September 11, 201213 yr Or maybe you play as the Angel of God, revealing the ram in the thicket at exactly the right moment so as to both test Abraham's devotion and spare the child. Edited September 11, 201213 yr by Enoch
September 11, 201213 yr I just felt like popping in and saying you guys are the bomb. Reading theories by deconstructing cryptic notes and stuff is some of the coolest stuff, even if 99% of it is probably wrong!
September 11, 201213 yr It seems like each letter of first hidden line in source will be revealed every day. Yesterday it was: <!--. X . X X . X X --> Today: <!--. X . X X . T X --> . X . X X . T X PROJECTX ? :D Still gaming with my 9900k/2080ti/32 ram. One day I suppose a game may inspire me to finally upgrade. Maybe.
September 11, 201213 yr Imaging a first-person fantasy rpg that I can play as female and use magic. If it has those things, I'm probably there. Lovin' the buzz and speculation.
September 11, 201213 yr My guess Planescape: Torment. Probably a prequal. Not totally sure if they have the rights to the game or not. But if it is Planescape I will be very happy...
September 11, 201213 yr I have two guesses at the moment. 1) Some form of reincarnation of The Black Hound project. 2) Some Darklands-esque type of game. Very much doubt that it will be Planescape as Chris (who would be the logical champion of such a project) is busy with Wasteland 2. Listen to my home-made recordings (some original songs, some not): http://www.youtube.c...low=grid&view=0
September 11, 201213 yr I'm still holding out hope for a fantasy setting combined with high technology, i.e. fundamentalist religious order keeping the world in a dark age while rebels use scientific developments to advance their goals. But that's just me - generic fantasy is just too boring for my tastes, I'd much rather see a twist on it. Oh yea that'd be great, because it hasn't been done a million times over.
September 11, 201213 yr Arcanum's really the only full-blown tech/magic merger in a post-90s, traditional western RPG. Let's Play: Icewind Dale Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Icewind Dale II Ironman (Complete) Let's Play: Divinity II (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG1 (Complete) Let's Play: Baldur's Gate Trilogy Ironman - BG2 (In Progress)
September 11, 201213 yr <!--. X . X X . T X --> Could it be INFINITY / INFINITE as that is what the Ouroboros represents? Could also be ETERNITY, DIVINITY, ULTIMATE, could also be MEERKATS Edited September 11, 201213 yr by Henshall
September 11, 201213 yr I shall use my powers of deduction to decide that all the X's are important... clearly a roman numeral. OMG IT'S ULTIMA X!!!!
September 11, 201213 yr Arcanum's really the only full-blown tech/magic merger in a post-90s, traditional western RPG. I don't mean the tech/magic merger, I mean the whole juvenile interpretation of history where religion is the great oppressor, etc. etc.
September 11, 201213 yr A thought: Does anybody else find it a bit ironic that Obsidian is teasing us into speculating about the truth behind some mysterious statements... by presenting us mysterious statements that explicitly postulate the fruitlessness of attempting to ascertain actual truth? If it weren't such a disastrous idea from a public-relations perspective, I'd be suspecting that we're all being trolled. Or maybe this is meta-commentary on the nature of game-industry hype (or of marketing in general)-- the important thing is the mystery. The actuality can never live up to the universe of potentials that exist in the minds of a thousand fanboys reading press releases.
September 11, 201213 yr They sure are behaving very "publisher like" at the moment... “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
September 11, 201213 yr For some reason a lot of the stuff kind of reminds me of THIEF. Thief 4 is in development by SquareEnix, but Godhammer sort of reminds me of the Hammerites and a lot of the stuff being presented just seems dark/mysterious as THIEF was. But obviously this has nothing to do with it, just pointing out some similarities (to me). Really, really, really hope this is a Forgotten Realms game. I loved the dialogue in BG/ID/NWN2. Mask of the Betrayer was incredible.
September 11, 201213 yr This game better feature lots of crates or it's Project X in name only. “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
September 11, 201213 yr Imaging a first-person fantasy rpg that I can play as female and use magic. If it has those things, I'm probably there. Lovin' the buzz and speculation. I hope I can play as a female in this. Loved Alpha Protocol to death but it sucks that being a woman wouldn't make any sense in that fiction.
September 11, 201213 yr It's interesting how men don't mind playing female characters in games, but women more generally stick to female characters. At the moment, I personally find it more likely that Project X some new IP, maybe also a Kickstarter project. Hey guys, what if the Ouroboros stands for infinity - could it not also stand for THE INFINITY ENGINE? A newly developed, kickstarted IE game would definitely get my full financial backing. Or maybe we should be thinking more along the lines of IWD:EE? Edited September 11, 201213 yr by Rostere "Well, overkill is my middle name. And my last name. And all of my other names as well!"
September 11, 201213 yr It's interesting how men don't mind playing female characters in games, but women more generally stick to female characters. Probably because the vast majority of game characters are male. The fact that can you usually create your own character in RPGs is one of the reasons why I love them.
September 11, 201213 yr Meh, they'll probably just pretend working on this while the real development occurs down in the basement with project Y. Edited September 11, 201213 yr by Irregular programming
September 11, 201213 yr What about Obsidian's current job listings, they're hiring some 2D specialists like "2D Environment Intern" and "2D Environment Illustrator". Could this be a hint that the new game would be 2D or just job listing in general or for some other project? I'm hoping for a new Baldur's Gate or IWD:EE indeed (hmm, I guess I wouldn't mind it being Torment:EE either).
September 11, 201213 yr An infinity engine Wheel of Time game set in the Age of Legends would be amazing.

I'd rather see the budget used somewhere else but I wouldn't complain if we got a beautiful 2D adventure.
September 11, 201213 yr What worries me is the combination lf faux Gaelic and religious overtones which reminds me of Dragon Age: Origins. The setting was the thing I disliked most about that game “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
September 12, 201213 yr I think it is Fallout something and has to do with the Hecate and her cult tribe thing. Look up Ouroboros on the Vault wiki. Religious stuff would fit in. A user posted a link to the page in the first thread, that made me realize this.
September 12, 201213 yr Seems rather existential in some respects, also reminds me of Aristotle, I think he was speaking on the getting of wisdom increasing mans sorrows or some such. Been a fair few years since I studied the classics however. Quite an experience to live in misery isn't it? That's what it is to be married with children.I've seen things you people can't even imagine. Pearly Kings glittering on the Elephant and Castle, Morris Men dancing 'til the last light of midsummer. I watched Druid fires burning in the ruins of Stonehenge, and Yorkshiremen gurning for prizes. All these things will be lost in time, like alopecia on a skinhead. Time for tiffin. Tea for the teapot!
