  1. Ya right now I’m in between a Golden Dragon tank and a dragon thrashed tank, competing for the last spot in my crew. The other 5 are, Quick switch Paladin tank, Duel Wield Fighter, storm tank, Blight Wizard and Buff priest. What do you guys think?
  2. Well, what a cabal of wizards is doing in an Engwythan Ruin that holds souls is beyond me and seems quite dangerous and well if they attack you on sight you can just RP the fact that they are doing something they are not supposed to be, You had the full intent of talking it out but they thought otherwise, regardless of who puts up the bounty if they are bad they are bad... But yes you are right, It might be out of character for some to take the quest.
  3. I think that's only your interpretation. Although there is a scene where he puts on a machine to suck the souls out of a lot of people, I don't think he single-handedly created all the gods at once. Correct, that flipping of the switch could have been creating the gods or it was just another sacrifice of Engwithans to power Woedica or whatever god needed more souls at the time/some other plot he was orchestrating.
  4. So I have this build with Eder, could be a Fighter or anyone duel wielding and I am duel wielding Sabres of the Seas (Hel Wax mold, probably not the best use but its fun) + Swaddling sheet with Eder, he gets three Overwhelming waves per encounter its devastating when he gets all three procs lol (maybe this could be a thematic build with White Crest Armor). Plus I have a druid and Kana with White Crest armor in the group so I have the power of the seas at my hands...a lot! lol I never really used the fire lash enchant for Chanters but I decided to use it this time around instead of just dragon thrashed, dragon wailed and man that lash kicks butt. I usually do not waste Flames of Devotion on support one handers but I just used it to fire off the deflection buff it gives as I have the upgrade with my Shieldbearer....and with the the chanter fire buff it has crit medium DR targets for 75+ lmao thats not bad for a one hander. My Paladin also has Scion of Flame and Intense Flames so that helps. PS obviously Flames of Devotion Arbalest shots with all these upgrades are brutal. Anyway I thought I would share as I have some fun with these synergies.
  5. Take all the healing Passives. Ancient Spirits and it’s up grade. This should be enough healing, if you want more take the invocation called Rejoice my Comrades Two Fingers of Light! You can either do this as a front line tank or a back line supporter with a ranged weapon, I prefer tank. Take all defensive talents especially weapon and shield style and Bears Fortitude (more important if on PoTD). Use a hatchet and if you are not looking to do any offensive chanting use a large shield. If you want to damage (you can passively heal and do high AOE dmg at level 9 with the dragon thrashed and the dragon wailed. OP AOE damage by just sitting there lol If you want to support and shot in the back line take the Ilya buffing chant to speed up reloads if you have a shooter party. If you want to charm take the charm Invocation at level 5
  6. It’s there I use it every play through and give it to him at level 3. Currently in a play trough he’s got Disciplined Barrage.
  7. I know! Dude I love it and like POEs version better, it is less restrictive/I really like the role. I am just saying some of the ability names match more of a Holy champion (D and D/WoW Paladin type) then the POE version
  8. Welp I don't see a problem in here. I mean... those are class/abilities names so nothing's wrong with them. Sometimes when I read this forum I feel like people are looking for bad things in things that are good and typical for RPG/cRPG. Also bear in mind that most of the cRPGs/RPGs draw from D&D. :3 Do not get me wrong Worshiper of Rymrand (I as assuming this cause of your forum pic lol) I love D and D and their Paladins and love POE's version of them as well. The real difference being their power source. I just think its a bit weird that a Bleak Walker is a holy slayer with hands of light. I know it is picky and as long as it works well I can get past it.
  9. Not trying to be picky and as long as the abilities/cross classes are good it doesn't really matter but....none of the Paladin Orders we play as are religious and I see an ability like "Hands of Light" and a cross class combo of Paladin and Rogue called a Holy Slayer. I know its semantics...what do you guys think? I guess Hands of Light could just be part of the fire based themes/inspiration that Paladins have...
  10. Ya with a big INT you can use it from the back. Backliner Paladins need to be smarter then us melee guys If I’m in melee with a Paladin 15 is enough hell I’ve done 13 lately in INT on a frontline guy (none Darcozzi) and it’s enough.
  11. I was hoping they’d push release to April 2019 lol the game still needs work I think
  12. I do man I’m one of them but I can’t assume you are a trial of iron/heart of fury type player, that’s all. Anyway I downvote your proposed idea but ya another mode is welcome. PS let me reiterate @scythe that I apologize for the digs on the early post. I do agree that another mode would be cool.
