Got a fat PS3...

Recommended Posts

a solution already in comments... i rather post it if it get lost...

wow, luckly one friend of mine told me don't power on my ps3 today.

the problem seems connected with the today date, it seems some ps3 models "think" today is 29th February 2010.

anyway, ps3 models detected so far:

CECHA01 - affected

CECHC04 - affected

CECHE01 - affected

CECHG01 - affected

CECHG04 - affected

CECHH01 - affected

CECHK01 - affected

CECHK04 - affected

CECHL01 - not affected

CECHL04 - not affected

CECHP01 - not affected

You can play offline: disable internet connection and put system date manually to 03/01/2010 or for europeans: 01/03/2010.

this will not work for games you tried to boot while connected and gave the error code.

How is a date/time glitch that lasts for probably a day worse than your motherboard warping and requiring repair?

Sony PR disaster #783.

It's just the leap year. This'll glitch software, even kotaku points out that this isn't nearly the first time that it happened. The Zune for example also had this happen to it during a leap year.

Yeah, I was able to continue downloading the movies I rented, but it won't let me watch them until it corrects my date.

Oh that sneaky little subtitle, I missed that.

That's another bit of random craziness brought to you by Nightshape. Kids, take your pills and stay in school.

Otherwise you might become a game developer

rrod worked in our favor. had a clunky xbox 360 elite that were as noisy as a twin-engine cesna taxing down a runway. built date were late 2006. a month ago we get rrod and had to send console to mesquite, texas for repair. no repair o' our console... we got either a new or refurbished console (from somewheres in tennessee) that purrs like a kitten and were built in late 2009... only drawback were the 2.5 weeks we were without our xbox console. nextgen consoles will be coming out in 2011 or 2012 and now we got a newer/better machine with which to endure the wait. am having a hard time finding genuine cause to complain.

does microsoft seems like a bunch o' dolts for screwing up so many o' their consoles? sure they do, but they is spending big money to fix the situation. no doubt other folks got nightmare stories to tell, but Gromnir is reasonably satisfied with the customer care we has received... and heck, at least there is games we actually want to play on the xbox360.

HA! Good Fun!

I found it all hilarious.

Seriously though, it wasn't clear to me exactly what was causing the problem when I created the thread, atleast there was no official word.

I don't believe everything that's posted on kotaku.

I came up with Crate 3.0 technology.

Crate 4.0 - we shall just have to wait and see.

Actually, suits at sony have said that currently there is 0 need for another hardware upgrade (PS4 or whatever). They mentioned this at the same time they said they were quite happy with how heavy rain is selling.
