That is true for a lot of people here. So if someone said something about your English, maybe he/she really had problems understanding what you mean, or just had the impression that you didn't really try? I always thought that you really were from Texas. It was not a personal insult, if you ask me. It's just that the forum members here are used to very deep discussions about game mechanics and stuff and there you come, saying the new system isn't good and very confusing, but admit on the other hand that you didn't even have a good look at it. All concerns are discussed here, but most members expect that you know what you are talking about. Maybe I went a little to far, comparing you to Sonic , but Mannock was just a little sarcastic. Stop complaining and try to better articulate your point of view. That's a lesson many of us had to learn, including me.

Thx. That's funny. My sister lives in Neukirchen. Challenge accepted. As long as I don't have to pronounce them, or remember them in a different context, I too never had problems with that. I think, I don't remember the actual words, but the shape of them (The "Wortbild", don't know how it's called in english).

That's not what I meant. I just made a suggestion how to start the discussion. If you say that you where confused by the casting system and want other peoples opinion, you could make the first move and tell people what confused you and if they made similar experiences. If noone knows what you are talking about, you won't get a useful response. So: What was your problem with the new casting system? And for those who didn't play the beta (like me): In which way is it different. All that I know is, that per rest is gone.

But you have to understand: Those redheads are continously trying to shove their redheadedness down my throat. And then there's those terrible RJWs (You can't see them, but they are everywhere. They even undermined the White House. And the Brewery Cooperative Hinterhaching.) always telling me what hair color to like or dislike. You don't have the right to force me to find redheads attractive! And after all: Most of the people that invested their money into the game are dark haired. Or at least blond. Wouldn't it be just unfair, if other-haired people would be all over the game? What if I want to romance a dark-haired character and there is none? What if there was, but I don't like her? If there wasn't a red-haired one, the chance of finding a character that I like would be much higher. I paid for that! Sry, I couldn't resist.

I was just joking. What I meant is: Under Joshs supervision I don't expect anything too silly. But maybe he said: "Carrie and Kate: Do what you want" In which case I wouldn't know, what to expect. But it looks, as if the whole team has put a lot of effort in it, so I'm positive too, no matter who's what kind of sexual.
-
As Josh made the impression of disliking romances entirely, I think he will try to make the best out of them and will try to find new ways. Personally I hope to see the first game ever, where I won't find them annoying. But then again ... maybe he didn't want to have to do anything with them and gave the job to an intern.

Disclaimer: I think the idea of a "player sexual" companion is stupid as hell, but that is not the point. Are we really that far that we need switches to turn off things we don't like? We are talking about an RPG and what you two are constructing here is a hetero/homosexual power fantasy depending on your particular point of view. Either of you should get used to the fact, that there are people that are not like you. If you dislike them, throw them into the bloodpool or whatever (it's still just a game), but then at least you have to acknoledge the fact, that they are there. Nobody is "forcing" anything to anybody (OK, in the case of Dragonspear that was kind of the case. When this hyperactive thing sprang into my face my first thought was to kill it), just because it is included in the game world. In games you have all kinds of aspects of human life. There is racism, corrupt politicians, ignorant scientists as well as altruism and cute little animals. As long as it fits there should be no problem.

That sounds like an interesting starting point to build a fantasy culture around. Also it sounds like something Josh Sawyer would do. Maybe you're lucky. Had to look up what Finno-ugric means. That's a lot of languages I never even heard of. Just imagine what one could do with those.

I like playing dwarfs and other small races too. My wife has the theory, that it's a sign of low self esteem. Don't know, if she has a point.

Did I mention the giant rump steaks?

I don't really know as I don't play lots of "modern" games. I mainly play oldschool fantasy stuff, RPGs only, never shooters or other 3D-cinema-like games. In fantasy RPG type of games the presence of black characters is often reduced to the choice of skin color. There are some NPCs in the game that have different shades of brown or black and maybe there is a country like Vailia that is inhabited by black people, but mostly the culture of that country is just a reflection of some existing country. The people there are black, but it is just cosmetic. Western or asian countries definitely get more love. (Don't know, why you mentioned asians. The magical asian ninja country is a must have in every fantasy setting that goes beyond medieval europe) I banned no one. You just have to read the whole post. But I'm especially interested in the opinion of black people as that post from the black guy was what started me thinking. I never could imagine playing white, male characters only, but as I read that post I realized, that over the years I read a few posts from black people where they said, that they wanted to play black characters. I especially remember that one, where someone described the feeling of playing Baldurs Gate for the first time as a kid. It was the first game, where he was able to choose a black MC and he was very happy to play "someone like him". So I asked myself, if that kind of exclusion leads to a different roleplaying behaviour. But to be honest, I don't even know, if that is still a problem. Apart from PoE I didn't buy games for the last 15 years. I have one question: Why dwarves? Please excuse my bad english and confused writing, I'm a little drunk. My wife and I are celebrating womens day

I'm gone for a few hours and you guys start a fight My question was mainly directed towards black people and other underrepresented people. I wanted to know, if such a background influences your roleplaying and how. And I wanted to know how black people would like to see black people inside fantasy worlds. I have nothing against white guys posting, but please don't let this thread become a flame war about racism or something. And it would be nice, if some actual black people would answer. I really just wanna know, how people feel about it. What's funny is, that I still don't know, who of the posters is black and who is white. My first reaction was "What? Gifted is black?" (I always imagined him as a white metal guy or something like that). Now I'm not shure anymore. The internet is a funny place.

Some questions that came to my mind while reading a thread about class and race choices in PoE. There was that black guy who said, that he always plays black guys. As my current character in that game is ocean folk (which are black, in case you didn't play that game) I wondered why he never plays white guys. So instead of asking him, I thought I could ask everybody. What kinds of characters do you play? What backstories do they have? Do you ever play white people and if yes, what kinds of characters? If not why? What do you think of the kind of representation of black people in video games or fantasy? In my opinion ocean folk are pretty badass, but basically they are just black Italians. What would a black country in your fantasy setting be like? If you are from some other underrepresented country, skin color or whatever I would be interested in an answer too. Sorry if my childish curiosity should offend anyone. I mean no harm.

So you finally came to realize that our quest indeed is vain.

OK, just in case you are not sonic mage: Nothing against your post. It just seemed to me that it was a forward pass (Can I say that in english?) for sonic. If you say you don't like the casting system and wish to discuss that, maybe you shouldn't ask others why they don't like it. Maybe you should start by telling us which changes you didn't like and why.

Let's say, I chose this picture for a reason. He's still my favorite video game character of all time. Unmodded of course. Leaves more room for imagination (Which actually brings us back to the topic, as I just realised). As a teenager I felt so understood by that guy. Sometimes I talk like that on purpose, but mostly it's just me. I love the word pointless.

Yeah, or the sidekicks, cause that's what they're for. You are not reasonable. You are just constantly repeating what you want. Achilles on the other hand just stated, that there are reasons for the sidekicks to be in the game and that they are alrerady in, so all that complaining is useless, especially as you didn't even play the ****ing game yet. And guess what: Surprisingly other people want other things than you and guess what else: They will get them and you won't. Get over it! Seriously: What's your problem guys? All that whining and nagging and "I want, I want, I want" that came to this forum in the last year or so. It is so incredibly annoying.
