Fitting music and lyrics in anticipation of Deadfire

Recommended Posts

What the thread title says!

Here's my suggestion for fitting music while we wait for Deadfire.

Here's the tune (Depeche Mode, All That's Mine):

And here are the lyrics (The "you" in it is Eothas, and the "I" is your main character):

I know it's hard to reach you
I know it's hard to breathe
I know it's hard to be you sometimes
I can't imagine what that means
This must be someone else's story
I can't follow what you've planned
How could this be about me
Am I supposed to understand?
Like a ship on the ocean
Heading out to sea
You can hardly see it now
It's a lot like you
Lost like me
You're still looking for redemption
Still can't find a trace
If there is nothing after
There'll be the saving grace
I'm giving you control now
I need some kind of sign
Can't take
I'm giving you control now
I need some kind of sign
Can't take away the sorrow now
I gave you all that's mine
Like a ship on the ocean
Heading out to sea
You can hardly see it now
It's a lot like you
Like a ship on the ocean
Heading out to sea
You can hardly see it now
It's a lot like you
Lost like me

And yet another DM piece fits the bill well, Set Me Free (Remotivate Me):

Here are the lyrics (The "me" here is obviously Eothas, locked up in a statue):
Set me free
Set me free
Remotivate me
Set me burning
After years in deep freeze
My body is yearning
For a new lease of life
And a little spice
Set me free
Remotivate me
Give me a reason
To scream and shout
Give me something
To get excited about
When everything is looking dull
I'm sure it isn't impossible to
Set me free
Remotivate me
Remotivate me
Set me burning
After years in deep freeze
My body is yearning
For a new lease of life
And a little spice
Set me free
Remotivate me
Remotivate me
Set me burning
After years in deep freeze
My body is yearning
For a new lease of life
And a little spice
Set me free
Remotivate me
Don't think I'm impatient
Because I'm willing to wait
But something must must happen
Before it gets too late
It could be my imagination
But wasn't there more than this dull sensation
Set me free
Remotivate me

@White Phoenix: I haven't played Dark Souls, so I'm very pleasantly surprised. Wake me is my favourite out of those two!

How about something more era appropriate:-)

Given my own extensive 15th, 16th and 17th century Flandern roots, lots of Huguenots, this literally moved me to tears. Thank you! I've bookmarked that Youtube clip.

Your suggestions are so much better and fitting than mine that it's not even funny, but lyrics-wise, at least I have nailed it a bit.

When I was young, I always loved listening to this intro when the Onedin Line was on the telly, I reckon it's pretty fitting for Deadfire:

first song came to mind:

simple coincidence as was actual thinking what an underrated album were presence as 'posed to any kinda fit for deadfire.

edit:  'cause europe doesn't want you to hear led, you get nsfw datsuns:

warning: not joking 'bout the nsfw.

after a moment serious reflection, for fit we would likely go with a BSG (2004) bit o' bear mccreary. black sails theme obvious works too.

however, for the numerous beta chicken littles, we propose the following:

"Those who won our independence by revolution were not cowards. They did not fear political change. They did not exalt order at the cost of liberty. To courageous, self-reliant men, with confidence in the power of free and fearless reasoning applied through the processes of popular government, no danger flowing from speech can be deemed clear and present, unless the incidence of the evil apprehended is so imminent that it may befall before there is opportunity for full discussion. If there be time to expose through discussion the falsehood and fallacies, to avert the evil by the processes of education, the remedy to be applied is more speech, not enforced silence."--Justice Louis Brandeis, Concurring, Whitney v. How about some shanties?

I love these, and you sure know your authentic stuff. Shanties would perhaps make Deadfire too gleeful, but one or two would fit right in!

This must play forever whilst on the boat.

Hilarious! It wasn't dancing, rather double fistpumping deckwards!

And speaking of fun pirat-y stuff:

And some chill ocean notes:

Beastie Boys are super-cool! That song is great, and Sureshot too.

For some reason, though, Gromnir, it said that your Led Zeppelin clip was unavailable.

hmm.  seems to be working for us.

alternate:

(edited out: unavailable in a few euro nations)

if it works, let us know and we will edit in the alternate.

however, to keep this from being a otherwise pointless post save for the edit possibility, we will submit another option

(good enough)

but again, so is not an excuse, we will observe how for US males over 30, the following is the greatest anticipation music... evar.

perhaps over 35.

@Gromnir - I know Led Zeppelin is very restrictive when it comes to their IP. Maybe those vids are geoblocked or something. Because I can see all the other ones you're posting, only the Zeppelins' are not available. But nevermind, I know the song. ;)
