with cash. So the owners of these shops normally always have huge amounts of money on there premises which they have to probably keep "under there mattresses " Its a weird legal issue that exists because of the fact that various states have legalised something the Fed considers illegal Personally whenever the states defy the federal government I have a big smile on my face. This country was founded as a union of sovereign states. We've lost that along the way and it's something we need to get back at least in some measure. So whether it's gay marriage, marijuana, whatever, right or wrong it erodes the power of the federal leviathan and that is only a good thing.

I don't think I could ever do that job. You teach us stuff all the time! I was working a job last year planning and installing wi-fi in public schools here in TN, mostly middle schools, and I think it is something of a minor miracle when all of these kids actually find their way to their next class and their teacher manages to hold their attention for the full 50 minutes. I don't know how much they are paying you but it ain't enough.

You guys realize I was talking about rabbits right? My dogs have less than zero chance of ever being eaten. Heck if food was scarce I'd feed them before I fed myself. I was talking about the last two rabbits. I started raising rabbits for food but my wife got attached to them and now the last two are named Poundcake and Bunny and if I ever even considered cooking them I'd need a divorce lawyer. No, they are destined to dies of old age and I'm destined to net get any fried rabbit. But that's ok.

We could really start privilege checking by how the social justice warriors are all about bringing up and dominating the discussion with white people's problems. Do SJW really bring up only white peoples problems, I always though the movement was much broader than that and included minorities ? Mostly seems to be about white people minorities. And women, who somehow manage to pass themselves as a minority, even though they're actually a majority. But, to get back on track, was assisting at a police hearing and flirted shamelessly (back and forth) with the cute recently-moved-to-the-area female cop. I THINK that my client was too distraught to notice. My **** is going to get me in serious trouble one of these days. Hey you are a young healthy male. That's like getting mad at a compass for pointing north!

No one in this country votes for who they like, we vote for who we hate the least. Amen!

I remember I once killed Firkraag in BG2 on the first hit with Quivering Palm. I wonder what then odds of that were?

You know my only beef with Skyrim was the unmodded Dragons were a bit too easy. I watched from a mountain top while a group of Bandits in Silent Stones took down a dragon. Why the heck does Skyrim need ME to save it? Then I downloaded the Deadly Dragons mod. Now you need to pack a lunch to fight them. Glad to see DA:I is doing that part right.

Fat Athletes With Wood - aka The Baseball 2014 Thread
Guard Dog replied to Keyrock's topic in Way Off-Topic
The Rays traded a reliable LHP Cesar Ramos to the Angels for AA prospect Mark Sappington. I'd never heard of him but from what I read on MiLB.com it sounds like a good deal for the Rays. -
In other news an 18 year old college freshman was elected to the West Virginia state house: http://washington.cbslocal.com/2014/11/05/18-year-old-freshman-elected-to-w-va-house-of-delegates-becomes-youngest-state-lawmaker-in-us/ Also New York voters (New York is like mecca for democrats) rejected a low key democrat in favor of a Republican under indictment for fraud. He may not even complete his term in office if he ends up doing prison time. http://takingnote.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/11/05/new-york-city-elects-a-republican-under-federal-indictment/?_r=0 I guess that is just two more examples of how out of favor the democrats are.

I've got to visit the Scandinavian countries someday. Or anywhere in Europe for that matter. I've been to many places in east Asia, Central America, and even Africa but haven't been anywhere in Europe or Australia yet. Seeing the pics you guys post and hearing you guys talk about it makes me want to go.

Reads to me like a victory for the libertarian wing of the GOP. Let's hope

A picture is worth 1000 words... here is two of them US House Election 2008: US House Election 2014: Congratulations Barack! You have accomplished on thing the Republicans never could: Resurrected their brand!

Bruce, after all the political discussions we've had over the years is it really surprising to you that I would vote against the President and his agenda in any national election? Do you really need me to go over the reasons why... again? But, remember one thing; and If I could tell the Republican leadership anything it would be this: Hating the Democrats is not the same thing as loving the Republicans. They have a golden opportunity here they did nothing to deserve other than be the lesser of two evils. If they use that opportunity to promote smaller, more responsible government, champion personal liberty and freedom, and check Obama's dumber ideas and destructive impulses they can begin rebuilding their brand. In short, they need to listen to the libertarian caucus within their ranks. The they go out and become Democrat-lite, or empower the neo-con factions or the religious right factions or just fall apart due to infighting then they will be gone in two years. I hope they are up to the task but nothing about McConnell and Boehner's history suggests they are. We'll see.

We had four. I voted for three of them. I voted for Lamar Alexander because control of the Senate is very important.
