BruceVC
"Being an embarrassment to your race" is one of the most racist statements you can make. According to you it is, the thing is do you consider yourself someone who has a deep understanding and view of bigotry? Wrath of Dagon
What's funny is that you think it's a subject that requires deep understanding. May be you have a degree in that? You don't need a degree but it does require some historical understanding and empathy around the history of the Europeans But things get complicated around this topic and its not necessary to go into details unless you really want to get a different perspective ? Chippy
At the risk of sounding a bit dramatic, I'd say the lack of respect for democracy is probably in the top 5 greatest threat's to the entirety of western civilization right now. The other 4 things would be (in no particular order): porn, Alex Jones, the Russians, and deplorable Trump supporters everywhere. Ben No.3
I wonder if this thread serves any purpose other than furthering the pissing contest between the left and right here in this forum. If this has to continue, can we at least make a politics subforum so that those of us not interested in this partisan bickering don't have to see it every time we look for other topics in the board? The real question is, how could a debate over how a country should be run turn into imbecile bitching (includes me... More of a sentiment towards society, not specific people)? Ben No.3
I hereby make a proposal: How about we completely ignore the followers of ideologies from here on out and focus exclusively on the ideologies themselves, as well as maybe their head figures and representatives? So no more talking about "the liberals", "the conservatives", "the libertarians", "the socialists" and so on but rather let's talk about "liberalism", "conservatism", "libertarianism", "socialism" and so on. redneckdevil
I'd actually say the followers are just as much as important as the ideology itself because they the followers shows how the ideology actually interacts and does when brought to the real world? Guard Dog
I must say, I figured this thread would be a total flame war with a green dragon circling angrily overhead. Didn't turn out to be that way at all.