  13. This is the modern era. Just about every game has aspects from other genres, hell good luck trying to pin down what kind of game Divinity: Original Sin actually is. Is it an RPG? Is it a turn-based RPG? Is it a hack-and-slash/action RPG? Is it a sandbox RPG? Why is it an RPG, again? Did you miss the part where I pointed out that I've played PotD too many times? At this point I can solo PotD pre-act 3 on mostly muscle memory, and that's probably because I come from the BG1/Fallout era when characters had this habit of dying all the time just from a stray crit. We simply had to up our game if we wanted to play at higher difficulty levels. Even when BG2 came out (and after several years of playing) the challenge just wasn't enough anymore, which is why we considered it a godsend when someone decided to introduce a mod that allowed you to fight a planetar right from Irenicus' Dungeon. The Icewind Dale 2 devs actually heard our plea and introduced a unique setting called Heart of Fury mode, which is basically a variation of the "Trial of Copper", except just over a year later, Black Isle was gone. Interestingly some of the Infinity Engine EE devs are now re-introducing a kind-of Heart of Fury mode for their games. Anyway, nice on you for being so passionate about attacking other people's passions. You know, that is kind of an interesting question when you think about. I sort of like how games a couple decades ago were far harder to pidgeon hole. Like the original Deus Ex, where you can complete the entire game with maybe five combat encounters. The original Fallout was flexible enough to also accommodate a relatively pacifist playthrough. There is also The Longest Journey which, while not really an RPG, always felt to me like it should have been and sort of missed its calling. Only a rare few truly extraordinary titles allow sufficient freedom for a player to elect their own experience and still be satisfying without relying upon combat as filler content. It's the same today actually, except everything is skewed towards action games. The thing about action games is that it's all about stimuli - you receive data (through a combat mechanics box or your basic senses) and you respond appropriately. The game then rewards/penalizes you based on your reaction time/the appropriateness of your reaction. It's very similar in this respect to strategy games, except strategy games give you much, much more time to figure out what your next move should be. The thing is that a lot of game devs these days seem to be interested in making their games "more engaging" by (for some reason) introducing visual/auditory stimuli (ie, making their games more action game-y) instead of creating a more complicated/branching story mechanic (in that respect some JRPGs are actually ahead of their western counterparts). Maybe current trends are because a lot of people want to "experience" more from their home instead of trying to imagine how a certain scenario would play out based on context? Who can say. I read your posts again and still do not see where you say you play on PotD but who cares if you do that is cool, if you dont ok cool too lol That being said I do not see the point of some wacky damage mode like you proposed. Most casual players/"busy" people will play on normal and you have the small percentage that play on PoTD and Trial of Iron modes. I do not see the need for your proposed mode. PS I come from the same era as you.
  14. Jokes aside, this post will probably end up being brutal but passion can be brutal sometimes... It still bugs me that they decided to apply such drastic changes after all the hard work they've done to reach the 3.0 Quality. I mean, they litteraly threw everything they've made to balance it. Combat felt great, the pace was good, casters were fine, etc. Now everything is f**cked up again. Some said they struggled to indentify what happens in combat because of , quote : "VFX Overload". So they changed the party size to 5 : Ok I'm sad, but I can deal with that. Adam implemented a VFX Opacity which basically, F**cking solves the "VFX Overload" by itself. Great ! You're DONE now ! Everything is Ok ! And then, somehow, everything else that made POE Combat finally great, has been thrown away. ------------------------------------------------------------------ They wanted to implement the Empower thing : Why wouldn't they add that, iterate around it, to make it work over the 3.0 system. Empower is a good addition & a good idea on paper.------------------------------------------------------------------ Then, we've all witnessed the so-called "Might Issue", which is total bullsh*t to be honest. Seriously, Might wasn't, and has never been associated with muscles. Only dumbass people that had such a restricted mind, and couldn't work their head around it, claimed that Might made no sense, because they could'nt read a f**cking description. When you add Might to a Wizard, you just have to understand that you enhance his Spiritual Power, not his muscles, doesn't that makes sense ? When you add Might to a Fighter, you enhance his Physical Power, it's just englobed into the same category. But no, they decided that Might is "only about muscles, it doesn't make sense omg lol xD lmao". ------------------------------------------------------------------ There are too many things to say, and I start getting lost in my own point. So, to summarize : All the balance they've made to achieve the 3.0 Quality, they threw it all... & now, have to rebalance everything, all over again from the beginning, because it f*cked things up. They wanted to introduce new mechanics... Ok great ! Do it ! But do it so it works around the system that is already in, and make it work with it. In addition to that, they cut half the things that were already there to help the game feel better, which f*cks things up even more. ------------------------------------------------------------------ By the way, I agree with Boroer's point about the so-called "Feedbacks" and cutting Spells out of the game. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Hey man I get it, I felt this way as well. I did not want multi classing as I have never been a fan and wanted to keep Vancian Casters but I was in the minority with you so we lost. I still think this will be a great game we will just have to shift. It is a great game world and I will play by what rules are implemented. They have threw out nothing. The last time I checked PoE1 is still in pretty good state. It seems AssCreed way of releasing the same game over and over again is desired by many. So 1.0 will be a bit of a mess. So what? They will release expansions, with time hopefully it will be better. Maybe in the end it will be better than PoE, maybe worse but at least it will be a bit different. A reason return to PoE and PoE2. I get what hes saying why go back when you have worked so hard to have a pretty good system. All the classes are either good or great and the small less powerful cross class talents were good enough for me. I would have just improved the crappy ones. I think POE 2 would have been great with the new look, location and companions with relatively the same combat just maybe new spells and abilities but hey I was out voted by you guys so I will play by your rules!
