Yes this is all over the international media....Gfted1 when Trump makes comments like he did how do you feel? I'm battling to understand why you guys aren't more annoyed and or concerned ? I know I tend to perhaps overact to these types of comments but surly someone on this forum from the USA must be a little ......exasperated ? To be honest I doubt anyone over here really cares, either about Trump (non supporters) or what the UK thinks of him (supporters) As far as banning or even severely restricting guns in other countries I'd be curious to see what ownership levels and such were like before the bans. I could see banning them here eventually succeeding but it would probably take a few generations of moves in that direction, essentially changing the culture. Severe restriction to gun ownership (like need to prove that you have practiced shooting for at least year before you can get permit to buy a light caliber gun and even longer if you want higher caliber gun) and return guns without licence without questions asked policy have dropped amount of guns owned by private citizens in Finland from estimated several millions to estimated bit over 1.5 million (which is about 1 private owned weapon per 4 citizens). This estimated change has happened in my life time. Although lots of the returned weapons without license were from time of second world war and years after it, so they have returned when their owners have died and their beneficiaries didn't know what to do with the weapons they inherited. It always makes me a bit sad when the populance of country opts out or severly restricts gun ownership, it simply brings a false sense of security since humans will never stop killing each other. I rather have a nation of strongly armed citizens than one where the ownership of guns is dependent on people secretly thinking that they are the masters of all. For example, the school shootings in Finland happened because of socially awkward and highly depressed boys didn't get the counsling when needed, not because of the availability of guns. As for Trump: the left better take notes. He's brash, shows strength, is unapologetic and taps into the issues that the establishment refuse to acknowledge; he simply has the leadership calibre that people are subconsiously attracted to. Find someone with those qualities and they will flock to you as well.

Well to be fair, neither Bush or Obama has caused any doom so far, just dumb things.

*sigh* Back in the first half of 20th century, the middle east and islam was seen as something foreign, mystic and exotic, often viewed as a curiousity of some ancient civilization. For example, such romantic mysticism inspired Frank Herbert to write "Dune", probably one of the best Sci-Fi-novels ever, and made movies like "Lawrence of Arabia" possible. But then those guys messed up at their PR department.

Yeah, there's no difference between a Norwegian and a Yemeni. Like there's no difference between Malay and Japanese people. Kidding aside, you probably meant 'Caucasian'.

The Finnish authorities have decided that parts of of Afghanistan and Iraq are to be considered safe (=places without Al-Qaeda and ISIS influence) and thus at least 2/3 of all asylum applicants will therefore be rejected. Furthermore, if the authorities declare a region as safe for return during the asylum process, then those applicants will be automatically sent back as well. At the same time there are talks about Sweden wanting to close down the Oresund-bridge to Denmark. It seems like the powers that be finally saw what was about to happen and acted accordingly, atleast in the nordic countries that is. Now, everything seems to point out to Turkey and what they will do....

FBI baffoonery aside, this article gives a good insight on the upbringing, mind and ideas of the radicalisation of a teenage jihadist. http://www.buzzfeed.com/nicolasmedinamora/did-the-fbi-transform-this-teenager-into-a-terrorist#.ggkpW1DW5

