entrerix Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 im on level 21 with 9 iq, i have 3 skills at 100, one at 65, and one at 80. i havent added a single point to any of the others, this feels balanced to me, but my next playthrough i will probably take iq 10. i like skills. Maria Caliban Posted October 22, 2010 Author Posted October 22, 2010 I met my first deathclaw. I mean, first ever. I've never seen one in a game before. I assumed they were radscorpians. Now I'm not sure what they are. I found the Brotherhood's hide out. You can tinker with their navigation? That's boffo. I fully expect the slide show at the end to reveal they made it there. There being they crashed into the desert and died. Yes. Right beside the launching controls is a navigational computer. I believe it's 60 science to use. "When is this out. I can't wait to play it so I can talk at length about how bad it is." - Gorgon.
sorophx Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I found the Brotherhood's hide out. where is it? actually I traveled through deathclawland, managed to aggro 4 of them, took down 2 before they splattered my guts all over the place. there were at least 10 of them, I decided to sneak past them... adult deathclaws are friggin' huge, scare the crap out of me. anyone recall seeing a shovel, by any chance? I really want the Gravedigger perk Walsingham said: I was struggling to understand ths until I noticed you are from Finland. Tale Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Buy the shovel, there are none to be simply found that I can see. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
sorophx Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 who sells it? I haven't seen it (or haven't looked very carefully) Walsingham said: I was struggling to understand ths until I noticed you are from Finland. Tale Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I saw one at the merchant in Good Springs waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
entrerix Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 yeah, chet at goodsprings sells a shovel Killing is kind of like playin' a basketball game. I am there. and the other player is there. and it's just the two of us. and I put the other player's body in my van. and I am the winner. - Nice Pete.
HoonDing Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 So I gallivanted around a bit and came upon a place named "Sloan" and was attacked by some guy with a sledgehammer. I killed him and the entire town was hostile as well... killed them too and now I have "NCR Infamy" (not really what I planned). Is this supposed to happen? The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
entrerix Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 no i dont think so... were you wearing powder ganger or legion stuff? did you accidentally steal anything from them? hearing about towns going crazy and attacking reminds me of playing fallout 1 and 2. "what did i do to make you all so mad at me!!" *reloads last save* Killing is kind of like playin' a basketball game. I am there. and the other player is there. and it's just the two of us. and I put the other player's body in my van. and I am the winner. - Nice Pete.
HoonDing Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I approached the town in Powder Gang outfit but I was "hidden" all the time. Then I switched outfit when I noticed they weren't powder gang and they turned hostile. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
entrerix Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 my guess is that someone saw you before switching/during the switch. or its a bug. did you reload an earlier save without the powder gang outfit on? Killing is kind of like playin' a basketball game. I am there. and the other player is there. and it's just the two of us. and I put the other player's body in my van. and I am the winner. - Nice Pete.
HoonDing Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 I reloaded and everything is fine, except that now I am *vilified* with the Powder Gang. Also for some reason now several giant radscorpions appeared near the place where I manually saved (Yangtze Memorial), blocking my safe way back to Doc to heal my crippled limbs. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
sorophx Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 YuU can fast travel from the memorial. don't forget to pick up the snowglobe on the grave Walsingham said: I was struggling to understand ths until I noticed you are from Finland. entrerix Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 yeah that area is crawling with giant radscorpions in my game too, definitely to be avoided at the lower levels. sorophx Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 by the way, speaking of the Strip: I made my way inside without paying or talking to anyone. took the monorail from Camp McCarran, took me straight to the casinos. not sure if it's a bug or a feature Walsingham said: I was struggling to understand ths until I noticed you are from Finland. entrerix Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 dude, my monorail got blown up, but i was able to science my way onto the strip for free. i have decided that all of my future characters will max science, lockpick, and speech. leaving only my weapon choice and 1 other skill available to be maxed. this game it was repair and guns, next game probably sneak and energy weapons... though i'm worried their will not be as fun weapons in energy, maybe sneak and unarmed would be a good choice... HoonDing Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 Pumping Explosives seems a must to deal with those 10,000 deathclaws in the quarry (went to take a look with my level 3, I was out of there fast). No nuka-grenades (?), but at least bottlecap mines are still in the game. The ending of the words is ALMSIVI.
