Ballot access and campaign funding. The LP has to fight tooth and nail for ballot access in every state in every election. And they are battling rules the D & R created to ensure no one else gets in their exclusive clubhouse: elected office. That fight costs money. By the time elections roll around whatever money there is to support campaigns is utterly exhausted fighting for ballot access. So campaigns run on donations alone which means you need a face to the party. Which means you need a Presidential ticket because that is the only way the word Libertarian ever gets spoken or printed in the media. So... wasteful as it may be to run a presidential campaign (and God knows it is) it cannot be dispensed with because without it the odds of the down ballot races drop from next to none to totally none. When you are looking at your ballot no matter what race it is the LP candidate likely has no shot at winning. No matter how vile the other names are. But I've been repeating this over and over trying to drill this point home: the votes cast for that LP candidate will probably not help get him/her elected. But they WILL make things easier for the ones in the next election. Or the one after that if there is enough of them. The D & R have a stranglehold over the politics of this country and it is leading us all to ruin. The only way to break that is NOT VOTE FOR EITHER OF THEM. Yes that will help the one you were voting against. So what? The red bag is just the same as the blue bag when both bags are full of s--t. And they are. Get over this notion of wasting your vote. If you live in a state like CA or TN and vote for a Democrat or a Republican you HAVE wasted your vote. Voting for a 3rd party candidate will not help THAT candidate in all likelihood. But it WILL help the next one, maybe even the ones after that.

Dunno about that. He deliberately tried ti inflame racial, political, and social tensions for selfish reasons. Plus he cost the city a lot more than $10k as the mayor just pointed out. I don't think he deserved to go to jail but I certainly don't think getting off scot free was appropriate. Actually IDGAF either way. but I've already come to the conclusion that is you want justice or for people to get what they deserve you were born on the wrong planet to the wrong species.

A new "civil war" would not play out anything like the last one. There won't be any major battles or fighting over territory. What there would be is pockets of resistance where police and military can expect to be shot at, authority defied, etc. Anyone who tries to meet the US military in a real battle is just stupid. The insurrection wins by demoralizing the rest of the country into not fighting. Make it to worth the trouble. Of course that all really depends on what the casus beli is. You have to realize about 40% of Americans do not love their government. They don't outright hate it either. They tolerate it and it's BS. But it can easily cross a line to make people fight. I always point to gun confiscation as the most likely cause. Because if t ever comes to that then there is no more Constitutional protection of anything. There is no law and what follows will be something I would not want to live through anyway. So for that I'd fight.

I started watching American Horror story today. So far it's Amytiville meets It

I watched The Dirt on NetFlix last night. Great adaptation. The book was better of course. The story covered over 20 years of Crue and it's hard to do that in 108 minutes. But they did a pretty good job. If I could travel back in time it would definitely be Los Angeles in the early 80's. Check out some of the club marquees when you watch this.
