  1. It is best to remove the companions and your created hirelings when at the stronghold. They remain there and can be put back in the party as often as you want. You can use the party management button on the stronghold interface or do so when leaving Caed Nua.
  2. Is your thief a hireling or your player character? If a hireling there is a known bug from early on that hirelings cannot open chests and doors or disarm traps. If your thief is your player character that you created at the start of the game was it able to open things when you first got to Gilded Vale?
  3. She doesn't discuss it if you pass a skill check and tell her that you're there on behalf of Raedric. If you choose that option, you can't initiate a dialogue with her afterwards. True, she wouldn't want to lose favor with Raedric by having you kill his priest in that case. She would assume you would report her if she brought up the subject since she believes he sent you.
  4. Maybe he is close enough that when you reach out to the Dwarf's soul you pick up his soul and he answers from the spirit world. It would be a riot if he said 19.
  5. It is most advisable to raise the mechanics skill of one of the companions or your player character only. Hired companions in previous versions could not open locks and disarm traps and that still seems to be the case with the latest patch for some of us.
  6. Did you go East through Black Meadows and exit on the East side? That should have put you on the bridge directly in front of Caed Nua's entrance. If you already killed Maerwald and took possession of Caed Nua did you repair the Eastern Barbican and go through it to Woodend Plains? If you did then you can try clicking on Woodend Plains and exiting north to get to the Eastern Barbican entrance.
  7. IIRC the notes on the last patch said something about previous saved games not being in the same format and that they will be converted for version 1.05. Is it possible the conversion goofed and your saved games didn't get fixed?
  8. Are you clicking on the enemy toons or on the circle at their feet? If you click on the circle and it changes to a sort of X then it indicates attack that toon. Clicking on the toon usually passes the click to the ground behind the toon and the character will walk to that spot; after clicking you can pause and check if the circle has changed to the X form.
  9. I have my party hang back and have my tank sneak up to bow range. After he shoots he runs back to the party. By the time the enemy gets close to my [party my chanter usually has one or two phrases chanted so I can invoke/summon rather quickly. Can't do this in all areas as some maps are fairly tight but it works in about 75% of the maps.
  10. Okay, I rechecked this posting and found some errors again. Seems my blood shot weary eyes wandered into the wrong lines when I typed this that night. See this file for the final corrected version. Enchant POE.doc OOPS! Left off one: Troll & Forest Troll - pierce slash burn corrode
  11. The doors in the temple ruins in Dyrford are level 12 mechanics skill and require keys if your level is less than that. One of the inns, Brackenbury I think, has a room that gives +2 mechanics if you want to go there then return to the ruins.
  12. Actually, if you go into the dungeon area through the sewer grate instead of climbing the vines, when you get to Osyra she does discuss getting rid of Nedmar. Also, if you have not killed Nedmar after you use the vine route first Osyra will have the get rid of him dialogue also. Seems that if you kill him before talking to her then the dialogue option doesn't occur.
  13. I have had success with setting the game speed to fast (D on keyboard) then running as soon as I trip the trap. I usually get only some damage as I get out of range quickly.
  14. Okay, I finally got my original post revised and reformatted. Hope it helps. Originally posted by rn_archl0rd: It depends on the type of enemy you are wanting to hurt the most. If you check the bestiary in your journal it will show what type of damage is least effective so you choose the damage type that is most effective against that enemy. 15. If you want to add extra challenge also choose to play expert on normal or hard. You will be scratching your head trying to figure out spell distances and AOEs as well as getting no hand holding from the game.
  16. Your hirelings get paid every five days. One second after they get paid they are unpaid for the next five days. The notation makes sense if you consider that you are paying them for the time already spent guarding the stronghold and not the time they will spend.
  17. They have a slight damage reduction to fire. I only listed the effects that have no damage reduction whatsoever to keep the list short. That is why I mentioned checking the bestiary. Otherwise I would have to decide on an arbitrary threshold as to damage reductione. g. <5, <10. If you all are willing all of you can add to the list those with very low damage reduction on this thread.
  18. Definite bad bug but you can try this workaround to keep playing. Before quitting the game save one last time then alt+tab out. Create a "saved games" folder on your desktop and copy your saved games from above noted directory to it. Quit the game. If your saved games are gone when you start the game next time you can reload them from your desktop folder into the POE saved games folder. It is a few minutes work but can save your bacon after hours of play time gone.
  19. For some reason the game records those white stelgaers as attacking you even though they are still in the fog of war if you approach from the west. When you talk to the dead stelgaer's spirit it states that he was with his pride which happen to be the black and white stelgaers. So it seems he is still with his pride in death whom you have to defeat to end combat. This only happens if you do not pick up the quest in Hearthsong first.
  20. Had the same thing happen to me with Win 7 64. Had to go to taskmaster and end the game. Also quit steam client. Then reloaded steam client and hit play. Worked fine after that.
  21. If you killed Nedmar you can tell that to Osyra then kill her to get the key to the cell. Giacco is her prisoner and will probably be used for one of her experiments; therefore she is not about to set him free. If you have at least mechanics 4 your party can pick the lock and then tell Nedmar he is free. Then you can kill Osyra after killing Nedmar to maximize experience gained. If you need it, the inn in Gilded Vale has a room that gives +1 mechanics when resting.

  23. Go to your "saved games" folder and right click on it. Click on "properties" on the context menu. Then click on the "location" tag. after inputting a new drive/path click on "move". This will move all your saved games from all games that use that folder to the location of your choosing. There is no way to move the Pillar of Eternity saved game folder by itself; it's an all or nothing move.