sorophx Posted October 22, 2010 Posted October 22, 2010 (edited) ahaha, yeah, the second I heard "deathclaws" I was well on my way to Primm never thought I'd encounter them so early into the game btw, anyone tried the implants they give at the New Vegas Clinic? I'm curious how Endurance affects the total number of implants you can get. and it's definitely cheaper than in F2. 8000 caps to become a Terminator - sign me up. Maria Caliban Posted October 23, 2010 Author Posted October 23, 2010 What do boxes for the different ammo types do. Reduce weight, are you supposed to use them in ammo crafting ? If you're talking about the surplus boxes, they're cheaper than normal ammo, but ruin your gun faster. "When is this out. I can't wait to play it so I can talk at length about how bad it is." - Gorgon.
Tale Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Hit level 14, had 90 repair, so picked up Jury Rigging. Time to bring That Gun out! And a hunting rifle because I haven't used a two hander at all yet. Now to find a scope for it. Maybe silencer. That'd be sweet. "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
WILL THE ALMIGHTY Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I haven't found a single weapon mod in the entire game and I just finished it. "Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"
LadyCrimson Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Since this is a spoiler ok thread....I'm wandering towards Prim, killing gecko's and powder bandits that seem intent on attacking me unprovoked, but when I reach Prim apparently lvl 3 isn't good enough to get through all the goons there yet. At least not when you don't have much ammo. Tried teleporting in and dashing towards the side (bonus? something?) quest marker there but nope. Still it was fun trying. I love games that let me do that sort of thing instead of blocking access until later somehow. Trying to figure out what I'm supposed to do/want to do now. I haven't found a single weapon mod in the entire game and I just finished it. sad.gif There are some for sale in the stores seemingly. Or did you mean one just lying about. “Things are as they are. Tale Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 (edited) I haven't found a single weapon mod in the entire game and I just finished it. Did you rush through? Stores stock more stuff as you level. Gun Runners has tons. I have to go hunting for an Anti-Materiel rifle now. I just got the perk that lowers gun strength requirement by 2. Also, just got both my repair and guns at 90. Not really raising them since I see no point in going further and might stumble on a book. Edited October 23, 2010 by Tale "Show me a man who "plays fair" and I'll show you a very talented cheater."
sorophx Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 if I recall correctly, it was possible to advance the plot without shooting a single round all the way up until the Strip. so, yeah, my guess is, you can rush through it. just hit lvl 16, guns, locks, science, speech - all at 80, sneak at 60. gonna bump sneak to 80 and then I don't know what to do next. the Bloody Mess perk is broken, now it doesn't just make enemies explode, it actually gives bonuses to damage. on the other hand Sniper is ruined. seriously, VATS is useless (I remember using it in F3 only in close quarters combat, it was easy to kill supermuties with it, but now I don't even bother with VATS, the game's a lot easier without it) not sure why all the hate for the writing, it's definitely on par with F2. maybe KOTOR2 or MOTB are still better in this regard, but Fallout was always a completely different game. also, the exploration is done exactly like in F3, with the only difference: Obsid's level designers actually know what they're doing. the only thing I absolutely hate is - what some of you already said - the minimap, it's atrocious, completely useless. I really wish someone made a mod for it. the second issue I have with the game - the inventory on trading: I wish there was a way to sort stuff when you barter... Walsingham said: I was struggling to understand ths until I noticed you are from Finland. And having been educated solely by mkreku in this respect I am convinced that Finland essentially IS the wh40k universe.
LadyCrimson Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 Another vote for mini-map dislike. It feels useless. the inventory on trading: I wish there was a way to sort stuff when you barter... If you click on the arrows that border the words at the top of the trading screen, it sorts into a few broad categories (Aid, Weapons, Misc, Ammo, Apparel). I've been finding that sufficient, but more would've been nice, yes. “Things are as they are.
