But bro! Did my 6th grade Social Studies report on Stonewall, so I'm biased. We should probably we grateful Ewell was in command of Jackson's Corps on 7/1/1863 and not Jackson himself. He likely would have pressed and taken Culps Hill on the first day. A Confederate battery there prevents Meade from consolidating on the high ground and Gettysburg turns out differently. I rewatched Gettysburg this weekend. Best war movie ever made IMO. Since we were just talking about this. This was a great scene. Great acting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNWWCwED9D0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXmiivqG3-Q

Not hard at all. I can think of three from the Obama years without even resorting to google. My Tribe = Good. Your Tribe = Evil. That's just how it is now.

No of course not. But good as they were, they can't get their teams to the promised land by themselves. -
11a. Kirk Gibson wins the Game: 1988 WS Game 1 an injured Kirk Gibson smacks a 2 run homerun off Dennis Eckersly to win game 1. The LA Times still says this is the greatest sports moment in LA history: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0toCMwEBwLo 11b. Gibson did it four years earlier for Detroit in the '84 Series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MxwERYqnZrQ Goose Gossage is still mad about this by the way! On a different note how cool is it to hear Vin Scully & Ernie Harwell in one post?

In this case Bruce they WANTED it to be true. They wanted this to be true more than anything. Because in their minds everyone that disagrees with them politically is a racist, homophobic, white, male, nazi. Because obviously who else could support Trump in their minds. No comes this story that validates all their preconceptions and the jump all over it. I think Smolett knew that would happen and that is why he did it. But like a lot of people he underestimated the investigative abilities of the police.

The sun doesn't shine on the same dogs a-s every day. Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing, Reggie Miller... I'm sure there are others but those come to mind, never won a championship. -
It's just one part of HR 1. It's just a resolution. It's meaningless. It's political patter to make their team happy and piss off the other team. Neither is a particularly wise strategy but... they can't help themselves.

The House voted in a resolution to allow non-citizens in the US illegally to vote. https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2019/mar/8/house-votes-favor-illegal-immigrant-voting/ Now, this actually is a symbolic gesture because it does not actually do anything. And if it were a real bill it would never be accepted by the Senate or President so this is all just a lot of noise. But it IS an extremely stupid thing to do if they want to retain their hold on the House or put a jackass in the White House in '20. This is going to (and was meant to) infuriate the Trump base. The last thing you want to do it piss them off enough to make them vote in large numbers. The smart thing is keep a lid on your more extreme members as much as possible and spend two years quietly advancing your left wing BS and loudly tripping up Trump and making him look like a buffoon. The idea would be to make him look ineffective not just BE ineffective. You want to depress the voters who oppose you. Not make them rabid and chomping at the bit to vote. Pelosi might be evil but she isn't stupid. She was off to a good start with this. But like I've said before... they just can't help themselves.

#12 Jackie Steals Home George Davis stole home for the White Sox during the 1906 World Series. I didn't happen again for 49 years but when it did Jackie made it look easy. It takes guts to make this move. But one thing Robinson had in great quantities was guts! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XY-XshGhMU Since then it's only been done twice. Tim MCarver in '64 and Brad Fullmer in '02. I was sure Reggie Jackson did it but it turned out that was in the ALCS not the WS

I am a lifetime Bucs fan but not a Jaemis Winston fan (anymore). But there is hope a new coaching staff and new scheme will benefit him. There is no doubt he has talent. There is also no doubt he has character and work ethic issues. So $20M for one more chance to straighten him out is a small enough price considering the other options. A rookie QB basically means 2-3 seasons of develpment and with Flacco off the board who could you even trade for that would be an upgrade? Rosen is an unknown, Keenum, Bortles, Tanyhill are all damaged goods. No JW is a better option.

So get this one. A town in Germany raided a family's home to seize items to cover unpaid taxes. One of the things the helped themselves to was the family dog: https://www.npr.org/2019/02/28/698900379/in-germany-family-pug-seized-and-sold-on-ebay-to-cover-unpaid-debts I have always said taxation is theft. In this case it's really true. While that would not happen here in the US if it did... trouble. You can lien my house, garnish my pay and take away my driver's license. But if you think you're going to take my dog you better think again! You better be packing more than a court order and be willing to die for your job!

If the Dolphins or Jaguars or Giants get Rosen for a 3rd round pick (which seems right) they are getting a steal.

#13 The Miracle Mets Worst to First comebacks from one season to the next are common enough in the era of free agency. But doing it in season is pretty rare. To say the '69 Mets started slow would be an understatement. Going into June they had a .475 winning percentage and were 11 games out of first. But no one expected anything from them that year so what happened next was pretty improbable. The Mets went 79-39 the rest f the way and won the pennant by 8 games. Then swept the Braves and won the WS against a very strong Orioles team in 5 games. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmjuuQQX3Z4

I heard something this week about sabermetrics. Sports agent Scott Boras said it. Sabermetrics is the ruler judging the quality of the cloth. It equates 10 inches of silk and 10 inches of canvas because both are 10 inches. But silk is more valuable than canvas. I though that was pretty insightful.

@Gromnir Lee was actually a pretty decent tactician considering logistics and large unit strategy. As you and I have discussed in the past he was not the man you'd want to win a battle unless he was in a defensive posture. Grant enjoyed a superior tactical position through most of the war. In the west he was fortunate to be matched against inferior commanders and in the east he was fortunate to me matched against a Confederate army whose strength was mostly spent. This list overrated him by a bit. That said he was still a decent general. Certainly in the top 20 in that he was prudent, careful, and mindful of the cost of any victory. EDIT: IMO the best Confederate commander was Longstreet. Primarily for the reasons Grant was a good General. He was prudent, tactically sound, and mindful of cost. But he was much more content to win a war of attrition and Lee was very determined to force a short conclusion.

Apparently Kyler Murray rubbed some teams the wrong way during interviews at the combine: https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-rumors-kyler-murray-struggled-004119468.html

I thought this was pretty interesting. A ranking of the greatest Generals in history using a sabermetric style scoring system: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=18tLrSw-w1s Hard to fault their thinking on most of them. I thought Julius Caesar was over rated since the in the majority of his victories he was outnumbered but commanded a technologically more advanced , better equipped, and more disciplined force. Plus the Gauls were no really united until it was too late to matter. I also thought Hannibal is a little underrated. It's hard to imagine a commander ho did more with less.
