The first game, looked good, and played well. But i found one thing that could have been improved. The flow of the fighting system. In movies, lets take the duel between obi and Maul for a example, they didnt fights like : Maul thrusts a swing finished the movement, then gets in defensive mode for block obis attack. Obi uses push unsuccessfully then waits in defense pose for maul to attack. (You get the idea) What about a system that is uneven, in the sense that a oppenent could attack twice, and oppenent could only attack one. And this would be randomly cycled, instead of the attaack- defend-attack-defend. More like attack-attack-defend-attack-defend-defend. Im just saying that the KOTOR 2 fighting system might look slightly better like this, if the improved animation does not fix this?

 

Any other thoughts on how a more cinematic experienced can be realised?

It should follow the gamesystem it's based on. D20 Star Wars.

 

If they do it at all it should mirror the BaB system... which does allow for multiple attacks.

'Parry' might be useful in Kotor2 - that's a defensive feat with counter-attacks after a successful block... it would make a change from flurry and crit strike.

KOTOR was fantastic, but if it gets any more 'cinematic' in this sense it will become an adventure game. Seriously.

 

Imposing something like that on combat would be a terrible idea. Not only does it disregard the rule system, it's unfair and will really piss the player off.

 

I remember playing a Hotseat game of HOMM2 with a friend. He was in combat, and it seemed to him that the computer would get two turns at attacking compared to his one turn. That wasn't actually the case, but lawks did he throw a wobbly.

i think for a more cinematic experience they should have more camera angles. like a final fantasy kind of look, not all the time tho. i think the only real cutscene in game was when you were training as a jedi, the rest was that in your face dialogue kinda view.

yeah, they should have a cheesy training montage, with music from 'rocky 3'.

 

and a benny hill sequence.

 

also, they should use the standard lucas-style wipes for the scene transitions.

 

and a few 'twin peaks'-style kind of bizarro dream sequences as well: giants, horses, strobe lights, that sort of thing. just remember: lucas originally asked david lynch to direct 'return of the jedi' but he was too busy doing 'dune'. if lynch had directed ROTJ, i reckon KOTOR might have been a lot cooler.

I wholeheartedly support the implementation of this idea.
