  1. I don't. This is a small right wing party in germany that gets an unproportional amount of attention in the media. You can find those kind of ****ers all over Europe these days. If you question their opinions, all they say is: "Oh so you use Nazis as a way to discredit everyone on the right side." Also they often claim to be a minority standing in for the views of the silent majority. They also claim, that minorities get to much attention. Reminds me of someone. Fun fact: I never used the word Nazi. Because the same argumentation would apply: It gives no return (Which isn't true by the way. I just take your point of view.). Why bother making black characters models? Why bother writing lesbian storylines? Why bother creating a fictional minority to represent existing minorities. Let's just leave this part away and concentrate on the real important things: Killing goblins. I would aprreciate, if you could follow your own argumentation to the end on your own. I'm not here to think for you. As I told you: It's not that hard. If you don't want them to waste time on bull****, concentrate your efforts an a topic that does waste time. Romances for example. Don't play dumb. I said that romances are completely optional. Noone needs them. But they take a considerable amount of development time to be implemented. Wheres these pronouns are relatively easy to implement and seem to be important for some people. Of course they wouldn't. It would mostly affect scripted sequences. Romances maybe. Besides: This has already been done decades ago. Without anyone demaning for it. Can't be that hard.
  2. You have black people in it and they are completely equal. You have at least a lesbian. Not shure about the sexual orientation of other characters. I don't give much attention to those things. You have different degrees of equality between man and woman depending on the cultural background. Not to mention all those things that are hidden between the lines. Noone asked for that. This thread is just for a third gender option. A variable. Nothing more. We are not even talking about representation here. It does not make much sense that anyone would react to it. So it's mostly about pronouns, a thing that is already implemented for male and female and just has to be expanded by a third variable. This is not like romance options which take an enormous amount of work that could be spent better in my opinion. Muhaha! White, sexist, homophobic people are a silent minority. Of course. In Germany we have a term for that kind of talk. Don't know, if it's internationally used. We call it Mimimi. Silent minority... We have such a silent minority here (again). Silently they are shouting in the streets: "Deutschland den Deutschen!". Silently they are burning asylums for refugees. Silently they are stating on TV, that Hitler wasn't that bad and we were a victim of the allied forces. And just like you did, they claim to represent all the other good white people. So why are you so keen on proving that 7% is not a high enough number of people to consider that option? Why are you so keen on proving that you are part of the "normal" people? Oh, and I dont assasinate your character, I question your intentions. That's different. Besides: Your argumentation would finally lead to kick out every minority from the game. Would be a fun game. No black people. No Orlans, Glanfathians or Amaua as they are representing other cultures or even majorities (How disgusting). No quest for Aloth. Pallegina wouldn't even be there. Just brave and honest white people killing goblins. Would that be to your taste? Maybe you should try Diablo. How do you come to that conclusion? Do you really think, that there are much people like you, that wouldn't buy that game, just because of a gender variable? (Funny, sometimes you claim to be the minority, sometimes not). It's a role playing game. I for one would think it's funny to play as it or they. I also think it would be funny to play as a gay person. In the current PoE this would not even make a difference as the only spot in the game where it would affect my decisions is the Salty Mast, which is kind of pointless. So you can count me to that 7% in regards of returns. Not to mention all those sensible people out there that don't give a ****. Why do you even bother? No one tries to take away things from you. We are not talking about a considerable amount of development time, believe me, I know what I am talking about. I can't get rid of the feeling that all you are trying to do, is taking away things from others.
  3. Your argument is, that 7-8% percent or whatever numbers you pciked out your nose of all people are gay or something. So they should not be included, because that would be unfair towards, ... i dont know ... heteerosexual people or other minorites or something. Your "argument" is totally invalid. - First: because heterosexual people and other minorities are already included in the game. - Second: because the only thing that can be concluded from your blablabla is that 7% of all characters in the game should be gay or something - Third: because this isn't about including something that would exclude others, or would lead to a more demands from excluded others. What possible gender options could there be besides he, she and it/them? - Fourth: The percentage of stupid ****tards like you is below 1%. The returns ... diminishing ... bla bla bal Please excuse me bad english and shallow argumentation. You didn't take the time to check your "argument" for spelling errors, so as writing english is not easy for me, I thought I could spare the thinking.
  4. But it does not have to. Don't be afraid. You are the norm. You are per-fect-ly normal. I can assure you. It is statistically proven.
  5. I think there is no need for an argument for a class based system. Pillars is a class based game just because it is, beause those are the rules of the game. It's like arguing about wether the rules of chess are limiting. Of course they are. That's the point. Well, now he/she can, because of multiclassing. But if you want full specialisation you have to play a mage of course. It is totally possible to create a non-rogue character with sufficient mechanics or stealth skills, so you are not really limited. But if you want to have a specialist, then of course you have to play a rogue. I think it is totally natural that my plumber is better at plumbing than me. So what? That's roleplaing in some sense. I often leave behind characters I don't like without proper replacement, so I have to be creative.
  6. I promise: If I'll ever make a game, this will be the first feature that will be implemented. Wait... I once made a game and it was the first feature that was implemented. Too bad that it never got finished.
