People dumped it in POE 1 also

Then they missed out on all the dialogue options.

I think a lot of people preferred to wreck house in combat instead.

Funny you say that,  I have always liked tanking and healing (in the mmo sense) so I like defensive characters, pure DPS characters bore me lol  I cant stand how they fold like a stack of cards, granted you are right sometimes what you want is quick death so that nothing is standing.  Just the idea of a character who is soft turns me off

  2. The differences between DEX/PER/MIG are not that big. And here it's only about dps. MIG is also useful for healing, PER is useful for finding traps and secrets and so on. I think the usefulness of stats is pretty balance except RES which is often still a dumpstat. ;)

I will be honest Boer I have been less active in the game, it just seems worse.  Talk me off the ledge man.  Res sucks again :( not even for lessening debuffs??!?!

Yeah my experience with paladins is they are ver effective in the early levels and once you hit mid levels they just become outright boring. Alot of there mid to high level abilities are bizarrely seem to not even work or are maybe even bugged for example:

    - self immolation kills you (43 raw damage per 3 sec)

    - hastening exhortation gives +5 dex and is a high level ability that costs 3 zeal

    - the paladins reviving exhortation does huge damage to you after 15 sec that more often then not kills you. The priests and chanters revive doesnt do any damage to you.

    - reinforcing exhortation is there best high level abilty by a ling shot but it is only single target and has a really short duration (12 sec)

    - there passive deflection bonus faith and conviction is a huge pain in the arse to maintain. You will even be penalised and lose deflection is you take just one conversation that goes against there dispositions you can be penalised

    Screw paladins

Everything you say is on point except the last. The F and C dispositions is part of playing a Paladin. It’s part of being in a warrior society/group. I was in the Marines for 8 years you were expected to act a certain way. Granted you don’t all of the sudden become terrible at shooting because you conduct yourself in an unbecoming way. It’s the same type of idea for Paladins. Their power is based on acting a certain way.

It's really unfortunate that dispositions seem so random or hard to manage organically in PoE2. Could be because not all convos have all choices, but why would they?

    Thanks for your service btw.

That is fair.  In POE 1 it was kind of the same lol

  5. Ya I’m taking a spear in the early game as ACC issues hit you hard on PoTD due to the increased defenses. Maybe spear and buckler? Large shield for dragons etc (no spoilers!) the early game a large shield is just brutal on your ACC and since aggro doesn’t exist you get ignored and you can’t get hit a damn thing. Need at least some melee output from my front liner. Due to being up front and having lots of engagement he will tank enough in order to get value you out of that and he will have lay on hands m, auras and some buffs.

  6. This was my thought process as well just wanted confirmation. Really don’t like Druid multi thematically so I guess it’s either Herald full support or a Crusader for off tank damage dealer. I feel that a crusader doesn’t bring enough support in full tank mode as he gets ignored due to too much deflection. Swashbucklers and other classes debuff well so there is value in doing less damage. I also feel that herald tanks bring a lot due to lots of healing and buffs.

  7. I’ve finally started play throughs in earnest and need your advice. Do you guys think a single class Paladin contributes enough with buffs and inspirations to warrant a slot or is a sub class needed e.g. Herald etc (On PoTD). I was thinking crusader but i feel like a crusader with a shield is missing a huge opportunity on damage and that would be his contribution, not buffs. More of an off tank and damage dealer. For support a Herald is obviously better. But does a single class Paladin bring enough? Or is a multi class to Herald just in plain better?

  8. If they aren't targeting you, finding ways to increase your engagement (forcing them to fight you or take damage) seems to be what you need.

maybe im getting lazy on my micro.  Melee guys do attack the tank when engaged.  More so as an Unbroken Crusader.  Its ranged enemies switching.  In POE 1 I would pop the tank out first he took a lot of heat while everyone buffed.

  9. I was debating finally dropping the shield on my tank (especially my paladin).  I struggled with this in POE 1 but because Outworn Buckler was so beneficial to the party I never dropped it.  I have not finished the game yet but I do not see a shield that good that benefits the party yet! (no spoilers)!.  So shields have the affect of giving my Crusader too much defense and whoever is not engaged (ranged bad guys) will not target him for obvious reasons....I was thinking just giving him a 2hander or duel wielding will make ranged target him more....obviously he'd be a bit more squishy but Eder does just fine as a duelwielder with constant recovery...What do you guys think?  I have NOT completed the game so I am thinking maybe Dragon types a shield user might be needed...

  10. I think the Fort Defense sucks on the build but admit-tingly its an off tank.  I usually main tank with my Paladins meaning they are the ones who pop out of stealth first and the take the heat from Dragons (If they dragon is not cced right).  I like having 150+ Fort on PoTD.  In GROUP play I do not think PER is necessary.  With debuffs, ACC buffs, Sworn Enemy and Distance advantage (if you go wood elf) you have more than enough accuracy.  I have done both with high PER and PER at 10 and the difference is negligible.  In fact the 10 PER Paladin did more damage because he took Zealous Endurance and Durance was buffing with Blessing.  That 10% damage made him slightly out damage the high PER Paladin by about 100 points.  Same time in game played it was a completionist play through.
