Fixes to the Patch Beta Build

Hello fellow Watchers! 

 

As you may know, we put out a new Patch Beta branch that has our latest fixes for anyone who wants to take advantage of those fixes sooner rather than later.  Your save files will work for this branch, so there is no need to start a new game unless you desire to do so.  Please feel free to continue to post any bugs you may notice that have not already been reported.  Your help finding bugs and giving us feedback has been tremendously helpful and has helped make Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire  to be an amazing game!

 

These are the update notes for Beta Build 71.

 

Major Fixes

  • Fixed mouse functionality issue for users who had their Windows language setting on something other than English.
  • Crew members on Story difficulty can now be killed if they mutiny.
  • Watchers who are hostile to the pirates of Fort Deadlight will find the door to the Court open to prevent the NPCs keeping them in combat without being able to be engaged.
  • Watchers are now able to subdue Scyorielaphas even if all the wards are destroyed.
  • Change to the Pillars 1 history creator now removes options from the list once a choice has been made to prevent confusion.

Companions/Crew

  • Eder's end game state from Pillars 1 has been fixed.
  • Watchers who took the baby orlan in Pillars 1 will now see her in Vilario's Rest.

Audio

  • Various VO fixes to the Vox Machina voice sets.

Miscellaneous

  • Gold, Greed, and Guts achievement should now unlock. (You need only load a save that completed the requirements)
  • Various Credit fixes.

 

These are the update notes for Beta Build 73.

 

Major Fixes

  • Watchers were unable to set or save cloned AI behaviors properly for some classes.  This put the game into a bad state that would delete quick saves upon area transition.

Audio

  • Various VO fixes to Xoti and Vox Machina voice sets.

Miscellaneous

  • Various Credit fixes.

These are the update notes for Beta Build 78 - Mac Only.

 

Major Fixes

  • Potential Shader fixes that were causing black screens on Mac's with Intel integrated graphics cards.
    • Please let us know if this issue is still occurring on your machine (and what graphics card you have) or if you spot this happening in a particular scene. We have fixed (globally) all instances issue of this we could find, but we are sending this fix to the beta branch before exhaustively testing every scene in the game.

These are the update notes for Beta Build 82

 

Major Fixes

  • Fixed a permissions issue that was blocking some players from loading saves.
  • Fixed a combat related memory leak (should improve some FPS on long play sessions)

These are the update notes for Beta Build 86

 

Major Fixes

  • Fixed a bug preventing level scaling from activating correctly.
  • Resolved a Pillars I Import issue that was assigning incorrect values to decisions.
    • This should resolve the issue with Eder mentioning being part of the Night Market instead of the Mayor. This will not update which item he has for existing saves however.

These are the update notes for Beta Build 89

 

Major Fixes

  • Player Dispositions should change less drastically for small decisions.

Miscellaneous

  • Custom AI settings should now save changes when adding new conditionals or abilities.

Several of the Twin Elms branches in the history creator do not have a “I didn’t do this quest” option. Any plans to change this or should we consider those quests retcons when we encounter their reactivity in Deadfire?

Any chance of an update or projected timeline for the Mac issue?  It's a little frustrating to see other issues being resolved before the one of the game simply not working for a lot of people.

Would it be possible to get character creation updated in a way that you don't have to spam the previous button over and over just to change your race? ;-;

Since starting this beta certain items- cloaks, Wizard grimoires and Eder's pipe seem to have a graphical bug shown below, but only zoomed in like in their inventory screen or while leveling up. Otherwise, on the models in-game, they're fine.5ZE5Afm.jpg

I went back and searched the entirety of Vilerio's Rest for her in my save. She isn't there either. Guess this fix doesn't apply to ongoing saves... and that really bites, seeing as I'm already 30+ hours into the game and there's no way I can restart now.

 

I'm really disappointed. It feels like a punishment for backing the game and playing it on Day 1.

Yeah, this issue, and Arena Sub-level issue in the Engwithan Digsite. I haven't touched the game at all since launch day, and I'm a little upset since I have the downtime to actually play this. D:

Unfortunately the Mac issue was a bit more complicated, but we have discovered the issue and expect it to be fixed soon.  It will come onto the Patch Beta build first, so keep an eye out for the fix here.

What about fixing mouse functionality issue for users who had their Windows language setting on English?

That just got fixed and we pushed the update to the Patch Beta build.  It was more prevalent to international languages, but programmers applied a global fix.  Closing the game should trigger an update to that build and you should be fixed.  If a the problem still occurs, please let me know.

I don't think the Eder history fix is working.

 

I went back to my very first save with a Mayor Eder. He still has the Night Market medallion, but he mentions his time as mayor. That's working right! But I had to redo my character to fix attributes, so I started a new save.

 

Upon importing again, I find Eder once again has a Night Market Amulet and talks about the Night Market, despite having ended up as mayor. So it retroactively fixed one of my games, but when importing fresh it's still broken.

In addendum to my above post (which hasn't yet been approved I think!) I checked my save where I manually entered that I made Eder a skeptic. In that save pre-patch, he had the Mayoral amulet but talked about going to Aedyr instead of becoming mayor. 

 

So to recap, in regards to Eder importing correctly, old import save is retroactively fixed. Old manual-entry save is still bugged. New import save is still bugged.

So, the beta patch was working fine, until I met Seraphen's captain and he addressed me as a famous "dragon slayer", even thou I didn't kill any dragon on pillars 1 and I freed the adra dragon. Is this bugged as well?

I still end up with the created history of Eder being mayor of him insisting he went home to his parents.

In terms of "Credit",

Does it mean 'backers lists' or 'in-game fame/honor'?

Other than the Mac issues, the freezing up of the game when entering the arena under the Engwithian Ruins is probably the biggest bug that prevents many people from leaving the first island. So far it is not even in the list of major issues, even though people keep reporting it both on Steam and here as well:

Is there an ETA on a fix for the issue some of us having where the game freezes on entering the Engwithan dig site sub-level? I've seen it mentioned here, on reddit, and on the steam forum, and hitting a hard progression block less than two hours in is a real bummer.
