Boko Haram and the kidnpping of the school girls
So they were abducted to be sold as wives? Even if each and one of them were to be rescued, the underlying problem exists: There's a market for buying wives in Nigeria and Africa. I would not suggest not only military intervention for this, also a cultural/ideological one.

Ongoing discussion of Ukraine
What i have learned from these threads about the Ukraine, is that the truth died long ago. If things escalate, the only neutral solution is U.N. troops. Any EU or Russian 'peace-keepers' will only add further butthurt.

Dragon Age: Inquistion
The idea of a "tank" that "taunts" enemies (always wondered how you'd taunt something undead, "Hey you, zombie dude! Yer mom!") but does about zero damage is a (mostly) MMO mechanic that's been bleeding through to single player games. "Yo, Zombie-bro! Looky here! BRAAAAAAAINS!!!"

"Maidan" in US
It depends on what you talk about. If we talk about jewlizards from Alpha Centauri manipulating humans to become cattle for the great lord Athe, then i would agree. But if it is the case of a bunch of guys from the private sector suddenly working as public officials for regulating the very same industry that they came from. Then yeah, then it is a conspiracy by default.

Movies you've seen recently
Tarkovsky is up there with Bergman, Kubrick and Kurosawa. Anyone interested in movies as an art form should watch Solyaris and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. They pretty much changed my outlook on the human condition on profound level. Now, what kind movies does that? Drowsy: I have actually seen El Dia da la Bestia. I expected a horror-movie, but having a priest trying to ressurect Satan by trying to committ simple thievery and listening to Heavy Metal set a completely different tone to it

Games like Unreal 1?
For me, it was the other way around. I played Unreal first, and HL afterwards and was hugely dissapointed due to the hype telling me that nothing was close to its magnificance. I still haven't to this day understood the appeal with it. Azdeus: STALKER was pretty good actually, but too same-y with it's post-apocalyptic setting. But i agree that it was a step into the right direction.

Games like Unreal 1?
Yeah, i forgot to say that i have played Far Cry 1, System Shock 2, Half-Life 1 & 2, Doom 1-3 and Halo: CE. Of those, System Shock 2, while being awesome as ****, was not really the same experience, more like a horror-survival. The Half-Life-series were a complete dissapointment, especially since everyone said that they were like 4000 times better than Unreal....eh no, not by a longshot. The closest experience is the original Halo, i would say. Great soundtrack, sense of mystery, great A.I. and fun gameplay in an unknown world that you want to escape from. Judging by your comments, It seems like there are no new games in the last 10 years that have remotely captured the same feel. Meh

Lady traps murderer by offering cigarette
There's some quintessential british about her behaviour. It's like that story about those soldiers of the Royal Navy that survived a submarine attack near Ireland. Did they complain about most of their friends being dead? no. Did they swear vengeance on all germans because of the attack? No. Instead they stated to each that the raft that they were paddling with was less than ideal to use, the wind being quite chilly and will take quite a while to get to the shore.

The Hunt (2012) Incredible movie. The amount of tension left me emotionally drained.

Games like Unreal 1?
I was digging through my old games library and found myself playing this gem again for the Xth time. While i do appriciate the experience again with the graphics, soundtrack and the sense of exploring an unknown and varied world, i couldn't help wondering if there is any FPS that has captured the same feel and atmoshere as this one did. (I played it with the latest patch and the high-resolution textures installed) Are there any similar ones, or was this game just a fluke among vast wasteland of FPS games? And no, Unreal 2 doesn't count, that game failed miserably on almost every level.

I can recommend going to Austin and take a dip into Barton Springs. Very refreshing when it is 104 degrees. I can also recommend spending a few days in Galveston. Dallas seemed nice. Avoid Houston though, it has to be the most soulless place in the US that i have visited.

Several times. The best that i had was in Waco of all places. In Amarillo, i tried 1/4-version of the legendary 72oz-steak. I can recommend that place just for the place itself. They had a house-band that played songs after customers wishes, and when someone said "Country Roads by John Denver", the whole place started to sing along. It was the most Americana-moment that i have had to date.