  15. PS did not to come off as aggressive or elitist to the OP, I can get a little passionate when I do not agree (Kind Wayfarers! lol). I have a losing record against the AI on Triple Crown Runs 5 wins and about 15 Losses (maybe more) so am in no way trying to belittle the OP. I just think if he/she is not willing to lose a character after one death they can just play the game like its intended. Why do you need some crazy damage mode???
  16. Only a rare few truly extraordinary titles allow sufficient freedom for a player to elect their own experience and still be satisfying without relying upon combat as filler content. To my understanding and maybe I am wrong here an ARPG is a game that has a type of level up system but when you swing your sword, block, chuck a fireball or fire an arrow it will hit its intended target as long as you aim properly there is no dice roll for attacks or skill checks. Am I wrong here?
  17. Man this posts is a waste of time. Seems like this guy is crying about his home life on the forums. Play on normal or story time and you are good. What’s the issue? I have done every single one of my play throughs except the first as a Triple Crown run, I am the minorty, I also have an adult life and responsibilities to my dog, mortgage and wife so I have no idea what you are on about. This game is catered to the casual by playing on any other difficulty then PoTD and trial of iron, hell its got a story mode.
  18. Kana is a chanter Oh ya forgot about ranged so you SI might not work
  19. Well barbs have 25 starting ACC which is not bad at all. Only Carnage starts off with 15 which is really bad and can lead to the false impression that a barb can never hit stuff. Luckily it gets +1ACC per char level. With Accurate Carnage it will be on par with your base accuracy at lvl 5 and after that be even better. So in theory (letting buffs like Disciplines Barrage aside) barb's Carnge will have better auto-attack ACC than a fighter. What's really abysmal about barbs is their deflection (for a dedicated melee class). Thanks for the correction my friend. I meant to say their CARNAGE ACC is bad early game but ya it gets fixed. Yes their deflection does suck hard early game lol
  20. Ya if its non caster you are looking at go no further than these two. Chanter: with Dragon Thrashed, Dragon Wailed. This character could have a DEX attribute score of -1000000000 and it would not matter cause Chants are not affected by DEX so put him or her in some plate, get a hatchet and all defensive talents and literally sit there and melt everything in sight while the enemy cant touch you cause of all of your talents are defensive lol Negative to the Chanter: You have to wait until level 9. Leveling 1 through 8 just go all defense and summon your ghost/grab the paralyze invocation and use those as needed until level 9. Barbarian: What Galad said Carnage obviously and Heart of Fury will take a tight group of enemies and turn them into ground beef (its better with a Duel Wielder or Sword and Board bashing shield), Negative to Barbarian: Early game has ABYSMAL ACC and Carnage has an ACC malus so ya there is that but there are ways around it in solo and obviously with a party (ACC buffs/talents!) Honorable Mention: Paladin with Sacred Immolation you have to wait until 13 but once you have Sacred Immolation you will be a death machine and Fighter with Charge although its a Line and not a circle type AOE but man it hits like a TRUCK (unless crush immune).
  21. If you follow this formula you will win all fights in the game and the Temple can be done at level 4 on any difficulty. Raise your accuracy while reducing the enemies defenses and accuracy, attack the lowered defenses. The enemy has four types of defenses (so do you) Deflection, Fortitude, Reflex and Will. Use abilities like a Fighters knock down and Disciplined Barrage, a Priests upgraded Holy Radiance (called Inspired Radiance when you level up, gives a +10 Accuracy bonus for a period), a priests Spell Blessing, A Paladins Zealous Focus,a Wizards Eldritch Aim, Wizard Curse of Blackened Sight, Druid Sunbeam for blinding in order to raise your accuracy and reduce enemy defenses. In these temporary windows you must fit your damage and kill the enemy. If you do not, you will be at the mercy of the dice and random number generators.