I don't think he needed that much convincing. He did go to Saudi Arabia to find a wife. So, totally not another Islamic terror attack huh? >BUT LETS NOT CONDEMN AN ENTIRE GROUP OVER Does it seem reasonable to condemn nearly 2 billion people every time there is an Islamic terror attack? Is that going to solve any problems within Islam? Is that going to stop Islamic terror attacks? Spoiler alert, it won't help. islam does have a problem. is not as if other religions is free o' terrorists and extremists, but in 2015, it requires a special kinda obtuseness to ignore how much more common extremism is in islam compared to the world's other major religions. in Gromnir's opinion, blame muslims as a whole is a mistake, but there is a correlation worthy o' inspection. our personal opinion is that poverty, lack o' education, denial o' basic human freedoms and geography is the primary causes o' prevalence o' extremism, but when the terrorists is quoting from their holy book as justifications for their murders and rapes, it is understandable that people will be seeing a connection. there IS a correlation. point out branch davidians in texas or jonestown in guyana as examples o' christian nutters willing to shed copious blood in the name o' religion only highlights the problem that islam has. christian extremism is far more rare, and people is being reasonable when they question why is so much more common with islam. what makes matters worse is when we hear from s'posed moderate muslims and we is confronted with their ignorance. ignorant regarding personal freedoms in the west. spout anti-semitic nonsense while decrying misunderstandings o' islam. link to conspiracy nutters as sources o' proof o' western evils or angelic islam? many o' the stereotypes we is told don't actual exist and is creations o' the media is validated for us, so... am thinking it is right to not blame islam, 'cause actual problems is far more simple, but more pervasive and insidious. however, am thinking we does a disservice to truth if we do not at least question the obvious and disproportionate correlation 'tween islam and violence when compared to other major religions. the discussion should occur, but far too often in the west o' 2015, issues o' race and religion and even sex is too sensitive to be having frank and open discussions. inability to discuss like rational folks for fear o' causing "disharmony" results in further polarization o' beliefs. so, what happens now? on almost same day obama tells folks that there is no credible threat from isis to americans in america, we got a mass shooting wherein at least one killer is posting her allegiance to isis via social media. do we have open discussions and try to figure out why this tragedy happened in southern ca as 'posed to southern lebanon, or do we refuse debate, thereby contributing to increased polarization and distrust? a week ago, a muslim in so cal shouting 'bout US support o' israel or continued presence o' american troops in the middle east woulda' gotten little reaction from most listeners. today? if even 5% o' listeners is more suspicious o' their muslim neighbors, that is a huge number given total populations we is talking 'bout. hurl is a teacher o' middle school students, so am not expecting him to look for deep insights from his young students, but we has seen recent that it is difficult for teachers to have open discussions with students regarding matters o' race, sex and religion. teachers need be extreme careful not to offend. hurl is aware o' the student teacher who were chastised recently for asking students to create propaganda posters that support terror? virtual every news agency and pundit opined that it were a bad idea to do such a thing. am understanding why doing such a thing in this political climate is bad, but were the lesson bad? teacher wrong? show kids propoganda posters from ww1 and ww2 and a dozen other conflicts. have discussions 'bout the power and dangers o' propaganda. ask students to write a paper on propaganda following a lesson on such would raise no eyebrows, 'but 'cause young teacher tries a more creative exercise, he/she were chastised publicly... nationally. so, we stay silent. in effort not to offend, we ironically increase polarization o' belief. in an effort to protect women and native americans and sikhs (is sikhs plural o' sikh... doesn't sound right) we discourage folks to speak that which might offend. those compelled to stay silent 'cause o' social stigma are deprived o' the opportunity to change. "Those who won our independence by revolution were not cowards. They did not fear political change. They did not exalt order at the cost of liberty. To courageous, self-reliant men, with confidence in the power of free and fearless reasoning applied through the processes of popular government, no danger flowing from speech can be deemed clear and present, unless the incidence of the evil apprehended is so imminent that it may befall before there is opportunity for full discussion. If there be time to expose through discussion the falsehood and fallacies, to avert the evil by the processes of education, the remedy to be applied is more speech, not enforced silence." we got real free speech here in the US. however, the social pressures we willingly impose on ourselves is a far more immediate threat to truth and education than is the legal burdens. admitted, those social limits is not necessarily a bad thing. is the guys aspergers who cannot self censor, yes? even so, the current political and social climate is such that far too many topics is functional verboten. so, yeah, we agree that islam is not at fault, but we do believe that the frequent (not necessarily hurl) knee-jerk defense o' every religious and ethnic group is equal harmful. far too often the suggestion that islam or the arab world has a problem is met with accusations o' racism or bigotry. there is a correlation. discuss. if we don't educate now, we will only increase fear and polarization. HA! Good Fun! Throwing some gasoline to Gromnir's fire..... From what we can see is that in regions in Asia such as The Philippines and Thailand, it is local issue of minority muslims wanting to live in separate societies with their own laws. In Europe, like in Albania, Bosnia and Kosovo (and it is brewing in The former Jugoslav Republic of Macedonia) it is more a cultural thing, as like minded people wanting a place of their own with their peers, but without separate laws in practice compared to neighbouring countries. In Sub-Saharan Africa it's simply pure tribal brutality no matter what religion you adhere to, Islam is just one of many. All while in middle east it is a matter of re-establish a caliphate and out-islaming one another. The common thread, while manifested differently in different regions due to local culture and ethnicity, is that it seeks to separate if it is a minority and dominate if it is in majority and that pretty much colludes with the western idea of freedom of association and social mobility. This has to be allowed to openly discussed and debated on how that can have anything to do within western society. While Islam in itself is not the culprit, it is as i said before, it is working as a magnet for people with violent, bigoted and sadistic tendencies with it's message of submission, justified warfare, acceptance of death for apostacy and apologetical view of slavery. That has to be openly discussed and debated on how it can have anything to do within western society. Note that i base this on the main two branches, Sunni and Shia. There's also Sufi, which is i think the only possible version of Islam that works with the modern world, as it is about meditation, dancing and aspiring to be closer to God. They reject Jihad, Taqiya, and don't see Muhammed's life as anything to aspire to when it came to worldly matters, which pretty much throws the multiple wives, slavery and warfare out of the window. Kinda like hippies really. This kind of Islam needs to be promoted IMO. That being said, this is based on Islam in modern times. there's some interesting moments in its history. For example, the black stone of Kaaba in Mecca was once stoled by a sect of militant vegetarians, called the "The Qarmatians" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kaaba

