This single line made my day

Recommended Posts

*!!!Minor spoilers for that path beneath the keep! I advice you not to read this if you haven't done it yourself already!!!*

I reached the part where you get to the Vithrak cavern at lvl... 12 I think, the place where you encounter Tcharek.

So... you have ventured down into the treacherous paths. Fought hordes of lizardmen, elementals, shades, drakes and living mushrooms carved out of nightmares. You are in a dark place of solitude and meet the leader of these mentalist horrors called Vithraks. Their leader attempts to communicate with you - and you ask him to speak Aedyrian. Surely you should fear for your life at this very moment.

Then I saw one of the reply lines were: "Your Aedyrian could need some work". I was literally laughing out loud seeing this. You face a monstrous creature that puts illithids to shame - which thankfully for you want to communicate. And you have the option to criticize his linguistic skills lmao :D

Thanks Obsidian. This line really made my day. Sorry if this post is kinda bloggy or whatever but I just wanted to commend the writer that put this in there. Such subtle yet genius humor.

I was recently reading a Warhammer 40K book and a similar situation happened.  The Big Evil Bad Guy was fighting a Trying Really Hard Good Guy and somehow the good guy was pulled across the galaxy to safety through some xeno portal.  The bad guy was like "What the hell, get back here and fight!"  Just then the two Really Good Guys show up and do their "Evil will perish!" monologues and the bad guy, who's been nothing but pain and death and evil all book says, "Are we just not going to talk about what just happened to that guy?" then they continued their epic melee after being ignored.

I laughed out loud at that and several other tables looked at me funny in the restaurant.

Haven't done Caed Nua yet. But i understand how you feel. I refrained myself to create various topics of this kind. About one line, one music, or whatever :D. There are few things i don't like in PoE, but many details are priceless. Like the exchange between Eder and Pallegina about the father and the hen... Or the fact i pause combat 30 minutes when the music "Come Soft Winds Of Death" plays... Or how a brothel patron at the Salty Mast explains how not only the drinks are stiff around here, or how Sagani wants to get "to the point" after 5 years, and yes, many others.

"You face a monstrous creature that puts illithids to shame -"

No, they don't. Not even close.

\

\That aside, I agree, that line was definitely chuckle worthy.

The fiery whote line though... I'm surprised some SJW didn't demand its removal amongst a bunch of other sexist lines.

Maybe you should consider that your preconceptions don't accurately reflect reality.

I care about social justice (you'd definitely call me a "SJW") and I have no problem with a game having sexist, racist or even child-molesting characters. As long as it's handled well. Which I think PoE does.

One of the reasons I liked Aloth's line is because he told Durance off for being a sexist bastard.
