  1. I have exactly the same problem as you and so far have had no luck in getting the game to run unfortunately. Though my video card is from nVidia and have a retail copy of the game rather than steam, so it would seem that this is not a localised problem. Curiously, i also had the same problem with mirrors edge that you mention in your second post, with again being unable to fix that either - so something most definately is wrong somewhere. Anyway, i hope this can be fixed in some way, shape or form, but for the moment i'll be removing the game from my system and trying it again in a few weeks if a patch is released or a fix found.
  2. I have tried uninstalling and then reinstalling the PhysX drivers from disc but it seems to make no difference either way. I also tried it without PhysX (as a test) and this time it immediately said the game won't respond (as it should do as the game needs it) rather than it appearing and not working 20 seconds later the way it did before. Looking through the forums i noticed another thread here with the exact same problems i have but with an ATi card, so in this particular instance it seems that it is not affected directly by the make of card and the fact it is also from Steam in the other threads case. At this point i have no clue what the problem is or how i can fix it and will more than likely uninstall the game for now sadly.
  3. As far as i know yes their should be a website that i can deactivate it from, but i don't think it is actually up yet (i'm guessing it'll come up to conincide with the American release). Though if i read right about the uniloc drm it should deactivate when i uninstall the game (if i read right of course), but on subsequent reinstallations the activation process has never come up again which could be part of the problem i suppose, although it did say that it might not deactivate on uninstalling. So, if this is the problem (i kinda hope it is so it's nice and simple to fix) there is not much i can do about it till the deactivation website is up and running, but thanks anyway.
  4. Yeah thats not a bad idea, just wish i knew how to redo the activation process. I have tried using the html pages associated with the activation process that are located in the binaries folder, but it brings up a problem with activex controls and even if i allow this i can't click on any of the next buttons ( perhaps due to an error that is on the page or at least that is what it tells me). Have also tried to run the activator program in the binaries folder (which i presume has something to do with the activation process) but it doesn't seem to do anything. Unfortuantely at this point i just don't know, but thanks anyway.
  5. I bought a retail version of AP in the UK and installed the game with seemingly no problems. Pressed play on the launcher after installation and went through the activation process, again seemingly without problem. Tried to then play the game after activation, but it seems to think about it for 10 seconds and then brings it up on the taskbar and the task manager application area but as soon as it comes up there it lists it as not responding. Have tried waiting 5 minutes to see if it will respond to no avail. Have so far reinstalled drivers - no go, resinstalled directx - no go, installed MS C++ redis from disk and website - no go, also tried MS .Net framework - again no go. I have reinstalled the game 3 times now as well as trying a different installation path in case that was the problem and still no luck. The only anti-virus type software i have on is MS Security Essentials and have tried having it both on and off - again no dice. Have put the launcher and the game .exe to run as administrator and program compatability to windows xp (just in case) and unfortunately again it doesn't want to load up. I have though had similar problems with other games such as Stalker Call of Pripyat, Unreal Tournament 3 on steam (but bizarely works from retail disk) and mirrors edge on steam all failing to start in very similar ways, so maybe there is something on my system that just doesn't like or interferes with the games loading. I can play other newer games fine such as BFBC2 and AvP3 with both of these usually on mid to high settings to boot so shouldn't in theory have any problems (But that's theory for you!). The only other things i can think of is a bad install when either changing over the discs or corrupted install files on the disc (but if other people can play the game fine then i doubt this), or there is something very seriously wrong with my computer - but again it seems to run other games fine so i just don't know. Heres my system specs anyway: AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5800+ 3.0GHz 4GB RAM Windows Vista DirectX Version 11 Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT 512Mb Screensize: 1024 x 768 Hope someone can help me because i have been looking forward to this game.
