Deadly_Nightshade Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 That's old news to most of us I think... "Geez. It's like we lost some sort of bet and ended up saddled with a bunch of terrible new posters on this forum." -Hurlshot
Morgoth Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 I just thought NWN2 uses s simple DVD check. Hardly intrusive DRM. Rain makes everything better.
Starwars Posted September 12, 2009 Posted September 12, 2009 It wasn't that intrusive, true. But there have been many problems regarding how people couldn't get the game to run etc. In fact, it was one such issue that made the OEI NWN2 devs petition Atari to fix the DRM. Also, it's a godsend for us who do modding, because the initial loading time is so much faster now. I timed it, and it now takes 8 seconds for me to get to the main screen after clicking my nwn2 shortcut (I removed the intro movies as well). Very nice. Magister Lajciak Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 (edited) It's news to me, but despite my sig and avatar icon, I don't actually dislike SecuROM as such, so long as it sticks to disk checks and such. I dislike the implementation of SecuROM (or any other DRM) that requires you to activate games online and limits the number of installs. NWN2 never had that implementation of SecuROM, so I never had a problem with it. Edited September 14, 2009 by Magister Lajciak
Gorth Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 ...and I was faithfully playing the juggle the DVD game when playing SoZ recently because I didn't know that it didn't need the disc... “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt.
