Walsingham
Why don't you write me a three-page essay (12 points Times New Roman double spaced) on why an ad hominem is an irrelevant attack in a discussion of literally anything except your opponent's character? How do you not know these things? Firstly, while Russia's not a continent in the technical sense I believe it qualifies in the practical everyday sense. It's big, it has its own distinctive geographic boundaries, and its own cultural/historical stew. But if it makes you happy then no it's not. An ad hominem attack is not required in this context. This is mainly because we are not classically debating. No one on this entire forum shows the least indication of buying an ounce of the tripe you push. My purpose is as much for your own sake. If you really care about people then you need to get involved. If you don't then you'll quickly learn you don't after your first serious injury or third bout of dysentery. Either way you're going to quit spamming this forum. "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. Masterfade
Now we have the Japanese PM resigns over the decision to keep the American base in Okinawa, a decision that was reportedly made after the North Korean attack. And the South Korean ruling party suffers setbacks in local elections, which BBC claims "seen as a blow for Mr Lee's tough stance on North Korea, accused of sinking the Cheonan". You have to admit Mr.Kim and his cronies are pretty good at creating political earthquakes for their neighbors.

You have no way of knowing this, and all this argument does is make you look like a ****. This is the internet, people are anonymous. You have no way of knowing what he has or has not done, and all you're doing right now is spewing unfounded ad-hominem to try to attack credibility, except you can't attack credibility over the internet because no one has any to begin with. Stop this crap. Even if were to ignore the glaring problem of an anonymous medium for the debate, your expectations are ridiculous - you can't honestly refuse to accept any argument in favor of communism unless the person arguing has actually run a communist nation. That's just idiotic. Edit: I can't believe that word is censored. Yet that doesn't stop us from stereotyping and wildly guessing based only on the facts that LoF: has an internet connection, and that his fervent belief on communism comes in no way from experiencing a regime. But we should really get back to NK. I'd say the answer to that question is kind of like the answer to "who's the sucker in this poker game?"* *If you can't tell, it's you. I wouldn't deny for one moment that I'm a bit of a ****. However in answer to your points: 1. My experience is that people almost never outright lie, even on the internet. Because doing so is far worse than admitting defeat to a stranger. It's an admission of defeat to yourself. 2. Of course people have credibility online. One reason I enjoy this forum so much is that by and large people here have good credibility. I can honestly say I have respect for several members based solely on their online behaviour. 3. Direct experience counts for something. If I argue with a farmer about cattle rearing when he has actually reared cattle that is a relevant component of the debate. One does not have to be a communist to have experience of man management, enterprise, policing, or revolution - all components of communism. 4. This is ALL relevant because LoF is all about communism. North Korea is all about communism. Both persist in a persecution complex, blindly adhering to a discredited form of government predicated on violent oppression. If we cannot convince LoF of the faults of communism when he lives in the USA, how the hell are we going to convince North Koreans when they 'believe' in a webwork of state surveillance? Cycloneman
B.R. Myers gave a great talk about the exact functioning of the North Korean state and its propaganda. To put it simply, North Korea can't not lash out at the United States: that is the center of its legitimacy. It can't stop being militaristic: that is the center of its legitimacy. The whole justification of North Korea is that it is not a United States puppet. Try watching the video LoF posted here before you say that North Korea is "all about communism." I don't post if I don't have anything to say, which I guess makes me better than the rest of your so-called "community."
Wrath of Dagon
That's right Wals, North Korea is actually far right instead of communist, so it's OK to hate them now. No, people don't have credibility online, they have an illusion of credibility. You have no way of detecting if they're talking out of their asses, nor do you have any way of knowing if they have any direct experience. You should stop with your assumptions and debate the points, not the person, especially because over the internet you have no way of actually knowing the person. Humodour
He's also a member of the Green Party of the USA. So what? The Greens are an important and certainly legitimate party in many countries around the world (Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Germany, a bunch of other countries in Europe and South America). And I say important in the sense that they are part of the policy-making process (balance of power, coalition, cabinet positions, local government leadership, etc), not simply as a third party without any political representation. What, can't you handle a political system that isn't completely black and white (two-party)?
