June 27, 201510 yr @AndreaColombo - out of curiosity: For the fixed / less errorneous German version we added the missing quotes at the end of the line, because it looks slightly less wrong. I mean: Seriously, opening quotes without ending quotes ... OCD-Durlachion is not amused about the asymmetric solution. Of course, the better way would be if we could safely remove the quotes at the beginning of a new paragraph that belongs to the same person currently speaking. That's why I am asking: Did the devs mention anything like that to you? Like, that they are going to adjust the parsers behavior for highlighting direct speech, which would make these quotation marks at the beginning redundant (and the quotes at the end as well)?
June 27, 201510 yr Author @Durlachion - They never told me anything about that, but the way quotation marks are currently used within the game text is the standard practice for the English language. The convention in English is to put an opening quotation mark at the first and each subsequent paragraph, but use a closing quotation mark only for the final paragraph of the quotation Source Of course different languages would abide by different rules; in Italian, for example, I would put closing quotation marks at the end of every paragraph. So it totally makes sense for you to do so in the German game text if that's how German grammar works. Edited June 27, 201510 yr by AndreaColombo "Time is not your enemy. June 27, 201510 yr Ooh, didn't know that, thanks! Hm, if you like, I could try to create a list of incorrect quotes for the English version, now that I know how it's supposed to be. Like the one I did a bit earlier for misspelled words. That should hopefully reduce your work^^

I mean: Seriously, opening quotes without ending quotes ... OCD-Durlachion is not amused about the asymmetric solution. It's funny I did the same "correction" for the french translation. July 5, 201510 yr Author "Carefully drawn" should not be hyphenated as it includes an adverb. Screenshot "Between she and I" makes no grammatical sense as both "she" and "I" are subjects, and "between" requires an object. It should be "between her and me". Screenshot "Time is not your enemy. Forever is." — Fall-From-Grace, Planescape: Torment "It's the questions we can't answer that teach us the most. They teach us how to think. If you give a man an answer, all he gains is a little fact. July 24, 201510 yr An update on this for you all... I've made most all the fixes brought up, excluding a few cases where what was there was either deemed acceptable or too much trouble to fix for whatever reason. I've also done a spell check on all game text. Oh the deep shame of it all. Probably about a hundred spelling errors fixed. (EDIT: make that two hundred.) On the bright side, White March will be much cleaner in that regard. These'll be in the 2.0 patch, I believe, which is incoming shortly. Also, thanks again to everyone for all the help - we'd never have been able to catch all this ourselves. It's like having to edit War and Peace while writing a War and Peace expansion pack.
July 25, 201510 yr Author Eric, thank you so much for fixing these and for updating us! Having done some copy-editing for BG:EE and BGII:EE, I can certainly appreciate the amount of work that goes into this. Many developers wouldn't even bother, which makes me all the more thankful toward you. I also gladly volunteer to help you with any further textual fixes that might be necessary in the future, if you so wished "Time is not your enemy. Forever is." — Fall-From-Grace, Planescape: Torment "It's the questions we can't answer that teach us the most. They teach us how to think. If you give a man an answer, all he gains is a little fact.
