A Jawa on stilts. The way he talks is essentially just a Jawa slowed down. Which suggests he (she?) is probably on something else as well...

There were times when I was a kid when that was true, or at least it was a common perception. Not sure how true it is now, given that so many games are released on both PC and console. Sierra made the Quest for Glory games, Origin (then EA) made the Ultima games. Both are quite old and tricky to get hold of now, but classics nonetheless.

TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress

There are dozens of mods for Kotor 1, and pages where you can download them. I haven't heard of any attempts by LucasArts to shut them down, although someone who was in contact with the modders could tell you more. Past evidence suggests that this mod project is safe. -
I haven't used any of the cards you mentioned, but I have the GeForce 5200FX 128Mb version. It runs Kotor 2 very well, decent graphics and no stability issues to mention. However, for most new games that come out, I'm running them with a lot of features turned off, and at 800x600 rather than higher resolutions. They're still good, but I don't think the card has much life left. So I would steer clear of the 64Mb Geforce, as it will likely struggle more, be limited to 640x480 resolutions, and become obsolete faster than my own.

Completely random, I believe. I don't even think that going darkside increases your chances, and I don't remember any shops having them. Just click on every container and corpse, and keep your fingers crossed.

Where the signature should be, there's a white box and the text 'Remote linking of images not allowed'. Is this what you intended? Otherwise, no, I can't see your image.

No, because it says 'Xbox' and not 'PC', so I can't play it. Is it really exclusively for the Xbox, or will it be like Fable, with a PC version released, just a long time later?

For the duration, but in what condition? Eternal youth or eternal decrepitude? And you mean, for ever and ever? Even into the grey death of the universe? Or just until the end of humanity?

I know what you mean, but in English the signs of the Zodiac have special words, e.g. Twin = Gemini, Lion = Leo etc. I thought of one! The Vietnamese for 'complicated' is phuc tap. So you could say the situation in Iraq now is phuc tap.

I thought Japan's was older. I can't think of any useless information to add right now. Does that mean that everything I know is useful?

TSL Restoration Project: Work in Progress

It looks fantastic. I'm really looking forward to it. At this rate, you might even beat the patch! I wonder... Has piecing all this together given you any new insight into when and why this material was cut? Is it closer to or further from being 'finished' than you originally thought? -
I was really hoping that all this millennial angst would tail off after the millennium.

It's level 15, I think. Have you met Visas, gained influence with her, and talked about her master? I think that's also a requirement. -
I doubt they intended anything. They just didn't care enough to do anything about it. The colonial administration doesn't engineer the crop failure, it just fails to act to save lives. Part of the colonial mindset is that the 'natives' are used to death and don't feel about it the same way 'we' do. Though thousands of deaths would be a terrible thing in England, in India it's somehow 'normal'.

You could try format c: and reinstall all your software. Seriously, if you have the time, it's worth doing. It improved the performance of quite a few games for me. I don't pretend to understand why, except that all kinds of things obviously install themselves while you're not looking. It also makes you think about what you have on your hard disk that you don't want to lose, and encourages good backup practice.

While India was under British colonial rule, it experienced regular famines every few years. Since India became an independent democracy, there hasn't been a single famine. Coincidence? I think not. Governments can't change the weather or geography, but they can choose to organise effective relief in hard times, if they wish. Had an equivalent poor harvest taken place in England, the government would have intervened to help people because their votes and goodwill might be important. The British government simply didn't care about the Irish 'peasants'. No modern liberal democracy has ever experienced a famine. It's one of the major arguments put forward for spreading democracy around the world. I hate to hear it twisted in mouths of neo-conservatives, though.

That's true for the majority of times I played, too. If you focus on combat feats, or balance combat with force or skills, your character is usually very strong. If, on the other hand, you're trying to create a sort of 'magic-user', heavily force focused, then combat is left weak and the force powers don't compensate at first. But they did later on, at least for me.

No it isn't. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The record of the World Bank in fighting poverty is patchy at best. Just to give an example, they went to Viet Nam and advised the government to grow more coffee for export, in order to earn dollars to invest. Problem was, they advised a dozen other countries to do exactly the same thing. The result was a massive global surplus of coffee, the price collapsed, the farmers sank further into poverty, the coffee multinationals didn't bother to reduce the prices for consumers, and hey presto, their profits soared. And now we have Paul Wolfowitz to contend with. Poland is not and never was a third world (developing) country. It was a second world country, and now is probably part of the first (developed) world.

At that level, I had much the same problem, and was worried. My character was really dependent on NPCs to make it through combat, and I knew there were parts of the game later on where you're on your own... All I can say is, the problem just gradually went away. As I gained levels, increased my wisdom with items and levelling up, they resisted less and less often, and by the end, no-one was resisting at all.

Short List of Good Story-Driven RPGs?
SteveThaiBinh replied to Plano Skywalker's topic in Computer and Console
The early adventure games, both graphic and text, played an enormous role in the development of stories in games, cRPGs and otherwise. Sierra was the largest single producer of adventure games, and King's Quest was their flagship series, so they did make an important contribution. The only King's Quest to feature combat was King's Quest VIII, probably the weakest of the whole series. The earlier ones were good, but very much intended for a 'family' audience. The Space Quest series was funnier, the Police Quest series more mature, and of course there's Leisure Suit Larry... The Quest for Glory series (originally called Hero's Quest) was a cRPG/adventure hybrid, still fondly remembered by some. If you want to try pure adventure games with great dialogue, great stories and no combat, there's a lot to choose from. I'd recommend you post that as a separate thread, though
