SEGA was just frustrated with the lack of hype for the game, so they devised a scheme to make the fans turn rabid by pretending the game was in limbo a.k.a. "probably cancelled" and leaked a few pieces of obscure concept art to get things rolling.

Voila! Cult following in the span of a week or two. I applaud your marketing department, SEGA.

O'rly? For realz? Cons-piracy yo?

This is not a conspiracy theory. It is, however, a conspiracy. Call it conspiracy fact, if you will.

It's just sleeping.

Lol That was a good joke.

I was excited for a minute there. :getlost:

You sick son of a-

"Alright, I've been thinking. When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade - make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons, what am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager. Make life rue the day it thought it could give Cave Johnson lemons. Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons. I'm going to to get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

If so, it's a big fail. I have mostly moved on now and stopped following the game due to its uncertain release and I suspect so have many others.

If the Aliens RPG has been canceled, why haven't the Aliens sub-forum been dismantled yet?

'Cause SEGA and OBSIDIAN are having a laugh?

I would

You're giving me hope  What's the worst IMO is that this game has (was?) been pretty far in the developement. I mean we heard first rumors about it like at the end of 2006? Must have been 2 years of production at least. All this hard work ;(

That's just because they don't want to confirm it until anyone have forgotten about the game. Like they are doing now, to keep things quiet. Believe me.

Break your hopes and console it.

You were following the game before? How exactly? Were you awaiting with baited breath every new variation on "it's tyte" from Sawyer and co? >_<

Break your hopes and console it.

Yeh, Mass effect 2, bio 2, diablo 3, prototype, alpha protocol, dragon origins and a bunch more.

I'm serious.

Fallout and Alpha Protocol will be in stores before the end of 2010 and Obsidian, a company of about 100 employees, will be left with exactly zero games in production. That does not make sense.

Alpha Protocol is going to be released in a few months time actually.

So yeah, Obsidian's gotta pick up their pace in finding another project.

The new project Fallout: New Vegas is just one more confirmation about the Aliens RPG being totally canned.

Sawyer changed his title:

Fallout: New Vegas Project Director

:)

That's the death knell for me.

Oh Jimmy, you were so funny.

Don't let me down.

From habit he lifts his watch; it shows him its blank face.

Zero hour, Snowman thinks. Time to go.

I just don't get it. What changed? Aliens looked so promising. The devs were so happy with it. Sega was so happy with it. They even built a brand new engine for it!

That was years ago. Perhaps Sega didn't like the direction. Or maybe it's just a money issue. We should find out at E3 at the latest, when they talk about AvP3 and inevitably the status of the other Aliens stuff.
