HEEEEEEEELP
Asbestos is an interesting one to write about because of the health implications and political controversies that surround it.

Discussing your least favorite planet
But if the bad guy doesn't blow up a planet, how can we be sure he's really evil? Revan and Kreia didn't blow up any planets, and they have whole threads discussing whether they were evil or not.

BloodRayne The Movie Review
(from IMDB) "User Comments: One of the worst films of 2000 (more) " That always bodes well. :D

BloodRayne The Movie Review
There was a Dungeons and Dragons movie? How come I've never heard of this? Was it based on the cartoon series? I used to like that a lot.

What are you listening to?
I think maybe. I'm listening to the BBC World Service right now, discussing the merits or otherwise of nuclear energy. I need to sort through my CD collection tomorrow (I tend to put things back in the wrong box :"> )

My Issues with KOTOR II
Of course, there's always the Telos Academy bug that was added by the patch. Shappy1010, take a look at the postmortem that Obsidian wrote about the game. They're pretty open about some of the mistakes they made, and I found it a very interesting read.

Cocaine
I don't think she's joking, but I don't think she's very representative either. It's all Tony Blair's fault. He reclassified cannabis as a less dangerous drug, and he's about to reverse that decision. He's just relaxed the law to allow 24-hour drinking in pubs while banning smoking in all public places. Today he announced that he's going to outlaw disrespect. Will he ban video games or make them compulsory? Someone in Downing Street is tossing a coin right now.

Xbox or PC
That would be admitting that the X-Box version has flaws, and so LucasArts might be obliged to get a patch (i.e. a replacement disk) out to everyone who registered the X-Box game. It wouldn't be half as much fun for us Kotor2-lovers if there weren't some Kotor2-haters to argue against. We even have a few Kotor3-haters, and that game hasn't even been made yet! Or has it? No.

Discussing your least favorite planet
The tide has turned, the rehabilitation of Peragus has begun! OK, it's not exactly my favourite planet either, but surely it doesn't deserve to be ranked worse than Malachor V?

IGN reports KOTOR III in development
It's a shame they didn't correct Obsidian's name from 'Obsidian Development' to 'Obsidian Entertainment' at the same time.

Discussing your least favorite planet
But doesn't anyone enjoy Peragus because the whole game lies before you? Peragus reminds me of the excited feeling I had when I first loaded up the game back in February last year. I get a buzz out of meeting Kreia and Atton for the first time, knowing how long the journey ahead will be. Plus you have some wonderful comic moments - naked Jedi, Coorta's death, T3!

IGN reports KOTOR III in development
From what I recall, PNJ is not an original IP, but an original take on an existing IP. As for dev presence, I would have interest in the future of a project on which I worked. Its only natural. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The devs are circling. If the rumour's true, they're worrying whether having it on their forums is violating their non-disclosure agreement with LucasArts who, one suspects, think of the Obs forums as a nest of vipers ripe for extermination. If the rumour's false, they're wondering whether they should deny it for like the fifteenth time already, and whether that would just lend more credibility to the rumour, as in 'The devs denied it, so it must be true!!! (w00t) (w00t) (w00t) '. I hope it's true.

IGN reports KOTOR III in development
Bastilla Skywalker is going to be furious that somebody beat her to it. This is still a rumour, of course, but it's the first (somewhat) credible rumour since - well - ever.

Neverwinter Nights 2 new screenshots!
Now that you mention it, so it does. Maybe it's a halfling-sized house? But even then... The potted plant by the fireplace not enough for ya? (Actually, is that a good place for a plant? Extreme heat is not good for most varieties, I think.) I like detail, too, if it can make each house feel different, as though it's been personalised at least a little. NWN suffered from huge, empty houses with long, empty corridors all the same.

Eagles view map, looking good!
That's pretty. It would make a nice cloth map like the old Ultima games had. I could pin it up on my wall and dream of dragons...

Crap, Imma have to change my username again!
It's the Obsidian forum motto. The funny thing is that when you see a law, for example, banning driving while blindfolded, you know the law was probably made because somebody was driving blindfolded.

Crap, Imma have to change my username again!
Isn't there some law that unenforcable laws are unconstitutional? If not, there should be. It is fascinating and amusing to see how the US manages its law-making, as follows: However, I suspect this sort of rubbish is happening in every democracy. The only difference in the US is that it happens in the open, not behind closed doors.

For those of you that use Windows...
Indeed, and that presumably includes the extra testers and engineers that would be needed to spot this kind of thing and fix it before the product was released.

New NWN2 Interview
How complex is the AI for the monsters in NWN? This might just be my thick-headedness, but I've never noticed any of them respond to the way the battle is going and fundamentally alter strategy. Is it much more complex than just 'Heal if HP less than 25%, recast protection shield if it's stripped, blast PC with random spells'? The AI for henchman is surely much more difficult to get right (not that they always did, really. ). I'm not a huge lover of combat in RPGs anyway, but I've never played an RPG that wouldn't benefit from fewer, more interesting fights. Atreides' idea of varied AI controlling the monsters sounds great to me. I'd also like to see sentient enemies run away or surrender when they're obviously losing. Then I could spare them. (Or not. )

About to start Blood Lines
Yes. Great storyline, interesting characters, fascinating setting, pretty good music.

What are you playing now?
I started it today, and it's great so far. That's what I call giving the fans what they want.

Take 2 Acquires Irrational Games
I thought Take-Two was having financial trouble because of the GTA 'scandal'. Nothing serious then.

Discussing your least favorite planet
Malachor hurts my eyes. It's the only planet where I used Master Speed all the time, because it's so dull, and all that blurring makes my eyes water. At least you can get it done pretty quickly, although then you have to do it again as the remote. Honestly, Obsidian, what were you thinking? Still not as bad as Dxun, though. The only fun thing that ever happened there was when I hit a cannok with my lightsaber and it exploded.

Pacifist Thing for HK
How foul. HK-47 was made to kill not love. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It would have been fun to see him interact with more NPCs with the pacifist chip in, Kreia in particular, or perhaps to have him lecture Vrook about Jedi violence. Then again, too much might have spoiled it - it is a very good joke.

About to start Blood Lines
I tend to install the unofficial patch out of habit, because I first played before there was an official patch and you needed the unofficial one just to complete the game. The latest versions of the unofficial patch do make a few changes that are about making the game logical and consistent in the patch-maker's eyes, but mostly it seems to be about fixing bugs and problems that are very rare or that you might not even notice. On balance, I would probably still download and install it, even for a first time game. I really must play again.