  7. Having an option to choose another gender would only shift that problem, because: Option 1: You choose your new gender, let's say it is super neutral. You will be called 'it'. The game would adress you that way. The NPCs would not know of the fact, that you like to be adressed that way, so unless you tell them nothing would change. If you tell them, you would have that stupid conversation every time, then you would be called "it", but what is gained by that? Option 2: Something more obvious. Your character is queer. Let's make it really obvious, so that the game can actually respond. You can dress your character in bright colors and give him womens cloths (or vice versa). Three possible scenarios: a) The game will just accept you, as you are. So in fact nothing happens. If queer people are perfectly normal in the game world, the game world have no reason to react to it (Apart from romances, which is not the topic of this thread). Your character would be the same as any male or female character but with bright clothes. b) The game will react in a positive way. Like: "Oh, you are so brave to show your true self like that". In this case you would be the "Hi, I'm gay"-guy. c) The game will react in a negative way. Now people will complain, that the game world just reflects the real world, which is very depressing. So what do you propose? P.S.: I'm not trying to attack you or something. I just want to know how you imagine your ideal game to be. And please: Nothing about romances. I've enough about romance discussions.
  8. I already stumbled upon Baron Samedi yesterday. I like that guy (I always liked the trickster types.). Seems like everyone knows him, except for me. He even was in a disney movie and James Bond. I should find out more about voodoo, it's even cooler than I thought. What bothers me a bit, is that for all those articles the sources are mostly books about LGBT themes, to be exact most of the books are from Conner & Sparks. That either means that other authors are not interested in this topic or even trying to avoid it or that the LGBT authors see the world through their eyes. I have this habit of not trusting an author with a possible agenda. Like creationists who are always referring to creationists books. I'm trying to find out if the inclusion of LGBT topics into those religions/cultures is a modern interpretation or if these things really go back to the roots. Btw: Do you really know something about that stuff, or is it just a bit of personal interest? Nothing related to the topic. Just similar words. That dance is really cool (Especially after having a funny cigarette), but without knowing anything about that culture it could be interpreted in several ways. Like that Japanese Kabuki stuff (One of those masks looks so ****ing Japanese) or theatre in ancient times, when women just weren't allowed to play on stage, so men had to take the female roles. P.S.: I am getting the feeling that I'm accidentally trolling this thread. I would like to continue with that topic, but this does not seem the proper place. Maybe we should get a room or something. Any ideas?
  9. Which was the first thing I did after finding a human flesh armor Yeah, I still remember my first playthrough. After visiting the smoldering corps all I did was stumbling around the game, trying to find a way to get that guy out of there. I didn't even know, that he was a companion. Now that I talk about it... I forgot how to do it and if it was easy or not... Should play that game again. As someone already said, that is the Tyranny Expansion Trailer. Which I already saw
  10. As I never played that and never will, could you describe it in short words inside a spoiler tag, please?
  11. Speaking of which, ... I claimed twice that adressing charname in descriptive texts as "them" or whatever would suffice. As I am not affected by this whole matter, it was rather presumptuous of me. What do you think about it? This two-spirited-thing seems to be a rather modern invention. I'm not very interested in that as I find the current activites of any LGBT or whatever community rather boring. I'm more interested from a historical/traditional point of view. Inuraj claimed that a transgender person in certain native american tribes would have been expected to be a shaman. On the "transgender people and religion" wikipedia article I found nothing about that, also other cultures had similar ideas. Googling only brought me back to that two-spirited-stuff. EbonyBetty said that in nigeria transgender persons are called "Zuru oni okè". Googling that I only found bull**** and this thread.
  12. Who is the troll? The OP or the one continously trying to change this discussion into a discussion about trolling?
  13. Which was a good thing. I never looked anything up. Didn't even know how and where. So I found out everything by my self. At the beginning in every playthrough I found something new.
  14. Thank you very much. As my brain is only functioning partially, I would have never figured that out alone.
  15. This, I think, goes to the core of the problem Because what they want is that it is more than the choice of a character model. I belive that most of those who want that option would be satisfied if the game just adressed them es gender neutral. I think we already agreed that it does not make sense in conversations (As noone in the game world could possibly know, that the main char defines it's gender as neutral). So if the game would use a third gender inside descriptive texts that would be enough I think. Which isn't a great deal. I'm a developer, I should know. Claiming that genders means nothing but your genitals isn't true, by the way. You wouldn't like it if I adressed you as she or it, wouldn't you?
  16. About all that shaman stuff: Do you have any sources for that, or is it just internet knowledge?
  17. I was just astounded that you fight over it for eleven pages. I never claimed to be a brilliant thinker nor did I call or "dictate" you anything. You on the other hand took the time to write a lengthy post just to insult us. You make the impression of a very unpolite and self-centered 10-year-old.
  18. Whatever fits the character. My first playthrough is almost always with a male dwarf wizard as a warmup than I try to make something very differently. For Pillars I created a female character named Pirate Jenny named after a song from the Threepenny Opera. In Pillars 2, as there are romances I try to do a run as an evil gay barbarian. Not shure if the game gives me the opportunity to do that. I for one am male, heterosexual and have no strong sense of gender. In fact I find it ridiculous to make differences. I understand that people are having difficulties "choosing" a sex, but in my opinion nobody has to choose at all. That you have a **** does not mean you have to eat beef and drink beer all day, make sexist comments and be a tough guy. That you like to wear womens cloth does not make you a woman or forces you to pick another gender. And I know what I am talking about. When I was a child/teenager I had long hair. Most people thought I was a girl and lots of them mocked me. It never really bothered me and if I wanted to wear a skirt I would have done so. That does not change the fact that I am male, whatever that is supposed to mean.
  19. The point is to constantly adress her in a way she does not like to be adressed. And let her see the implications. She said, that gender means either having a **** or a vagina and nothing more. That is not true. There are always implications. In this case I chose a more sexist approach to make my point clearer, but even if I didn't Sakai would be viewed differently as a woman. In my opinion she knows that and only plays the naive girl. I don't care. Teasing girls is so much fun.
