Calax Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Bethesda is suing interplay over the proposed fallout MMO, because Interplay had not shown full scale work on the game by April 4th 2009. Bethesda appears to be using this to yank the IP from under the MMO (similar to what happened to champions (which was originally Marvel's mmo)) because Interplay wasn't living up to it's end of the supposed deal. Victor of the 5 year fan fic competition! Kevin Butler will awesome your face off.
Morgoth Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 That's old news. But what do I have to say? A company I don't care about sues another company I don't care about, so....? Rain makes everything better.
Humodour Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Yeah, I'm just laughing. Interplay ****ed Fallout over, Bethesda is ****ing Fallout over... let 'em at it.

Mamoulian War Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Anyway, smells like Bethesda wants to make a Fallout MMO. They just want the IP, because when they purchased rights for Fallout IP only for single player games, with some sort of clause, that if Interplay does not show enough work done on their MMO, the whole fallout goes to Bethesda... But iirc the date was set to be around 2010... I might be wrong about the date, because i read article about it more than few years ago... Sent from my Stone Tablet, using Chisel-a-Talk 2000BC. They may want to make money from it, but they may also want to make sure no one else makes money off of it (or creates what could be a competing product with the IP) I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Darth InSidious Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 (edited) IIRC, Bethesda are also suing over the Fallout Trilogy being sold, because the name is "confusingly similar" to Fallout 3... if you have an IQ of about 4. Edit: Link Excuse me while I puke. Sorry, but I have to agree with Bethesda on this one. There are any number of look-alike packages out there that attempt to trip up consumers who are buying gifts for people or simply see something without realizing it's not precisely what they're looking for. Calling something the "Fallout Trilogy" and putting it out on shelves just after Fallout 3 comes out, without including Fallout 3 in the package, is going to be confusing to people. Maybe not you or I, but I can definitely see someone reading about Fallout 3 or hearing about it from a friend, seeing the Fallout Trilogy on the shelf at Target, and picking it up, thinking they got a deal. (Although hopefully they get a blast out of FO1 and 2.) Another good recent example of look-alike products and packaging. Matthew Rorie

Edit: Link Excuse me while I'm over here not caring. Anyone wanting any of the Fallouts should get them from Good Old Games and stop supporting the putrid husk of a store that is Gamestop & Co.
Darth InSidious Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 (edited) Just for the record, the two covers: Anyone wanting any of the Fallouts should get them from Good Old Games and stop supporting the putrid husk of a store that is Gamestop & Co. From the link I posted: Bethesda also takes issue with Interplay's licensing of Fallout games to digital distribution services Good Old Games (GOG), GameTap and Steam, which Interplay was said never to have sought approval or permission for. Basically, Bethesda takes issue with pretty much everything Interplay seems to be doing with the pre-Fallout 3 releases, believing they cannibalize sales of Fallout 3.
