Actually, its quite clear. Only embryonic stem cells possess the pluripotentiality necessary for current research to continue. All others are lacking in one way or another. And you are right, they can't talk. In fact, they have no thought whatsoever. As such, can they truly be considered independent beings? Or life at all, for that matter. In my opinion, life begins the moment one becomes aware. Im sure this happens at some point within the womb, and that the memories are blocked out so as not to traumatize us. That said, most of the embryos used for stem cell research would never have reached that threshold, being stored continuously until used for research or disposed. There was never the chance for life, because development was halted. How can you object to an embryo that would not have the opportunity for life being used to save the existence of others? Even if you believe they have souls (which you seem not to), would not being used in such a way honor them? After all, is not helping another the highest achievement?

The problem I see with this is someone is always going to object as soon as a religion other than Christianity is introduced. "I have a right to raise my children without them being exposed to that," they would say, as if there were something wrong with other faiths. And the few who would stand up for the other religions would be bludgeoned back down by the cruel ignorance and bigotry of their fellows. And you neglect the fact that it was religion that caused most of that mentality. Why were women and Africans considered inferior? Because man was God's chosen. You can't object to that. The Bible says so. They dont believe in God, so they are heathens. They believe in other beings, so they are pagans. They arent like us, thus they arent "true humans" and as such we can do what we please with them. This is the viewpoint you blame on upbringing, forgetting that in most cases religion is a major factor of child-rearing. You obviously do believe what you say, or you would not defend it so vigorously. The difficulty with (some) religious leaders is that they put religion ahead of the good of the people. If something offends them, it must offend God as well, for they were raised in his teachings. And the fact is, in this country, they refer to the Christian God. No consideration, except as an afterthought to appear "politically correct," is given to other faiths, simply because what is different from me, must be wrong.

Well, sorry for the double post, but I doubt anyone else would see this otherwise. I have been slightly busy today, but you may expect an update tonight at some time. Hope you enjoy it.

Nah, I already knew the gist from the preview from last week. As to why I had to wait so long to get it, Im not exactly what you'd call "British." As such, I am forced to alternative means.

Useless Information: Shampoo is better. I go on first and clean the hair. Conditioner is better. I leave the hair silky and smooth. Oh, really, fool? Really. .... Stop looking at me, swan!

Your proposition is acceptable and reciprocated.

Take your time. Just not too much time. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean? (w00t)

Hooray! Another hour to Dr. Who! :D

I thank you all for contributing. As for the characters, their names all have a special meaning, relevant to their personality or role. Ex: Ferris means Iron Worker. I shall give that advice credence. Expect more to be posted tomorrow. I understand your reluctance to read my other thread. Im not sure I would read the whole thing had the roles been reversed. I only ask that you try and in the future I will attempt to divide the chapters into several small posts.

By taking comments out of context, one can prove almost anything. You twist arguments by blathering on about "the secret wives" when all Reveilled said is: I could give my spouse power of attorney and it shouldnt matter to anyone else if I and a partner get married. Im paraphrasing, of course. Your "logical" response to this is that if no one knew about the wife, it would cause problems between her and the family. Do you have any idea how outlandish that is? And I posted: due to your utter failure to address the issue at hand. Only by completely ignoring the commentary of the other person where it does not suit you can your position have any validity.

Well, so as to not confuse myself or others, I have plans to introduce another of my writing projects here, instead of in my other thread. This one is purely fantasy, based on the principle that our perceptions warp our reality. Also, a sort of reverse good vs. evil is somewhat prevalent (youll see what I mean). Ive only written a small bit so I will share what I have. If anyone wishes to have me continue, please say so. The Price We Pay Prologue Introduction Despite its transitory nature, Time rules us all. We bow to its every whim and crumble beneath its oppressive weight. Why? Because we realize what lies at its end. Death. For everything and everyone. Frightened by this realization, we seek any method to stave off a conclusion. Once, man succeeded in conquering the finality of time, and corrupted by this power, accomplished only further devastation. From this we take a single lesson: humanity, although split into many component pieces, is an animal, large in size, yet simple in nature. Birthed through destruction and suckled on consumption, it proves unable to deny the qualities by which it was created, the inherited behaviors that govern all its activity. Only one trait separates humans from among all other beings: the freedom to choose this savage destiny, or a path of higher motivation. Such was the course Paimon chose.

Perhaps you should check the definition again. twist v. twist

Hint: Dont believe much of what Morte says.
-
Yet again you twist and squirm.
-
The Mimir? Um...I believe it was Morte.

You're right. I went too far and I apologize. However, I blame it upon my rage at seeing your utter disregard for reality and reason. The main thing I object to is how you pull the idea of "secret wives" completely out of your ass. Nothing of the sort was mentioned or implied in any fashion. You have simply twisted the comments of others to fit your (IMO) deluded views.

@ cewekeds : You, sir or lady, have completely twisted every reasonable argument leveled against you. For more information, please contact 1-800-Got-Brain

In other words, all must follow the exact law of the Bible or be damned to the pit of eternal hellfire! You seem to forget religion is optional, and not everyone is Christian. Besides, the bible is pretty f'ed up at times. I remember being told of one particularly insane passage by a former rabbi of mine. Basically, it told the story of a traveler who stopped at a certain village to rest for the night. A kind man took him in. The other men of the village wanted to "get to know" the guest. But his host sent out his virgin daughter instead because "sodomy was wrong." The young girl proceeded to be gang-raped by every man in the village. Tell me this is not a clear indication that some crazy folk contributed to your holy writings. Obviously, a perfect being like God would not condone such an act. Yet it was done in his name. Makes you think, hmm?

Thank you. Thats what I was trying to remember.

Im not familiar with that species or planet, depending on the identity of Mirialans. -
There will be both an animated and a "real" (cant remember actual term) SW series coming out within a year or so. I refer to the latter.
