  1. Hey Mal, one suggestion is to make sure you're running the latest drivers on your laptop. Sometimes those settings can get locked if your hardware or drivers don't support those features. Granted, K2's an old game now, so if you have a fairly modern laptop, you should have at least some of those features. I would certainly suggest looking in to updating your video drivers though. Also what kind of graphics hardware does your laptop have (if you know)? If you don't know, what kind of laptop (with model) is it?
  2. I can say this, we definitely want it up on Steam too! Hopefully we will have good news on this soon. No promises of course as we can't actually control that, but we hear you and agree! There is a new K1/K2 pack out though that just came out last month, which should be hitting a lot of the retailers out there. Here's an Amazon link for those of you in the States if you want it now.
  3. The developers blogs are back online. We may move them at some future date, but for now, enjoy. http://forums.obsidian.net/blogs
  4. Hi everyone we apologize for the message. One of our Twitter admin's computers got hit by a virus and it logged in as him and posted that. We've deleted the message (and threw the admin and his computer out the window ) and again we apologize for it! I wouldn't recommend whatever it is it's trying to sell...!
  5. @Deraldin: I'm running a process that will probably take a couple hours but will hopefully clean up the old quotes. It should (in theory) fix the issue Deraldin reported above too with the attachment icons overlapping the edit message. @Enoch: One of those still exists at least - if you look at the bottom right of a post way down at the bottom, there should be a link back to the sub-forum itself.
  6. Hi everyone, Today we upgraded our forums which now include a lot of features you have come to know and love on other, more modern boards. We're going to continue to evolve the forums over the coming months and we welcome your feedback. If you notice any problems, please reply here and let us know! The blog section of the forums is currently closed however; we're going to migrating those over to our blogs site at blog.obsidian.net. If you see any weird graphics or things just not looking correctly, it might just be that your browser needs a quick hard refresh. On most Windows-based browsers you can hit Ctrl-F5. Fixes (thanks for the reports!): - Toned down the edit box under edited posts so it's not so loud. - Interests is no longer displayed in the poster's profile area. - Quotes on posts and signatures older than the upgrade should appear correctly now. - Emoticons/smileys should be working correctly again. - Overlap issue of "edited" box and attachment icons is fixed. Thanks! The Guildmaster
  7. From our new blog site at http://blog.obsidian.net: With Dungeon Siege III
  8. Yeah, that's no good from NZ Your download from Steam post install should be like 30MB tops. We're on it - more info soon!
  9. We're getting a hold of Steam. CD copies shouldn't require you to download a huge chunk of the game after installation. Apologies for that hiccup, but that's definitely not intentional, and we'll post more info as soon as we get it. Oh and for anyone seeing this behavior, please post what country you're in so we can forward that info to Steam. Thanks.
  10. Welcome Tale! We're glad to have you amongst the crew! Darren
  11. Hey guys, those specs aren't quite right - those are high recommended specs, not minimum specs. We're looking into getting that page updated. Sorry for the confusion!
  12. On behalf of everyone here at Obsidian, our condolences as well. If he was Visceris/HadesOne, I'll have to say I got a lot of good laughs from him over the years, even if some (many? ) of his words were directed at us in Black Isle. May he rest in peace. -Darren
  13. Thanks - fixed!
  14. Hi Samus, A couple things to try: - If you don't already have them, try updating to the latest ATI drivers. You can download them from www.ati.com. - I know you mentioned the issue about overheating, but as it's described, it does has similarities to what happens when a computer isn't ventilated enough, a fan has seized up, etc. You might pop off the hood of the case while it's running and see if any fans aren't working, or if there's a lot of dust in there. - Turn off anything else on your computer that may be running. IM clients, anti-virus software (at your own risk ), e-mail programs, browsers (especially browsers when they have multiple tabs open - they chew up a lot of memory from your computer) and anything else you can shutdown. Look at your task tray and hover over the icons there to see if any of them are unnecessary while playing games. - Do you notice if your computer's hard drive light is pretty much solid when playing? That will definitely cause chunkiness because it usually means that the game isn't getting enough memory so it is swapping to the hard drive.
  15. Hi there, I noticed you mention you have an NVIDIA card - if you're using the latest drivers, you might want to look at the advice in this thread and see if it fixes up the problem for you. Let us know!
  16. Check out this thread and see if that solution works for him/her. If not, let us know. [TG]
  17. Interesting that you guys are seeing it is the newer PhysX drivers - I'll try to get a ticket opened with NVIDIA, and talk to SEGA about having testers look at those new drivers and see if they can reproduce it. But someone was asking what dependencies the game has. They are: - Microsoft DirectX 9.0c (August 2009) - Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Runtime (7/28/2009 ATL Security Update version) - NVIDIA's PhysX 9.09.0814 drivers (required even if you don't have an NVIDIA card, these manage the physics system in the engine) What was tested was the versions of the software that are on disc 1. If you see that this fixes it for you, please let us know - I'll refer the other parties to this thread as well. Thanks all, TG

  19. Hi Garenth, Googling this problem yielded a lot of hits with a wide variety of software packages but nothing immediately concrete jumped out at me but here's a couple things: - Unfortunately kreese12's suggestion of playing it with a VM may not work. I believe the copy protection will crash the game if it detects itself being run in a VM, but I could be wrong about that. - What anti-virus solution are you using? If you turn it off, does it make a difference? - Did you see the CD-key prompt ever? If so, did the crash occur during that prompt, after you successfully entered it? Do you see a black screen and then a crash, or does it just crash immediately on launch? - Do you have any debugging tools on your computer by chance? Things like Visual Studio or other development software? Reading other people who have had this problem with other games and software products, it usually seems to be related to: - Administrative access is needed to run it (but we don't require it) - Some other installed software causes it (one guy said his Logitech mouse drivers and HP printer drivers somehow were doing it and when he uninstalled them, it worked [not for AP, for another product]) - Try to reinstall Visual C++ Runtimes (which you did, but try installing both the x86 and x64 versions) Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) - Links to Microsoft's web site. Even though you have a 64-bit machine, the game is a 32-bit (x86) application. Visual C++ 2005 SP1 Registributable Package (x64) - Links to Microsoft's web site After you install these, check for Windows Updates - it's likely you'll need to download and install a few security updates. - Try installing Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 (x86) - We don't require it, but that fixed it for someone else on a different software product. 20. Hi all, I made a few cookie changes so let's see if this helps. Sorry for the inconvenience!
  21. It should be fixed in Opera now - it was a finicky issue Also, try the login issue - I adjusted some of the cookies settings which might make it more "technically" correct.
  22. Sorry for not following up sooner, I'll take a look at it with Opera and Safari to make sure the HTML is kosher for those browsers. Thanks DR, -TG
  23. Doing some more research, I see that quite a few other folks have similar problems, but there doesn't seem to be much in the way of tried and true solutions. A couple things I've seen are: 1) Try Firefox as a test to see if it happens with that. If it happens with that too, try #3 below. 2) Try some online virus scanners just to make sure your system hasn't been infected with spyware or virus (even if you already have an anti-virus package installed.) Here's a decent one: http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner 3) Try changing your DNS settings to use something like OpenDNS at www.opendns.com. I've had great luck using OpenDNS on personal PC's. They also have instructions there on how to set it up.
  24. Boo. Do you feel comfortable trying Firefox as a test?
  25. Feel free to keep posting tests in here if you'd like, and let me know if it still happens after the cookie and history flush. (Also, have you rebooted your machine since it started doing that?)
