Happy Thanksgiving

Pagan holidays > then the xian ones IMO (that were stolen from the pagans to start with... xmas, easter, may day, all saints day all orginally pagan holidays)

Other words be happy you have some pagan holidays still and not force fed the fictional xian garbage.

Good luck with your "my religion is more real than your religion" argument.

Oh, and happy Thanksgiving.

You American pigdogs and your awful holidays, today I woke up and when I tried to watch 30 Rock and Community there was nothing there because you cant be bothered to air shows on your silly chickin-eating festival.

If there is no clear indication, asume the post is written in jest. This notification is meant very seriously and its purpouse is to avoid misunderstandings and the consequences thereof. Furthermore; I can not be held accountable for anything I write on these forums since the idea of taking serious responsability for my unserious actions, is an oxymoron in itself.

Important: as the following sentence contains many naughty words I warn you not to read it under any circumstances; botty, knickers, wee, erogenous zone, psychiatrist, clitoris, stockings, bosom, poetry reading, dentist, fellatio and the department of agriculture.

Oh, and happy Thanksgiving.

Not my argument at all. In fact not a argument period. Take away the emotional tone/personal opinion of my post and it's fact. *shrugs*

- Most xian holidays are based on pagan holidays; fact

- Most secular historians agree the mythos of jesus was a mix of other mythos that pre-dates the name called jesus. Such as osiris of ancient egypt; fact

My distain for the xian religion is based on the reality its all about power, control and influence thus the concepts of helping your fellow man, being open minded and loving everyone has fallen by the way side. Now its all about stipulations... ill help you but only if you follow my specific religion (otherwise ill look the other way)... ill love you but only if you are not gay (otherwise ill scream at you in the street you are going to burn in 'hell')... ill forgive you but only if you follow the rules made by the church/man and not a higher power (because the pope is infallibale and talks to god however yet he says using magick is the devils work but the priest can transmute the host/wine into blood and the body of jesus but thats not 'magick' its a 'ritual'. Or a pagan wearing black for their ritual is the color of the 'devil' yet what color is the preist wearing when not in his robes? All priests must be working for the devil too apparently..)

The hypocrisy and double standard in most xian religons is what bothers me. I am pretty sure if jesus did exist in the context of the bible he'd have already wiped these followers from the earth as they totally warped what he was trying to get across. Best bumper sticker ever 'Jesus please save me.. from your followers'

In the end I do not think any religion is 'better' then the next. Follow whatever works for you (and of the xians understood and followed that most of my issues with them would be moot). However I still have a right to call foul and hypocrisy when I see it.

Perhaps if your country, you know, produced some entertainment themselves you could watch it rather then being at the mercy of the US networks. Oh wait, thats right have a sense of entitlement and lash out at the hand that feeds you. Standard MO.

You know, the funny thing is I don't have anything against pagan holidays. I would never dream of jumping into someone's thread expressing good will during a pagan or even secular holdiay with anything other than goodwill of my own. Hell, that includes Festivus. I mean, I guess if folks wanted to celebrate concentration camp day or Hiroshima day, I wouldn't want anything to do with it, but otherwise I'm all about celebrating and enjoying myself.

Pagans, Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Atheists, and all the rest have done a lot of bad things. It's human nature. Good and kind acts are also in our nature. However, we don't generally celebrate the bad stuff we do.

Yeah, Europeans came over to the United States and mistreated the native population, decimated it throughout the continent and often exploited the survivors. Do we really want to celebrate 'bringing smallpox to the native population' day? Not me. I'd rather celebrate those times we lived in harmony with each other. ...And even though I was certain some folks would be asinine about my thread, I certainly wouldn't let that stop me from expressing goodwill to other folks. I was even careful to be inclusive, not to be politically correct but because I think the idea behind the holiday is universally human.

All in all, though, I'm not angry with the responses. I want to celebrate Thanksgiving, but it doesn't do us much good to remember our successes and good times if we refuse to accept our failures, either as any religion or as a species.

I would be equally upset if the brits claimed "No wallace & gromit for you because its asparagus day". But they dont, because they're sensible people who dont cancel quality entertainment just because its a holiday.

...also, in socialist Sweden, TV watches YOU. (and they send you letters like "kaftan, we know you're watching please pay us." all the time.)
