  1. I'm just about done with Oblivion. Fun game to kill some time with, nothing I'd spend more then 30 hours on though. ... Back to waiting for Neverwinter Nights 2 to fill my CRPG needs.
  2. http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3149411 Found this if anyone was interested in learning a bit more about the Megami Tensei series.
  3. They are not directly connected. Just two stories that happen within the same world, no biggie.
  4. I wouldn't wait. Persona is a good game, but Persona 2 is something extremely special.
  5. http://1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3149468 And they keep trying... Hell, when is the last time a western style RPG was released over there?
  6. 6.3 were released quiet a bit before Oblivion, they aren't optimized for it. I'm sure 6.4 (which are due any time this month) will be though (for the latest series ATI cards most likely too..).
  7. So, do you recommend Dragon Quest VIII to noobs like me? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's nice that you are still trying to enjoy JRPGs. It's a good game, only thing that might turn you off very early in the game is how mindless the combat is for the first 7 or so hours (depending on how fast you get through the "Intro" sequences). Pretty much just attack spamming, even I almost gave up on the game at that point. After that though, the game is a solid experience (I myself am about half way through). I went in thinking that (DQVII sucked so bad). But it's hard to not like the characters. If you can enjoy a realistic FPS sure.
  8. There are difficulty levels in DDS/Nocturne... Hard and Harder. Let's hope the little success of DDS/Nocturne encourage them to release more SMT titles over here (Persona 3 above all else).
  9. I have too much on my plate at the moment... Console Magna Carta : Tears of Blood - Pretty generic story and characters so far. Gameplay is interesting... I don't think I will finish this one. Dragon Quest VIII - Great cast of characters and beautiful music. The plot is simple, but that doesn't hurt the game one bit. Stella Deus - Very interesting plot and cast of characters, reminds me so much of Final Fantasy Tactics. Persona I / II - Replaying them before the JP release of Persona 3. I don't think the game will make it to the states, so I'm getting ready to import. PC Oblivion - Still a good dungeon hack and slash game. Though my interest fades a bit each time I boot it up. Red Orchestra - A great, realistic FPS... Nuff' said. ~ Okay, I need to forget about online game shopping, it just gets me into problems.
  10. Atlus has tried to introduce their games to a wider audience... It's always the same old thing when they hit NA though... "Graphics aren't pretty enough and they are too hard." Hell, they actually felt they had to dumb down the difficulty level of Persona (PSone) and actually go as far as to censor out the entire Japanese race just to sell it in NA... DQVIII has always have had little to no following. Kinda surprised they released it knowing how poorly DQVII did over here. So yeah, can't really blame them for not trying a PC/Xbox version, it wouldn't sell most likely.
  11. Digital Devil Saga I & II were easily the best RPGs I had a chance to play during 05 (Yes, both games... They are incomplete without each other). Everything is done so well. The characters, the setting, the voice acting and music are just incredible. The gameplay is very reminiscent of SMT: Nocturne (which is easily the best TB combat I have ever played). Yes, that includes the incredibly high encounter rate (though not as high) and very unforgiving battle mechanics... the system rewards skill above all else. The characters are all beautiful and the story so damn good. It's about so much more... Seriously, there is so much depth. It's not for everyone like most SMT games however. ~ DQIII is a good game. The battle system is a bit simplistic, but still fun. The characters are very interesting and loveable. Story is simple, but it works well. The only real problem I have with the game is the amount of walking around.
  12. Yes, however Oblivion plays a lot better on ATI cards. There was a really good card comparison guide floating around... ( Can't seem to find the link) FX cards were at the bottom, most with unplayable frame-rates. Even my X800XL outperforms my buddies 7900... Something is terribly wrong with Oblivion...
  13. I'm sorry to say this, but take a quick look at the Official forums... Most people with FX cards are getting unplayable framerates, regardless of settings.
  14. Is this the only argument you have to justify your view? Anime artwork does not equal anime. Come on man, I expected more from you. Atleast say they are not your cup of tea.
  15. @ Craigboy2 What the hell is your point? Having the option to play all your older games on a single console is a fantastic feature. Imagine if you had to pull out your old Win 98 computer to play all those classic CRPGs, what a hassle don't you agree? Though it's not exactly the same, it can apply to consoles as well. I still have PS1 games I'm playing, but I certainly don't play them on my ancient console.
  16. Right, so I can play the exact kind of games I own on my PC... $600 is what I imagined... Considering I own a vast library of PS1/2 games, i'm buying it for sure.
  17. The first PS1 Tales of... Wasn't all that great. " EDIT - The one that made it to the US anyways, not the original remake.
  18. ToE for PSP? Good? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's a very good JRPG. Good story, good cast of character, very fun battle system and loads of things to do (one of my PS1 favs).
  19. I havnt been this eager to play a game since the last FF was released. I'm always in two minds about importing. On the one hand you get it that much faster. But on the other it dosnt give much incentive to make a specific version either. Wouldnt happen to know if this one has a lower encounter rate than Lucifers Call would you ? http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/produc...tal_devil_saga_ <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lower yes, but I found it much more annoying since the battle system is pretty basic... Not very interesting and it's more about being at the right level rather then player skill... In DDS/Nocturne you could get by with just having the right skill set/Demons and playing smart... Not so much in DQIII... In fact, the first 8 or so hours pretty much involve nothing but attack spamming... Made me really sad.
  20. I'm surprised how good DQVIII is. The story is still pretty generic, but the characters are very well done. It also has a fantastic music score too.
  21. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, I didn't say they forgot or didn't add the game to the list. They aren't showing it at E3 period... The game content is a bit too much for E3.
  22. Atlus isn't showing Persona 3 at E3...
  23. Im trying... I made the mistake of treating Oblivion like it was a real CRPG... I made a Sneaky, diplomatic spell caster... and well, towards level 20 almost everything I invested time in became useless.
  24. You're problem is with "level up!" in general, not with Oblivion's system. Oblivion, itself, isn't broken. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No... I think he is saying how he hates to manage what skill-ups he gets per level to get those good attribute gains at level up.
