  1. I copy and pasted off a forum, sue me <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No worries, the pedantic tech-head inside of me crawled out, spat some venom, and then crawled back
  2. That's 512 megabit of memory.
  3. It's already happening, after praising the HDD as a 'key-feature' of the original Xbox and Xbox360 until this very day, more fanboys(slashdot and teamxbox.com) are going with "It wasn't really necessary anyway"-argument (Not you Drakron ).
  4. In terms of gameplay, good sound is a requirement. The music however, is almost as important as the story. A good soundtrack can elivate the atmosphere in a game tremendously, if done right. Good examples: - Unreal 1 - Deus Ex - KotOR 1 & 2 - Baten Kaitos - The Final Fantasy-series
  5. Heh, MS are copying Sony's tactics in such a degree that it isn't even funny anymore. Since neither has a "must-have launch-title", i'll settle for some retro-feel with playing Final Fantasy VI on the Revolution when it arrives. (Imagine that, buying a console for playing old games says alot about the launch titles for the next generation)
  6. For me, combat isn't a "make it or break it" feature in an rpg, the story is.
  7. Didn't Sony acquire OpenGL and nVidia's CG-language in order to make it a bit easier to program the PS3? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The reason people are concerned about the difficulty of programing for the ps3 doesnt realy have that much to do with the graphics system. It has to do with the cell processor being a rather extreem multicore, so to use the system fully you have to write multithreaded programs. Programing multithreaded aplications is a bit harder then singlethreaded. But the big concern is that debuging multithreaded aplications is MUCH harder. EDIT: Of course the xbox 360 is also a multicore cpu, but it has fewer cores and they are all identical so it sould be a bit easier to code for. At least in theory... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hopefully the developers don't have to spend 90% if their time optimizing their code for a multithreaded-framework. In theory, both MS and Sony should provide a SDK with the dev-kits(MS has XNA IIRC) in order easy some of the developer's headaches.
  8. I didn't mean in terms of buying it, more like they're added support for the OpenGL API.
  9. Didn't Sony acquire OpenGL and nVidia's CG-language in order to make it a bit easier to program the PS3?
  10. Remember people, Halo was released back in 2001. Everything, except the leveldesign, was very well executed (No endboss, great open battles, incredible A.I, graphics, jada jada jada). Halo 2 wasn't as good as Halo 1 though. As a sidenote, i never got into HL back in 1998. The graphics were meh, the soundtrack was awful, the story a pop-corn action-flick, the gameplay was on rails (but solid nevertheless), and horrible end-boss and end-levels. I liked Unreal 1 much more.
  11. Still, Nintendo managed to do a profit, while Sony and Microsoft suffered losses in the 100 million-class.
  12. Well, I managed to get the game running. Add the mods as per instructions, they are irrelevant to the performance. The key (for my ATi Mobility Fire GL T2 128MB video card driven system) was to include the safe_texture_manager to the end of the cam.cfg file, rather than the user.cfg file; then it worked seemlessly. (I must say it is very annoying because there are far too many little chimps; they're taking over the ship!) It is a great game. I can see the direct lineage to Deus Ex. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just wait until you meet S.H.O.D.A.N., excellent presentation. "Join us, glory to the many"
  13. ...about just as successful as psychonauts was.
  14. The "Hell" level was quite spooky in all it's surrealness. Haven't tried the expansion and it sounds like I might just wait for PK2 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The hell level was an example of great artistic integrity, simply excellent IMO.
  15. According to the thread at the team-gizka forum, 12 people have submitted their VO. Hopefully, one of them are good enough to use in the restoration project.
  16. Devs/Mods going to oblivion after discussing the music/movies-patch, seems like this patch was never intended by Lucasarts to be released. Seems like a KOTORgate! <_<
  17. Already played System Shock 2(One of the best games ever, right up there with Deus Ex), but thanks for linking the original System Shock, i've been looking for that one for ages
  18. I didn't vote, since there's no System Shock 1 and System Shock 2.
  19. Maybe the love story itself was done right in the context of the story, but it didn't stop me from loathing Squall
  20. Microsoft loses money for every Xbox sold, that should be proof enough. However, they gain money from their games (IE Halo 2 made 125 million in revenue the first weekend). Here.
  21. It's not over yet. There's still some major encounters that still need to be resolved. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Are there any more anime versions of it in the works? I'm too lazy to try the comics.