Nononono, it's because the dark ages never existed, and we have been in constant progression instead. Our time is a falsification, we actually live in the year 1718. http://www.todayifoundout.com/index.php/2013/12/time-go-phantom-time-hypothesis/ Since i cannot take this thread seriously, i'm having some fun instead.

Implying that knowing the Bible passages in and out is what constitutes the western world. Stop projecting that knowing the scripture line to line (in your case, the Quran) is what makes a civilization. Your view of society is build on a very unsolid foundation.

It will continue until the following happens: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Defenestrations_of_Prague I still like to see a peaceful solution though.

What we are seeing is the first steps of removing the Schengen agreement, and taking a different approach for cooperation instead.

our press is pretty good about getting access. in any event, the apartment were made safe, evidence were already collected, and no doubt every inch o' the place were photographed by multiple law enforcement agencies. the shootings didn't occur in the apartment, and the suspects is not around to complain 'bout press access, yes? am not particular shocked. with all the conspiracy nutters running amok and given the new distrust o' law enforcement, there i no doubt a desire to ere on the side o' transparency. HA! Good Fun! I was going for the angle of the press interrupting a place where there's an ongoing investigation, meaning the legality of the whole thing. But if you say that it is modus operandi there, fair enough. I expected those kinds of things to take weeks though.

Errr http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3345982/Party-massacre-wife-pledged-allegiance-ISIS-Facebook-attack-husband-killed-14.html Apparently CNN and MSNBC were allowed into the attackers apartment already, photos galore. I dunno about California Police, but isn't that a little quick? Shouldn't it be closed due to investigation? Paging Gromnir & Hurlie for info.

About a month ago an elderly woman collapsed on the street. I rushed out to help her and my friend called the ambulance. I tried to put her in the recommended position taught in First Aid-class, but she was too proud and would have none of that, so suggested that i would lift her up, put my arm around her and she could lean on me instead. She agreed that it was much more dignified. The ambulance crew later checked her out and it seemed like she was suffering from dehydration, apparently elderly people do not feel thirst the same way as younger people do and usually drink only when eating out of habit. She couldn't remember the last time she have had a glass of water, so figures. She thanked me and my friend for our help and we all went on our separate ways. It was a good day. Moral of the story? Treat your elderly with dignity.- 14 replies

Ontopic, one heated debate was the triggering point of the shooting? Well, according to Time of Israel it might have been: http://www.timesofisrael.com/jewish-victim-of-california-attack-had-argued-with-shooter-about-islam/

Gee, I wonder why. Is crypto-fascism and transphobia a turnoff with Finnish girls? What the **** is the matter with you? Do you also scold mothers while burying their children that they should stop praying because there is no God? Or do you dance around cripples who are in wheelchairs asking them to race you? But hey, if my failings in relationships makes you happy with glee, then you're welcome. Something something thicker skin, people on the internet are way too sensitive, I'm speaking Truth to Power etc. etc.? No, but seriously, it sounds like your life is not going too well at the moment, and I can't help but wonder whether your increasing wingnuttery is the cause or the effect of these troubles. You haven't been visiting any MRA blogs lately, have you? Nah, i've been the liberal one in the past relationships, but thanks for your consideration. Tell me, is it a hungarian thing to laugh about other people's misfortunes? If that's the case, then we might be on to something if we extrapolate it to the actions of Mr. Farooq: It is simply a such inconcievably mean act for Saudis to be tricked to eat pork that they go ballistic? That would certainly explain why they seemly abandoned their previous plan for terror-attack and just thought "That was the last straw. Lets do it here, now". Triggering ham indeed. //EDIT: I thought that your comment was weird and you think my comment back was tasteless. We're are just talking past each other at this point. Lets just move on.
