  1. I recently played it again. I remember having good memories of it, it was my first PSX Final Fantasy. The game is pretty damn bad... The drawing and junction system really encourages nothing but mashing X and using Summons in every battle for the entire game. I mean, why bother choosing different magic to attack with if mashing X does more damage? Not to mention that using magic makes your characters weaker. The scaling system was stupid. Since 90% of the time, Squall will get the final strike (since he is so much more powerful then the other characters and is always in the group) all the other characters will be much weaker in comparison to not only him, but to the monsters. That leads to Squall growing more powerful, while the other continue to weaken. The characters are pretty typica. The story is fairly weak and if that wasn't enough it falls apart towards the end. I was much more happy thinking that it was a good game... Anyways, I'll pick up FFXII sometime after it comes out. Lots of other stuff I'd rather play first.
  2. How is it? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LucasArts adventure + Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne + Devil May Cry = Devil Summoner. It's pretty damn good.
  3. Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner.
  4. You'll post your impressions then, ok? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm afraid I can't give you much information. I didn't have much time to play it and now I have Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria. I won't be playing anything for a long time (I'll finish this and most likely run through VP1 again aftewards).
  5. http://wii.ign.com/articles/733/733951p1.html I imagine he is talking about shaders/lighting and such. Xbox/Wii shots definitely do not look the same...
  6. You should compare Far Cry shots... Xbox definitely looks better.
  7. Meh... Paying $50 for Gamecube so I can play the new Zelda game (and any other GC gems I missed) seems far more reasonable .
  8. Finished up Rule of Rose. It's not a game I can easily recommend... The story hits hard though and it left me completely heart broken. I'll probably start Okami tomorrow.
  9. Llyranor... is that you posting at GAF? Video looks great. Word is, it's hitting the PS3 as well.
  10. It's suppose to be Sony's Zelda-killer... better late then never.
  11. Just finished Xenosaga Episode III. A perfect conclusion to wasted potential. :'( Not sure what to play now... I'm temped to play Xenogears now, but if I start that I know I won't be able to stop until I finish (game is around 70 hours long).
  12. Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga share the same battle system. Both are incredible combat intensive. The shear amount of battles you will have to face through the course of the game if absolutely insane. However, the battle system is incredibly engaging. If you decide to try either one of them, don
  13. Shin Megami Tensei was the first Megaten game done by Atlus. It pretty much established key gameplay mechanics that would appear throught the series until the end of time. Persona is a spin-off. Nocturne is Shin Megami Tensei III (In the US title they ldidn't include the III since this is the first game we've gotten in the main series). Devil Summoner is another spin-off. As for the combat being different (I imagine you are talking about the newer titles), Nocturne uses a turn-base system (best turn base combat ever in my opinion) and Devil Summoner uses a semi real-time battle system (In the past, almost all the Megaten games shared a very similar battle system). In both games you have to recruit demons to survive. How they are similar to Persona... In Nocturne you have to talk to demons. The dialogue system isn't as... involved though, much more simplified. All of the Megaten games this generation have been incredibly different from their predecessors. There are four main game series. All of them are considered Megaten games. Shin Megami Tensei (I, II, If..., III:Nocturne) Persona (I, II, III). Devil Summoner (I, Soul Hackers, Kuzunoha Raidou). Digital Devil Saga (I, II). They are all different in the way they present their gameplay and story concepts. Shin Megami Tensei deals with the dark nature of religion and is always set in a post apocalyptic world. Persona deal with Jungian philosophy and it is always set in a modern setting. Devil Summoner deals with the dark nature of science and most of the games are set in a very cyber punk setting (the latest game is set in the 1920s). Digital Devil Saga can be called a trip into the heart of Hinduism... it is also set in a post apocalyptic world. Are they connected? I couldn
  14. Xenosaga Episode III: Also Sprach Zarathustra.
  15. Why do people ignore the fact that a $500 model exist? Fantastic games If you have friends to play with. Been playing a lot of Red Orchestra lately.
  16. I'd guess more a long the lines of "faking" it. Such as certain games using fake HDR... looks nice, but it's just not the same.

  18. Does Epiphany work for M$ or something? It seems like his only purposes is to praise the Xbox and talk smack about Sony.
  19. Taking a great from Digital Devil Saga II. Just got my hands on Deep Labyrinth. I don't give a F*** what reviewers think, the game is fun.
