A note about microtransactions in our upcoming RPG

blog-0086685001513369464.png

Greetings Obsidian Fans!

We’re extremely excited about our upcoming RPG, and we know you are too. We wish we could tell you all about it right now… but we’re going to hold off until the time is right. What we did want to talk about was a question a lot of you have been raising: “Will this upcoming game feature any lootboxes or other microtransactions?”

The answer is simply: “no.” No microtransactions, of any kind, in our game.

We also wanted to say a word about our partnership with Private Division, our publisher on this title. Far from “pushing” us to put anything -- microtransactions or otherwise -- into our game, Private Division has been incredibly supportive of our vision, our creative freedom, and the process by which we work to make RPGs. They have been fantastic partners, and we are extremely excited to work with them through release, to put what we know is going to be an amazing game into as many hands as possible.

As always, thank you so much for your support. We know we couldn’t do what we do without our fans, and we want you to know that we put you guys first in every decision we make.

Very disappointing. I was expecting microtransactions and lootboxes/crates. It's the only way for me to know that you are working on a truly top tier game.

I blame Mikey for the lack of micro-transactions and loot boxes. How am I going to satisfying my gambling problem now?

At least make the game over 2000 hours long so we can get that sweet sense of pride and accomplishment when we finally finish it.

If you guys really dont have any microtransactions i would buy this game simply because of that, just to support it

Take-Two is a huge publisher that's been around since the 90s. Only the label is new.

Remember that time you got whacked on the back of the head with a roll of quarters? Or maybe you don't.

Why would anyone want micro-transactions to be in the game? (...or any game?)

They no longer see eye to eye. If they ever did.

Paradox seem slimy as **** anyway.

Any chance there will be a co-op mode? I don't mean multiplayer. Just a local option to play with friends.

Does "no" mean "no" or "no until we add them"?

Nevermind, I am just being cynical. I salute you for your resolve.

Microtransactions are the cancer of videogames.

Thanks for this. I always enjoy the stories in the games you develop. I feel like I'm reading an actual book whenever I play your rpg games. I hope the next game is a huge success for you guys.
