danielkx Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I do not believe this has been answered but forgive me if it has. The game is being released 9am PDT... devs have already said there will be a patch same day, do we know if the patch will be available at the same time the game is released or will it be available later in the day?
Mamoulian War Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Yes and it will be 23GB download just kidding, just kidding, don't hit me. No one has confirmed the release of the patch, but the shipping of physical DVD at later time after release game makes me think, that you get Day 0 patch for this game as well. Veynn Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Please let it not be like Wasteland 2's recent 9GB patch. 1
Veevoir Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I'd be suprised if pre-load did not already include the day-1 patch. Unless it wasn't ready yesterday. 1
Aarionn Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I am not sure day 1 patch is in the preload. I think Obsidian had to submit game to the Steam much earlier because of how they operate and in order for everything to go on time. I expect game will install after the launch and immediately update. Not sure how big day1 patch will be but we can expect few GB imho.

I know the patch has some fairly major stuff--revamping the enchanting UI and such.
Calenhad Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I just hope the GoG version is all patched up when it's released later today!
Falkon Swiftblade Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I noticed my pc version was a 6gb dl, but my mac version was 11.1 gb. I wonder why that is?
Katarack21 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I noticed my pc version was a 6gb dl, but my mac version was 11.1 gb. I wonder why that is? I don't actually know, but if I were to take a guess I'd say just different kinds of compression?
Nukenin Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I just hope the GoG version is all patched up when it's released later today! The recent minor snafu with the release of the Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition 1.4 patch (the initial patch download didn't actually have the patch ) on GOG led me to go ahead and get PoE on Steam as well, simply to be as current as I can. I love GOG and hopefully PoE on GOG is kept current in a timely fashion for those who chose to get their PoE there. I only got the base game on Steam; GOG will be the source of my extras. 1 --/\/
Luckmann Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Even as a bit of an anti-DRM fanatic, I honestly can't fault people for choosing Steam over GOG in a case like this. My main worry right now is actually whether GOG will be able to handle the early patch(es). 2
Aramed Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I had an extra chunk of download before on steam, I thought that was the patch downloading. Might be wrong, but I think it already downloaded.
Niggey Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Same here. Finished preloading yesterday and today PoE was downloading some 200mb data. Could be the compressed patch
Aarionn Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Same here. Finished preloading yesterday and today PoE was downloading some 200mb data. Could be the compressed patch ohh really? I am starting steam right now!
Corwin77 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I'm sure the patch will arrive as soon as the game is unlocked. Obsidian is a reputable company and they won't want to disappoint fans. I worry if GoG will also have it which is why I went Steam even though I really like GoG.
Mamoulian War Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Because GoG does not do preloading, I would not be surprised if the GoG release would be already patched with Day 0 patch at 9am Pacific time. 1 Sent from my Stone Tablet, using Chisel-a-Talk 2000BC. Telmorial Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Semi off topic but has anyone heard rumors if the day 1 patch will include balance changes to the Wizard damage spells vs Druid damage? I've seen various videos where people say Wizard damage is a bit underpowered compared to Druids, so wondering if that's true and if they intend on tweaking the damage on day 1.
Azzy Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 I'm interested in knowing how the DRM-free patches that are going to be put up here will compare to steam getting patches. It would be cool if this were the first place to get the updates. It seems sensible that GOG's install will be the same as the disc one so it may be possible to grab the patch from here and cut out GOG's testing and installer creation. I'd imagine they won't be pushing the initial patch even if thats true. They will have enough to worry about with all the extras being downloaded here.
like00111 Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 (edited) For those using steam, restart in offline, then restart to online and there will be a 119mb(or somewhere around there) update for PoE. Edited March 26, 2015 by like00111
Telmorial Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 For those using steam, restart in offline, then restart to online and there will be a 119mb(or somewhere around there) update for PoE. Weird, I tried that but couldn't see a patch. Maybe I'm missing where it should offer the update. I tried going to my library and right clicking on PoE but couldn't see options to update or any updates in the Recent News. What am I doing wrong?
Veynn Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Yesterday when I finished the 6gb preload, after a couple of hours, my PoE updated again. I don't know what's the size of that update but it took no more than 20 mins to finish. What could that be?! Hmmm
