Fun Ability Synergy: Sacred immolation and Aegis of Loyalty

Recommended Posts

Paladin's can't be charmed. :p

Yeah, makes determining if the self damage rights yourself kinda hard.

No, you damage yourself on every pulse.

What I was wondering: There are some items now that provide some forms of offensive auras. Like the Excecutioner's Hood that frightens or that pollaxe that lowers concentration via "Zephyr" aura. Could it be that those auras (which also produce hit rolls) also turn around your charmed teammate with Aegis of Loyality? That would be pretty nice!

Yeah, you could get this combo working much sooner if it did.

Have to test that. Only thing is: how do I get my teammates charmed first? ;)

Just tested the interaction with The Wind's Arm. (If you have Aegis of Loyalty) Zephyr will dispel charm/dominate from affected teammates!

Few notes through:

- Zephyr has relatively small radius (base 2m)

- Dispel is not instant. Zephyr pulses once in 3s

- It has to pass the check vs will first. I have failed to un'dominate Eder 5 times in a row (until I figured that it would be faster if I had reduced his will saves first) original.gif

Redfield shield has that kind of aura too. Would be pretty groovy!

It is probably bugged. Redfield's Harbinger passive, doesn't help in dispelling the aforementioned afflictions. And unlike Zephyr it doesn't leave a debuff on enemies at all.

(Update note: it works now. If it doesn't for you: save and restart the game)

-- update --

Aegis of Loyalty also works with Retaliation!

Tested with Coat of III Payment. And the other test with Sura's Supper Plate. Both work. Once a dominated team member hits the paladin, domination is dispelled.

More sweetness for the Pld. Looks like I'll have to make sure they have an Aura and Retaliation item on the pld; just take that durn Charm outta the game. Really are a team player. Specially now they can we can have two Spelltongue dorks with +25 Deflection, +10 Acc and Lay on hands for full duration of every encounter, to go with whatever other buffs to toss on them, like Outlander's frenzy. (Turning that into Perma 25% haste, 3 might, 3 con is pretty nice.)

Hmm...now that I think of it, I dunno what class and team set up best abuses Spelltongue. Got two of em now, so worth potentially building some fun around.

I should acquire that shield shortly in my current play through. Will test and report in the tech forums.

My bad. After game restart, Harbinger finally started to work. It finally appears in combat log, as debuff on enemiy mouseover, and yeap, it works in regards to dispelling charms and dominate.

Also checked if self-damage from Sacred Immolation will lead to dispelling. Nope, unfortunately it doesn't.

This is so cool. Thanks so much for testing. Now... could you also test if the fear aura of the executioner's hood does the same? It should, but who knows...? ;)

I imagine a Bleak Walker with the Executioner's Hood, that bloody club that does Persecuting and Redfield. :)

Thanks again!

Hmm... that's not logical. Why do the others work and this not? Maybe it has something to do with that console-magic? I always experience weird stuff when I try to add/remove talents or abilities via console.

^ Np  ;) Thanks for ideas themselves.

Yeah, a bleak-walker paladin with sacred immolation, retaliation and all those items, is like a monument to "Thou shalt not flip your alliances!"

As for console... save/reloading in case the tests provided some unexpected results usually helps. Although it's double-time...
